What's new

India vs New Zealand | Semi Final 1, World Cup | Old Trafford | 10th Jul, 2019 | India Innings

Yes. India were 30/2 chasing 279 in the final, both Sehwag and Tendulkar were back in the pavilion. A 21 year old Kohli absorbed the pressure and struck a 100 run partnership with Gambhir that put India back on a track.

Had he been dismissed cheaply, and India would have been reduced to 40/3, it would most likely have been curtains.

Do you really think scoring 54 when chasing 133 against a completely deflated team is better?

Yes it's better, you need help. You are hurt right now and not in the right mental state.

I cannot believe how far India's batting has falled since the 2011 WC. They only have three batsmen and two of them have fatal flaws.

Excellent passage of play. Santner getting to grip the ball like Jadeja did yesterday

The reality is that Pant is worse than our hack Liton Das as I mentioned above. However, since he plays for India even Axar Patel gets treated as a legend.

But who cares? Since you are a bangladeshi, indian fans will call you jealous. Giving an important position at 4 to Pant is a joke. :inti

:)) The desperation. He scored that at a SR of 70 with India's best batsmen yet to come/at the other end. It was of no consequence to the match. Also, it was 35, not 37. A nothing cameo and it has only gotten worse ever since he has not been sandwiched between the greatest Indian batting lineup.

Funny how you say Gilchrist's job was made easier by the Aussies but do not consider how easy Kohli had it in 2011.

It doesn’t matter if it was 35, 36, 37 or 38. I haven’t memorized the scorecards.

India were 30/2 chasing 279 and both Sehwag and Tendulkar were dismissed. SL’s tail was up and India badly needed a partnership to get the chase back on track.

It was an extremely important innings under the circumstances and your beloved Amla and Moeen cannot produce something like that under such pressure even if they live for a thousand years.

Why are India allowed 3 commentators in all of their matches whereas all other countries dont have more than 2?

I hope Pak will someday realize how important its it to have a specialist accurate spinner. One slow left arm spinner like Zafar Gohar is a must going forward especially when the next WC is in India

I hope the pcb management realizes this ,he is the exact version of Mitchel satner.

Looks tough for India now. But still possible. NZ have been excellent. All that talk yesterday about that batting proved wrong.

So you are saying simply holding an end up for Gambhir who played the innings of the match and basically won the game is better innings then Gilchrist who was top scorer in a low scoring green pitch against the likes of Wasim and Co?

Gilchrist 149 in WC Final ton is far greater innings than all of Kohli's bilateral tons combined. Happy?

Yes it was a better innings, but one innings isn’t enough to overpower a career. Kohli has done way, way more than Gilchrist as an ODI batsman for the latter to be considered better because of the 2007 final.

Come on Kiwis, get Pandya and Dhoni out so we can all move on.

I would stick my neck out and say he is a bowler with much higher ceiling than Santner and someone who can spin it. Santner is a better batsman though.

Verbal Diarhea is so hard to listen to especially when India are losing

Very well said Mamoon.

For him it's all about that word that begins with r and ends in n.

Pandya's wicket right now would be the game I would think.

Dhoni will try to take the game deep and in the process will let the run rate climb to 9, 10 even which would be extremely difficult to overcome.

its game over for india. No way they can chase this. Thanks in advance for the entertainment we will witness after the match hahaha - nahi hoga tujse chase kohi

Great career. One of the greatest India ever produced. Sad he will go out this way but Dhoni's six to win the world cup will stay on for eternity. India will miss him

Refusing second run for left right hand combo at this stage ? Dhoni is strange must take India home or he will be slaughtered

Which is why Amla is the second greatest ODI opener of all-time. It's great that you're finally letting go of your obsession with the WC.

Santner 3 overs 1 for 1.

How well did Pak play him on that square turner?

We're at a point we can get wickets from RR pressure.

They need to start hitting soon as runrate is ballooning.

Dude. It's over. Pitch is slower as it was yesterday. India lost way too many wickets and still need 170 runs. This is done.

Dhoni would take the game deep with who? In 2011 he had Gambhir. Pandya is the last recognized batsman in the team right now. Rest are all tailenders.

Amla is the biggest bottler under pressure. You need to get over your obsession with bearded males.

These two are doing nothing :)))

Making it easy, getting RRR to 10 and then hitting out.

So you are saying simply holding an end up for Gambhir who played the innings of the match and basically won the game is better innings then Gilchrist who was top scorer in a low scoring green pitch against the likes of Wasim and Co?

It wasn’t a green pitch. It was a 250 wicket. Pakistan collapsed because of the early morning moisture and some very tight bowling. We were still looking good after the first 10 overs before Warne ran through us.

Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib were extremely dejected and their body language suggested that they had accepted that they had no chance of defending the total. They were spraying the ball around and Gilchrist made merry.

Yes I am saying that Kohli’s innings in the 2011 was way better than Gilchrist’s in 1999. That partnership with Gambhir showed his character and his ability to absorb pressure.

Great career. One of the greatest India ever produced. Sad he will go out this way but Dhoni's six to win the world cup will stay on for eternity. India will miss him

Sir rhony, according to you we were going to chase 148 in 20 overs. Currently the score is 81/5 in 26 overs. Whats your opinion about this(not me)? :inti

Dude. It's over. Pitch is slower as it was yesterday. India lost way too many wickets and still need 170 runs. This is done.

Possibly but as long as Pandya and Dhoni are there, the hope is still alive for Indian fans. 240 isn't a huge score. One partnership can bring you close.

Which is why Amla is the second greatest ODI opener of all-time. It's great that you're finally letting go of your obsession with the WC.

Only in your world where every bearded guy is a legend.

To all my Indian friends here:

NOW YOU KNOW HOW WE FEEL EVERYTIME PAK COME TO CHASE!

Also, I would literally pay to hear what Kohli said to pant in the dressing room...

India became too arrogant, that’s usually an indication before the fall.

No. It's inability to play swing. NZ caught India in their favorable conditions and Indians didn't learn a lesson after 2 similar defeats against them in the last 6 months.

Which is why Amla is the second greatest ODI opener of all-time. It's great that you're finally letting go of your obsession with the WC.

Both wrong. HA isnt #2 but WCs do carry extra weight. Gilly's final ton > VK's ODI career to date.

Kane > Kohli under pressure.

Not. even. close.

He played a captain's knock yesterday and would have gotten a century had he not played for the team.

Kohli looked terrified the moment he came out to bat.

Kohli has done well in JAMODI bilaterals, I give you that. He would still need a WC fifty or hundred in elimination round to be a GOAT contender. So far, he's been a tailender.

Aus better beat England, I'd rather lose to them than be the team that lost to England in a WC Final...

I want kiwis to win the world cup if they beat India today. Will be rooting for them all the way.

Just around 150 runs needed. Dhoni and Pandya are still there with Jadeja to come. Expecting a close encounter.

Kane>> Kohli, Babar and even Root under pressure

These two are doing nothing :)))

Making it easy, getting RRR to 10 and then hitting out.

Only chance India has is that they somehow get the target reduced to around 100 runs of 60 balls remaining, if these two get out its over for them.

I think anyone else with Kohli's numbers in knockouts, and you'd have a completely different outlook on his credentials.

Kohli's numbers are extremely poor, if talking ICC knockouts only. Therefore comparing him to certified chokers like Amla or Moeen does him all kinds of favors.

Better players to compare with should be those in his class - including Williamson, Ponting, Waugh, Richards etc.
