We are obsessed with having people convert to Islam. Amitabh was supposedly becoming a Muslim to when he once commented on Quran.

There were some rumors of Dhoni embracing Islam as well.

If it wasn't disturbing, it would be funny. But i find this constant need for validation disturbing. Why do you need validation of your faith from celebrities? Isn't it enough that you follow a man who you believe to be the best of humanity?

Who said that we need validation from anyone?

Look at how some poster will go crazy because he said an arabic word............

yea the insecurity if we can call it that is sad. Idk if we can call it insecurity, I don't think it's the right word but I have no clue what the right word is.

I think it's more just that a lot of people are mega fans / obsessed with these famous people and feel a connection which is why they want them to convert. Brown people take obsession with celebrities to a whole new unheard of 20th dimension compared to the average western folk which is why they care so much about what they think will happen with their lives and the hereafter - at least from their opinion.

The craziness and happiness is more a result of fandom and obsession and worship of these celebrities than insecurity imo. Like if a guy like Amitaab Bachan (sorry for butchering the name) announced that he has converted to some religion be it atheism, buddhism, etc. a lot of people in SC would blindly follow him as well.

Ronaldo is also close to accepting Islam because he donated his Golden Boot to Palestinian Children. And refuses to swap shirts with Israeli players.
these events in themselves weren't true to begin with :))

Some of the more ridiculous ones ive heard over the years are Michael Jackson converting to Islam and Britney Spears converting to Islam and potentially moving to Pakistan.

The Niel Armstrong hearin azaan on the moon never gets old

:))) are these serious?? I've never even heard of these except for Michael Jackson. Lmao at the britney spears and neil armstrong ones bahahaha. Britney Spears is a victim of MK like most of the Hollywood girls. It's pretty sad really. I highly doubt she's coming to Pakistan or becoming Muslim any time soon :)))

ehhh that's a bit OT look it up if you're not too sensitive, but it's not just a bunch of rumours it's the truth. There's proof of it every where, in Miley's latest horrifying song it's soooo obvious it's absolutely gross and they can't really do anything about it.

"The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it." ~ Joseph Mengele

We Muslims have this 'us v them' mentality; you are either one of us, or you are against us, which is why we feel good when some celebrity that we admire joins the 'Ummah'.

I have this friend who is a massive Messi fan and hopes that he embraces Islam so that he doesn't go to Hell.

It would be a quite a sight to see Messi bhai with a long beard bamboozle defenders though.

see I strongly disagree with this.

You're mentioning two different points here brotha. I mean you can either look at it from a religious standpoint or from a human celebrity standpoint.

From your statement you clearly mentioned your friend wants Messi to become a Muslim because he doesn't want him to go to hell. AKA he is a fan of Messi and cares about him whether he admits or realizes it or not.

If his standpoint was "Man just imagine the tremendous growth in the Ummah that could occur if Messi became a Muslim" he's either BSsing for his own personal agenda or he legitimately is talking from a religious standpoint than a "selfish" one.

Regardless that's how my experiences were with the Muslim Ummah anyways. My ex-girlfriend wanted Amitabh Bachan to become a Muslim because "he's super cute and I don't want him to go hell". That's a selfish motive and it's like that with everyone I've met.

Western people even the religious ones realize doing this is a bit immature and is sort of being a douch to every other religion out there and it's going a bit OTT and aren't nearly as obsessed with celebrities. Except for Zayn Malik. I've seen millions of arguments back and forth about why they believe he's a Muslim, Christian, Atheist, etc. But they all start with "I'm so proud Zayn Malik is the same religion as me OMG!" and then people get rattled cause of their hate.

I'm not sure if I understood the point you are making here. Of course he cares about Messi, and we care about celebs which is why we are hell-bent in making them Muslims because we don't want them to go to Hell.

Only we have the tickets for Heaven and like to pass them out to people, which explains our obsession with conversion, especially when it comes to celebrities we fancy.

It is also about the growth of the Ummah. We believe that it's our duty to spread Islam and invite every non-Muslim which I don't agree with, so you can say it's a bit of both. Not sure if I'd call it selfishness though, but perhaps you'd have different experiences.

There was also the story of how he heard the Azaan while on the moon. Sound cannot travel through vacuum

Muslims have their own physics. I laugh when the Ummah comments on science and then validates their nonsense with half-baked theories.

Also only Muslims only brag about how many Muslims there are and how it is the fastest growing religion. Even though this wont change the fact that there is mass corruption poverty inequality in the Muslim world. More people doesnt make you stronger if you have no brains at the top. Look at Jews they have very small numbers like 20m worldwide but are a very successful group due to emphasis on education.

We need to let go of this mentality of having tickets to Heaven and are supposed to sell it to people. If we focus on quality rather than quantity, we will get better.

80% of the Ummah is dead weight.

It cringey when you see muslims online saying ronaldo messi plz become a muslim. Or people whos favourite players are just because of their faith. Dont see people of other faiths doing that. Most of the Ummah live in poverty and oppression but they will take Solace that the Pew Report says Islam will be the fastest growing faith and this shows how God has favoured us. Despite the fact we are a laughing stock have little to no power on the world stage and a lot of people dont like us and associate us with terrorism. How did the British control us for so long when they were outnumbered 50:1 bevause of superior education

Well said.

no I think you misunderstood me. Let me clarify though.

I'm not sure if I understood the point you are making here. Of course he cares about Messi, and we care about celebs which is why we are hell-bent in making them Muslims because we don't want them to go to Hell.

Yes this is what I am saying. It's his own personal agenda and his own motives rather than a religious one. He cares about Messi and him going to heaven more than the growth of the religion.

Only we have the tickets for Heaven and like to pass them out to people, which explains our obsession with conversion, especially when it comes to celebrities we fancy.

Yes I would generally agree with this. However, I feel like the people you are mentioning here are known as "Tabliqi Jamat". Yes I suppose it's sort of nice to pass the tickets along and that's exactly what the Tabliqi do.

It is also about the growth of the Ummah. We believe that it's our duty to spread Islam and invite every non-Muslim which I don't agree with, so you can say it's a bit of both. Not sure if I'd call it selfishness though, but perhaps you'd have different experiences.

Yea see I partly agree. It is about the growth of the Ummah according to some religious sect but the average sheeple does not see this. Muslims because of the crappy quality of life we have I'm guessing and this goes for all third world countries non-muslim as well (e.g. idiot cutting his tongue off for team) become obsessed with celebrities because of a crappy lifestyle and probably because they feel like they can't do much about their own lives. This is engrained in us and hard to fight. I guess we can call it genetic idk.

Look all I am saying is fine maybe selfishness is the wrong term but your friend most likely does have a personal agenda because of his strong strong Messi bias. If Alexander Meier was looking for advice on Islam I'm GUESSING your friend would care less than he would for Messi. That's the entire point I'm making. With Muslims their own personal agendas are more the reason for this obsession rather than the growth. The people you are mentioning are Tabliqis. To them be it Messi or Alexander Meier it's the same thing. It's one human.

Thanks for elaborating. It's quite a fair and interesting assessment. Makes sense when you look at it from that perspective.

I just find it ironic. I was once trolling one direction's page and I saw one sheeple Muslim guy comment something like:

"Yo Malik we're both Muslims so maybe we should grab a beer sometime".

He takes pride in the fact that some random dude that's not even practising is of the same religion as him. A westerner really does not give a crap about that, if he/she likes his music he/she will be a fan. The dude does not even see the irony of his own statement. I mean if you really want to have a beer with Zayn Malik because he is Muslim well if that's the reason would you want to have a beer with me too? I'm a random dude off the internet but hey! I'm a Muslim! I could be a creep, a killer, a boring person but hey I'm Muslim right? Clearly it's more about the obsession then the religion attachment. These idiots treat these guys like ... yea.

yea no problem, I just wanted to clarify. BTW I also disagree with this whole door to door knocking and trying to convert everyone way of life. If anything lead by example, idk, I'm not too authorized to talk. I just see too many double standards.

Shezhad probably said the same thing to him to what he said to Dilshan, so Gayle got scared.

We shouldn't worry about what others think of us. Having said that, I do agree with your post.

I just read some of the comments. I feel sick inside. I feel like humanity is doomed. No wonder this guy thinks he's something out of this world. His fans are mental infants.

This is the problem with the guy; he thinks he's some out of this world player. Unless he gets rid of this attitude, keep him away.

That's very evident

Before the WC he said, 'My performances are there for everyone to see. I have nothing left to prove in the game.' in a few interviews

I always wonder why the interviewer doesn't counter him there and then. You don't need to go much beyond just pointing out stats

Problem is he thinks he is some 45+ averaging player in both formats with a 90+ SR in ODI's and there is no need for improvement

I feel he has a narcissistic type problem, and that is only fueled by the hundreds of fans he has on twitter. All these janasheens, including deewanas, deewanis, dil ki dhadkans who regularly comment on his stuff ...they are part of the problem.

One thing I don't understand is that don't these people not watch the matches? 17 of 31 in a T20 and his fan base is increasing ...

He should follow Sachin's footsteps.

I cant believe he is saying this now though

You would have thought that being dropped unceremoniously after a poor WC and following it up by being embarrassed in a t20 game against Bangladesh would have made him take a stock of things and realize where he stands

That's because the interviewer was Muhammad Wasim and he is a big supporter of him

Him favoriting a tweet which said Azhar ali doesn't deserve to be captain and he should be the captain alone calls for him to be dropped for a year from all formats

cant believe he even thought that he was in the running or somehow deserves it

man he annoys me to no end

Spot on..

they are mostly run by him or his friends/agents

He is a centrally contracted cricketer. He should be focusing on his training and making runs rather than being on twitter and running multiple accounts....if that is true

Ive also heard this that these fan club accounts are made by him and his friends. He should quit cricket to become a full time tweeter

That's stupid then. He is a cricketer, not a fashion model. Judge him by his runs, not his looks.

He has been playing for a while now in the ODI side and is still 33rd in the ICC ODI batting rankings, James Faulkner is above him

Might as well going into a career of marketing on social media then, quit cricket

its very evident. doesn't take an Einstein to figure out that they are all run by the same person. Esp the ones which are like Ahmad's angel, Ahmad ki deewani and whatnot

Lol, not sure how true that is, sometimes I think he might be rubbing themselves :P

But he already think highly of himself and those accounts are going to just spur that belief.

This is no suprise to me since he idholizes Afridi. Who also got famious for those very things.

On the positive side atleast Umar Akmal seems to have learnt sth and hopefully isn't posting creep pics anymore lol

haha imagine if there was twitter/facebook at start of afridi's career

I used to think he was very mature off the field but twitter destroyed all those opinions. but he's still nothing compare to shezad

I honestly see no difference in both of these two in terms of acting all high and mighty. Afridi could probably see a younger version of him in Shehzad.

One thing I like about Shehzad though. Under his arrogance there is a smart thinker. I saw some pictures of him going to some hospitals to please some fans. It is a nice gesture no matter what the cause maybe.

tbh Afridi has never claimed or acted as if he is some world class player. he knows where he is at. maybe a matchwinner at times but not world class by any means

Shehzad seems to genuinely believe that he is the best thing since sliced bread

Well was Afridi this way even when he was not married? Because majority of the times some immature minds turn out like Shehzad.

Realiatically I don't really see Shehzad going that far with the attitude he has. But then you have players like Kohli.

That's poor from Shehzad, actuating his average to that of the players from the early-to-late 90's and 00's is pathetic.

Please don't compare Kohli to Shehzad

Kohli is very serious abt his game and always looking to learn and improve himself.

And he doesn't overrate himself either

I would like to know how did he pull those stats? are they just his first 4 yrs?

hes been playing for 6 years so the fact that he didn't show any upward trend after 4 yrs and his average is still 34 at a terrible SR of 70 means that that is his level pretty much

all the other batsmen showed upward trajectory in performance and the number they put

He posted another one before comparing himself exclusively to tendulkar and how he had a higher average after X number of games.
Its amazing how deluded he is
