India vs England | India win 5th Test against England by an innings and 75 runs in Chennai

R Ashwin is the first since 1985 to complete the double of 25 wickets and 250 runs in a Test series.

Getting close to Botham's 300 runs and 3o wickets from 1981.

English players continuing to act like idiots on the field

“Come on Keaty!” shouts Bairstow into the sump microphone. “Get him out yet again here, yeah!” That’s basically gross insubordination, isn’t it? That’s outright and explicit criticism of the umpires thinly disguised as encouragement for a team-mate.

Honestly a gun spell by Keaton Jennings.

Could have got 2 wickets.

I guess there was some reverse or something.

Need to wait after tea for 200! (Biting time, yuck on England's bowling rate!)

Any hopes of enforcing a result? With England batsmen showing some improvement there, I don't foresee a win.

Ashwin needs to work on his hitting game.

When karun was close to 200....onus was on him to take on the bowling.

He doesn't need to take on Jennings who was getting the ball to shape but should have gone after the spinners.

There is a chance.

Something is there in the pitch but not much. We will only know how much when Indian spinners bowl here. Reverse may also be there.

Poms already planning for christmas party, this match is just a formality :nasser

Nair seems to have better temperament than Rahul! But wonder if he has skills to handle various surfaces and different bowlers! But he deserves some chance and a bit of run

His game against pacers is suspect. Looks really good against spinners.

Would love to hear the views of those who can analyze his batting.

I have zero doubts about Rahul's temperament. He is from the Ponting/Sehwag school where the first 20 runs are critical.

I think India will win. Get Cook out tonight and I think they could be all out for 150. They are exhausted after a long tour and I think their heads are half on the plane home.

Blimey, a wicket has fallen! Great catch Jos B.

Absolutely brilliant catch!

What we are seeing now is that India has taken over Australia in having a steady stream of batsmen in first class cricket ready for the highest level, at least those who can play well in the subcontinent/WI/Australia off the bat.

All these guys have 3-4 years of playing and scoring big in domestic cricket and IPL.

Rahul seems to play away from the body a bit. This is a true pitch where he could trust the wicket, so he didn't face too many difficulties here. I think he needs to work on it a bit though.

But both Rahul and Nair are fantastic batsmen and the former is an all format batsman.

Ishant is going to be crucial here if India is to win. 10 overs this morning and 10 overs tomorrow where he needs to take a couple of wickets.

Root is from the Kohli school of fielding. Good outfielder but grabs at the ball in the slips.

Slip fielding overall is massively on the decline. Stokes from both teams is the only consistent guy. Cook and Rahane one level below.

lol What a beating India is handing out to ENG, I really wasnt expecting this result after the first test... Having said that ENG has been the most competitive side in India compared to the otherss...

India the 3rd team to make 400+ in 1st innings in every match of a 5/6-Test series, after Aus v Pak 1983-4, and Aus in Eng 1989 (6 Tests)

I think Virat declares after another 9 overs which should get India to 700. Gives them 10 overs to bowl at Cook and Jennings.

Should declare in another 2 overs..200 is more than sufficient ..it will be india''s win from here

Nair has to score at 150 if he has any chance of scoring 300 before half an hour! Kohli will feel satisfied with 250+ to lead with 1 day + 20 minutes left

What a change of luck/fortune for Nair after that run out with Kohli! Patience & Determination will win it for you no matter what your talent is!

India should bat all day , declare with about 250 lead.

Nair using up all the luck for "one year" in this match, already going to surpass Sachin's highest score.

18 overs left in the day now.

The plan has to be to bat another 6, then we lose 2 overs for the innings changeover.

Bowl 10 overs at them today and try to get a couple of wickets.

Let Nair get 402

No point taking candy from a baby like England with a effortless win.

We should bat for 6 more overs and then declare. 10 overs are enough to pick up a couple of English wickets.

This is true revenge for that worst tour of 2011, under dhoni. 2014 to be returned in 2018.......

Nair got hi double too early in his career imo, hopefully he doesn't decline now.

Nair , third Indian to reach 250 after Sehwag and Laxman

Declare it kohli..What r u doing?

We dont want England to be 190/8 on day5 stumps and feel disappointed for not declaring earlier.

This is moronic stuff from Kohli, England are going to block for the draw... little point in continuing other than reducing the number of overs India have to bowl England out

Great captain my behind.

Don't think you have enough overs to win it. The wicket looks like a road.

Crushing England psychologically for years to come

Kohli will declare if Nair gets out now, else he will wait for 300. Kohli is planing for just 4 to 6 overs at England today.

England facing 10 overs or 14 overs today isn't really much different. If these extra 4 overs can get India 40 more runs, then it is worth it imo.

3 sessions are good enough to take wickets on a turning track. This is a patta pitch let the youngster enjoy his inning. Should go for 300 definitely. He is hitting fours and sixes to reach there as soon as possible. :inti

Runs are no damn issue at this point.

England are going to bat for survival...

Exactly.

As long as you have a go at England tonight, it is all the same.

Posters are forgetting this is England and not Saffers/Aus that would post a total ,does anyone remember Rajkot? On this flat pitch all we would have is a blockathon by English they are not going to setup anything.

What a borefest this has been..

Nair in his third test is on his way to hit a 300.

If they score at 10-15 per over, then it is worth letting them bat for 3-4 extra overs. That will make sure India does not need to bat again.

Once the lead went past 200...every over we play is one less over to negotiate for England today.

If you have just 10 overs...and bowl pacers for 2 overs each...spinners will have just a 3 over spell each to have a crack at England.

If you have 14 overs, then spinners will have a 5 over spell each to have a crack at England.

During the end of the day, every over's worth gets magnified.

Maybe England would still crumble but the declaration hasn't been done on time.

Need to declare after this over and have a crack at them. C'mon Kohli please don't decide to wait for Nair's 300.
