Is Compton getting caps purely to take the pressure off Cook? Very debatable selection if so.
I am fine with him sitting there all day if Cook is doing fine.

I would be tempted to give Joe Root a whirl in the final Test. Compton has done nothing wrong but largely because he has done nothing.

Lets get this series done and then try all the youngsta beauties in Marshyland. With Compton I think we are getting fooled because of Cook's godlike form. When Cook's form isn't so good, imagine us being 3 down early and Compton scratching away with Trott or Bell. It's an embarrassing prospect.
Root in for Compton, Fatel out for Bairstow. We need to be blooding young players - Compton is not young and Fatel is...fat.

If any thing I think Compton makes things a bit harder for Cook?

That beautiful record deserves more of a chance. Sure he's slow, but 280 runs more than the next bloke on the list with three fewer games?
He needs a try on different wickets.
Root averages 38 in FC cricket. He still has some development to go.
That's a bit harsh. I'll carry him around till we play our next couple of home series. Can't believe what could've happened if we regularly lost an opener early in every inns. He didn't made enough runs but he played enough balls to frustrate the bowlers, need to rotate the strike a bit more though.
517-1, anybody?

517-1, anybody?
which one?I find it odd that they showed the atrocious lbw appeal for Ashwin yet didn't show the one that Asondern had earlier today that looked out...
Is it true that alister cook does not sweat?
which one?
Well said Sir! Strauss was so poor this year and was putting enormous pressure on other batters. The opening looks a lot more assuring now. It's quite a shame though that Trott has not been able to cash in on these good startsOne of the reasons I'm rallying for Compton so hard is because of Strauss. While I enjoyed him immensely as a cricketer, as an opener in the past few years he had one good century once every few series, and then exposed the #3 early in the rest. Got pretty sick of it.
How is that possible?
I think Compton is exactly what we need at the top of the order. This is Test cricket, you don't get prizes for scoring at a high rate, you get prizes for making a big score in the first innings and winning matches. Compton is a steady batsman who doesn't expose the middle order too soon.
If we need fast innings' we have the likes of Cook, KP and Prior but we don't have any real Collingwood-esque players who dig in and can produce a real gritty innings.
So what has happened to Ashwin's mystery ball? Any one seen it?

Forget about mystery ball he can't even find his own balls right now.
Apparently he hardly does.
Team England did some training sessions in a heat/humidity chamber to see who sweat the least (so they knew to keep the ball away from them when trying to keep it dry for reverse swing or something) and Cook turned out to hardly sweat at all.
