What's new

Ireland vs Pakistan | Only Test | Dublin | May 11-15, 2018 | Day 2 | Match Thread

babajee you'll often come across the Fawad Alam brigade.

Must resist confronting them, they know nothing but spreadsheets. ;)

Pakistan's approach from the start has been downright abysmal.

They knew they'll be facing swing and seam movement and should have been looking for bad balls to put away and leave majority of the balls that need not to be touched.

They kept blocking and blocking and crawled their way through 2 sessions and still went on to lose their wickets for not scoring enough runs.

Mostly playing at 1 to 2 runs an over and only now they are going at over 3.

Lovely shot. Pitch is nicely flattening out under the sun so we should aim for 300 from here.

This is the first time I've hardly seen anyone celebrate fours on a match thread.

not only do these 2 needs to stay on, they need to try and get to 280 before the new ball

once the ball is taken, things might wrap up pretty quickly

Batting in 1st session wasnt easy.
But they shouldnt have lost this many wickets.

Youngsta beauties fighting back well.

very good batting by these two, also batting quite fearlessly as they know not much to come to better just look to score and get as much as possible instead of going into a shell. The top order batsmen have a different kind of pressure and expectations from them.

Which they should be able to handle much better being top order batsmen.

Where did I say that it was easy?

I said the same that they knew they'll be tested as that's what test cricket is all about and they needed to be able to deal with the team they were facing.

Leave the balls outside their offstump and anything lose/bad balls to be put away.

You can't crawl at 1 run an over just for the sake of showing how difficult it is to play. It isn't a minefield not that was swinging miles either.

They scored at just over 1 an over mostly and lost their wickets on top which is a win win for the opposition as they knew they didn't leak anything and yet got wickets.

Not much pace in this pitch as we can see. Shadab's spin may also come into play especially given Irish batsmen's weakness against spin.

Well that started from the top with senior Azhar Ali. He will always bats like that.

18 off the over !

43 runs from the last 10 overs and fifty for Faheem Ashraf. Well played kid - thank god for this partnership.

Good thing with this team is that they are genuinely happy for each others success.

Good thing about this partnership is that it’s pretty much been 50-50.

One hand washes the other.

Irish are showing their inexperience at this level - allowed 7th pair to add 100 at almost 4!!! These runs'll hurt them.

This is just getting started. We haven’t even seen Faheem’s extra gear.

Imagine instead of Shadab and Faheem, some combination of Hafeez, Akmal, Maqsood were playing.

Credit where due to Inzamam. He is giving youngsters a chance even at the risk of losing a few games. The only way to rebuild the team.

So excited!

where are the wrist slitter? OMG pak 'll fail, if xyz player was here it would have been great, dooms day... so much for the nonsense comments.

The new generation of T20 cricket have no idea about test cricket.

Do you guys remember what Amir did last time against Ireland? He was unplayable. :amir3
