Virat kohli is better than Tendulkar .
So positive . His mental toughness puts him ahead for me .
People talk about sachin being a one man army . Well this guy just goes about it like a beast.
 
Rahane playing a gem here as well.

This could be the match-winning partnership.
 
Match winning performance from the captain. Looks so assured when you have Rahane coming at 5.
 
India has won this match already. There is simply no way SA can chase this down. Just need 50 more runs to confirm the win without any ifs and buts.
 
Rahane is batting almost at a run a ball on this pitch! What a big mistake we did in first 2 test matches!

You clearly did not watch India in the 90's, barring this series Kohli has always had 1-2 other batsman shouldering the weight of the team be overseas with likes of Vijay and rahane chipping in or at home where ChePu, rahul Vijay everyone has contributed, Tendulkar played his first decade in cricket with as much support as Kohli has had this series and bowlers who were nowhere near this level barring maybe kumble and odd spells from srinath.
 
If India wins this, then two questions are answered from Kohli's individual performance point of view:

1) Match winning performance away from home

2) Performance in tough conditions( this is one of those series where batting wasn't easy and Kohli is ending up here as leading scorer of the series.)

yes agreed Tnedulkar was carrying the whole Indian team alone.
 
If SA can get India from 134/5 to 180 all out there is still a great game ahead.
 
I am sorry but this is a terrible wicket, it is dangerous to bat on, ball keeps so low and then next ball BOOOOM it shoots back up to the sky... Batsmen from both sides getting close to injured....
 
Imagine Ambrose and Walsh bowling on this pitch, the batting team would struggle to muster even a hundred.
 
What a player Kohli is! This should be the end of “can’t play moving ball” nonsense once and for all.

This pitch has nothing on the Sabina Park wicket, which was genuinely dangerous for the batsmen because every second ball was rearing up or keeping abnormally low. The test was a bit before I started watching cricket but West Indies did score 300 there.
 
Rahane showing Kohli it was a disastrous mistake to drop him.

India might have won the series if he played in the previous matches

The only reason West Indies were able to score 300 was because the England bowling attack comprised Dominic Cork, Peter Martin, Angus Fraser and Richard Illingworth. Darren Gough could have been dangerous with his pace but he sprayed it around a bit. The pair of forties by Robin Smith in that test are among the most skillful innings against high quality pace in difficult conditions.
 
Pandya should not have been in the laying eleven for any match.play a proper bowler or bat.bits and pieces does not work in tests.

That is a very average bowling attack from England indeed.
 
Rabada never tries to bowl like this. Cuts back the ball. It just happens of the surface. So it is hard . As per Jonty the ball that got Kohli is not an usual delivery by Rabada. It just hit a crack.
 
Looks like Kohli will finish the series as the leading run getter, I think AB is closest to him but short by like 80 runs ? Kohli should be man of the series, he has had virtually ZERO preparation for this tour but captians his team to a competitive series and the leading run scorer...

This series has indicated that we have an alrounder in the form of Bhuvaneshwar (who can contribute with both bat and ball consistently! I guess that is the definition of it!) so we don't need Pandya and his occasional heroics (reserve him for T20s and ODIs where he will get the flat pitches to display that more) The problem is wicket keeper batsmen and openers.

Pitch had flattened out when he batted ... (you know the drill) :-D
 
BK deserves a promotion up the order in the upcoming tours.

In conditions like these, he should be the all rounder and not Pandya.

Pandya is a great asset on flat pitches as an all rounder.
 
Said it on the first day, this a disgusting variable bounce pitch. But SA fan was telling me we won't see any variable bounce until late 4-5th day
 
Rabada to Rahane, 5 wide, dips into the batsman and then past QDK's outstretched left arm. That bouncer climbs above the head after pitching on an off stump line and shoots off.

^Symptoms that the pitch is poor.
 
Am I the only guy in the world who feels Kumar shud bat higher than Pandya on these pitches?

The pitch is poor and high altitude that makes the ball fly adds to the optics of the rising deliveries.
 
And this has prompted another discussion between the umpires...and now they're back at that same drill from the first session. Pointing at the cracks in the pitch. Kohli seems to be signalling for the batsmen to stay away from the discussion...the umpire walks back towards Rahane and has a word. Rahane pats him on the back...and everyone is going back to their positions.

Nice to see India having great faith in their fast bowling resources.

With four pacers capable of 140+ they should be able to intimidate the SA batsmen.
