Until Pak exorcises its demon, healing won't take place. Your demon is chasing. If Pak wins a game against India by chasing the score down, it will shatter all the mental shackles that have been holding your team down and constraining its potential since long. I'd suggest Pakistan to bowl first after winning the toss.
Can you give us a link or something? Where are you getting this info from?Forget BBC forecast.
The match is not happening. There is 50 to 70% chance of rain with thunderstorms.
The toss may happen but that will be it.
It's a definite abandonment.
Guys use Met Office forecasts please.
Lived in manchester 19 years. dont need Met forecasts for the weather.
Its finally stopped raining after a week.
Streak will only be broken if we beat India fair and square. We don't believe in winning through rain like you guys count CT trophy.![]()

So you don't count 92 WC win and CT 17? Both times Pakistan wouldn't even have qualified if not for rain.![]()

Pakistan lost SA match in 92 due to rain
Luck evened up with England match abandonment
They were dominating against SA when rain came in CT17
That is something which no one understands, I was in Grade 3 at that time, exams were happening and I heard whisper from Teachers that 74/2 in 22nd Over and rain. I 100% remember how much was frustration among adult Pakistanis during that painful wait for re-starting of match. As per current duck worth lewis Pakistan would have won the match. But rules at that time ensured we lost completely unfairly.
Actually in 1992, Pakistan ideally should have had 10 points not 9 points.
Kids who haven’t lived through the time depend too much on heresay

How did rain help Pak in CT 17?
We threw away a match against a shoddy Australian team. India has been ruthless so far and are overwhelming favourites. Why is the morale down boys.India bowling will be off radar due to clouds and will return empty handed.Their batting will misfire and they will crash like their MIGS.
ICC with India
Allah with Pak

80% chance of rain at 4PM. Winner will be decided by DLS. Win toss & bowl.

Yes this is looking likely.
Match may be abandoned altogether as rain is starting from 10 am. Then it will stop at 11 am but continue non stop from 12 onwards.
So big possibility we might not see a ball being bowled.
A big shame and a disappointment.
Had planned it for weeks.
Roast chicken and kebabs with strawberry trifle with friends and family was planned this Sunday. But rain ruined it sadly.
We need 1 or 2 points in this game.
1 point may not be enough for Pakistan.
After England beat WI today, NZ, Eng, and Aus would have played the same number of games as Pakistan (4) and have 4, 3 and 3 points more. For Pakistan to overtake any of these 3, it will have to win 2 more games than they win. This seems unlikely.
The most likely scenario for Pakistan to get into the top 4 is to beat India and then hope England beats India too. Assuming no more rained out games, if Pakistan and India win all other matches then they will be even at 13 points. It will come down to the NRR. The team beating up Afg, Bang etc. more will go through.
If the Ind-Pak match is rained out, it would be very difficult for Pak to get more or equal points to NZ, Aus, Eng and India, and it would be out of the tournament.
NZ SA is looking like a washout five days out.

Aren't you the same guy who said Pak vs Aus would be washed out too?
Almost slept in that day taking your advice. Thank goodness I didn't.
The expectations seem to be lower than the CT, maybe the team will pleasantly surprise us again.
I'm not liking the different forecasts by BBC weather and metoffice, I hope bbc weather is closer to the truth with a bit less rain.

Also our players are mentally at their lowest in their careers I believe. None of these guys have any sort of stability in that upper compartment.
This is the first India-Pakistan game I really don't care about. Very disappointed by how Pakistan has played throughout this World Cup. It's like these players have been bullied into their shells by Twitter/Youtube trolls.
I will be furious if Malik plays ahead of Sohail.
Shoaib Malik tends to perform well against India so I'd be happy if he doesn't make the XI.
Sarfraz hints Malik might play against India
Ronaldo7 someone on this forum must be very happy...
Don't know why people rate Haris so highly. I don't remember him winning us a single match in his overall mediocre career.
Malik looks like a proper tailender these days.
Atleast we know Haris can score atleast 25 or more.
At least I can remember the last time when Malik won us a game.
That would mean that SA are gone from the WC by all money and it also puts in doubt NZ's semi spot. NZ are expected to drop the England game and if we beat NZ and the rest of the sides (BD, AFG, SA) we will go past NZ even if we lose India game.
Haris is a proper batsman. Malik isn't. Haris is at par with malik as a bowler.
okay, ignoring all the forecasts and probability based results for a minute, can someone with better math skills than me post how big of phainty do we need to dish out to India to displace them at 4th position come sunday?
they are sitting on 5 points, we are sitting on 3 points, their NRR is .539 ours is -1.796, for more info on for/against runs/wickets, check world cup site. i know its not easy to come with one scenario as batting first/second/all-out affect it. perhaps assume two options:
1) we bat first score 350. then how much we have to get them all out for?
2) they bat first we get them all out for 180, how many overs we have to chase it in?
i know it may not be realistic, but just wanted to know in any case.
also its unlikely Sarfraz can do this, but if we know the margin, after toss when commie ask him about how much he think they want to score, he can just say, we want 350+ and then get them all out under 1xx so we can be in 4th spot after this game and not have to worry about NRR.
The gap between Pakistan’s and India’s run rate is 2.335.
Net Run Rate = (Total Runs Scored / Total Overs Faced) – (Total Runs Conceded /Total Overs Bowled)
Suppose Pakistan bats first and scores 350 in 50 overs and bowl out India for 180 (highly unlikely) in 45 overs, this could be the NRR we can get:
Net Run Rate = (350/50) - (180/45) = 7 - 4 = 3.
This will make sure Pakistan’s run rate goes from - 1.796 to + 1.204.

1. The current run rates are after 3 completed games. So they will have approximately 3 times the weight as the next single game.
2, if a side is all out in 45 overs, then the calculation is made for 50 overs.
Heavy rain has returned, same expected tomorrow. Sunday will be a washout.

Yes, just had a look outside, it's raining and pretty grim. There might not be any rain for the start of the match but I guess the outfield needs to be dry and they wont have covered the whole of it?
Amjid and Kroll,
I've been saying again and again in this thread that the match will be a washout but NO some people want to believe their BBC weather report which is quite inaccurate.
I doubt the whole square will be covered, add to that its windy as hell outdide and it making rain worse. Im in castlefield, 10 minutes away from the ground and way rains coming down now and expected tomorrow i doubt ground will be in a fit state even if its dry sunday which it wont.
