India vs New Zealand | Semi Final 1, World Cup | Old Trafford | 10th Jul, 2019 | India Innings

This is what happens when you don't have much experience of such situations. Great job Shastri, just a splendid job.

He just compared Kohli to freaking Gilchrist in WC. Let that sink in.

He failed in all three semis, and if he didn’t play for the GOAT team, he wouldn’t have the luxury of playing those finals. Circumstances play a big role, that is my point.

Would Dhawan have made any difference in this match? Just thinking (a left handed opener, big match player, probably stayed till now!)

Pant gone. So those who said Pant catch wont matter much as he'll give chances are actually quite knowledgeable about the game🙄🙄🙄

I was just going to say this is Pant's best innings till date and he's throw it away .. Absolute pathetic...

The future of India's batting, Indian fans have talked him up like he's the second coming of Tendulkar :)))

Damien Martyn was kicked out of the Aussie team for 3 years when he played a similar shot in an important game. Will the "Aussies of today" be as ruthless and drop pant and send a message?

Tight bowling from NZ for 3 overs and Pant couldn't take it.

Pant is a really talented guy but he has definite Umer Akmalish tendencies

If a WC final fifty @100+ SR is nothing, then hundreds in bilaterals are also meaningless as those matches also mean nothing

Kohli’s 37 in the 2011 World Cup Final was a far greater innings than Gilchrist’s 50 in 1999 or even in the 2003 final.

Serves India and their commentators right. Pant was on 20 off 30 and the so called experts on TV and here on pp were saying that he is playing a gem.

Like why? he is just another guy who is on 20 off 30

Rohit got a good ball. Can't blame him. Kohli is a choker and Rahul was a mental midget. I'm pretty sure Dhawan wouldn't have scored many either. It's a deficiency everybody knows. But they are better than English on tricky pitches. Aussies and NZ are probably the only teams that could have handled the first 10 overs

I'm not just talking about this game. These guys have solidified their status as the greatest bottler and FTB of all-time over several years. Dhawan would probably have done well here, he's a clutch player and can play swing and seam relatively well.

What a terrible wicket, ICC has rubbed India of the wc, will be a boring final without india and NZ in final.

They did. They survived the 10 overs yesterday. Thats what was needed here

They really didn't do too well, Guptill got out for 1 and Nicholls for 28 at 55 SR. All credit goes to Taylor and Williamson for making it a contest.

India are unlucky, Rohit got out to a good ball and he was in crazy form. Rahul and Kohli were walking wickets though, especially Rahul who's been a hack in ODIs so far.

From Peshawar to Centurion to JoBurg to Dambulla To Mumbai to Lords and now here All on Dhoni :ik2

Pant always seems to get out the same way. A big swing and a catch to the leg side.

Gilchrist 149 in WC Final ton is far greater innings than all of Kohli's bilateral tons combined. Happy?

Damn you are so calm. Indian fans nightmare finally coming true but unfortunately at a knockout stage.

It's easy. The team that deserves to go to the final will go. NZ deserves after this bowling display. At the end of the day that's what everybody wants

:)) The desperation. He scored that at a SR of 70 with India's best batsmen yet to come/at the other end. It was of no consequence to the match. Also, it was 35, not 37. A nothing cameo and it has only gotten worse ever since he has not been sandwiched between the greatest Indian batting lineup.

Funny how you say Gilchrist's job was made easier by the Aussies but do not consider how easy Kohli had it in 2011.

That's why Pant was not considered in the initial 15, cant resist his temptation. But still better than the others as a WK/batsmen though atm.

Time for MSD to shine like a diamond on a gloomy day...

That's why Dhoni was needed at the other end. To guide him, to tell him that a couple of tight overs don't mean u gotto panic.

WHAT? Are you okay?

Yes. India were 30/2 chasing 279 in the final, both Sehwag and Tendulkar were back in the pavilion. A 21 year old Kohli absorbed the pressure and struck a 100 run partnership with Gambhir that put India back on a track.

Had he been dismissed cheaply, and India would have been reduced to 40/3, it would most likely have been curtains.

Do you really think scoring 54 when chasing 133 against a completely deflated team is better?

I hope Pak will someday realize how important its it to have a specialist accurate spinner. One slow left arm spinner like Zafar Gohar is a must going forward especially when the next WC is in India

No it wasnt. Scoring 37 against a wet ball in the home ground can't be greater than 50@100+ SR upfront
