Both Shadab (52*) and Faheem (61*) look set for centuries so will Pakistan play on or will they worry about a shortened game due to rain and get Ireland batting asap?

The forecast is good for today and tomorrow and a bit iffy on Tuesday.
My guess is we can get 190 overs of play in at worst so I would look to bat for 25 and then bowl. We need to enforce the follow on to win.
A lot depends on current partnership. If one of the falls the rest should just go hell for leather
 
This morning will be tough, morning conditions are a lot diffrent to conditions in the afternoon

The new ball is also around the corner and it will likely to swing more in the morning

If these two survive a couple of hours and add another 70-80 odd runs between them

I will rate them highly

Smash it around for an hour and get to 350, then look to have a crack at the Irish before lunch.

No point hanging around given how many overs have been lost.
 
Got to admit with tours we have this year, I'm excited to see what Shadab can do with bat and ball. A chance to increase his reputation.
 
Morning session is crucial.

Don't loose a wkt in the first half hour, then look to aim for 350.

An early loss or 2 could mean a score or around 300 which while decent isn't a commanding one.
 
This partnership is showing the importance of left/right hand combination.

Sick of us stacking our batting line up with right handers.
 
In domestic cricket Faheem must bat 5 or 6 and bowl 20 plus overs a day and 10 overs in list A cricket. This will improve him a lot.

In these tests he will have a lot of chances to bowl.

Shadab gone. A shame there's no reviews because that looks like it's going down the legside.
 
Test for Faheem to see if he can see off the new ball and how he bats with the tail.
 
That was really poor umpiring. MIssing leg stump easily.
 
Amir may as well play some shots. He isn't very good when he plays defensive.
 
Faheem is so gifted.Has a wide range of shots. If somehow he tightens his defence, he can serve Pak cricket for quite some time.

Much better than all rounders like Bhatti, Annu, Tanvir etc that we had in past.

Hope faheem does not go the same route as them

Yeah I wasn't expecting much from him with the bat given his FC average of 30 but maybe that's as he hasn't had chances to build a longer innings higher up the order.

We need batting ARs in Tests so any prospective batting AR needs to be able to justify a spot in the team with their batting alone which Shadab and Ashraf could do. Their bowling is a bonus, I'd only want 8-10 overs per innings from them if we're going with a 5 man attack.

He would inshallah with time. I remember watching him few years ago and was an awful Batsmen and now look at him.
 
Finally Amir connects, bit streaky.

Has the potential to make consistent and important contributions but avg of 13 is disappointing.

Exactly. A v.hard working cricketer. One extra reason to like him.

Bowling mai bhi he atleast improved his pace by 6-7ks in an year once he is with the team.

He hasn't had enough chances with the bat. Its clear from watching him bat. He has talent. He just needs opportunities and time in the middle order.
 
Amir should watch carefully to Irish bowlers. By bowling defensively he is not going anywhere.

Faheem is a proper bowler. He is a frontline pacer in our domestic cricket. People here are doing a great disservice to his talent as a bowler by saying his bowling is a bonus.

Will go onto become one of our better LOI bowlers. Not sure of his credentials as a Test level bowler right now.
 
No pointing to waste time!!! Declare please. Ireland will not score over 250.
 
Fully ecpect at least 3 Irish wickets down before lunch.

Proud of the bowling effort though, have competed hard

Lot will depend on our slip catching. Hopefully they are up to scratch.
 
The Irish will get a partnership for the first wicket but then the wheels will come off and they will be 5 down before they get to a hundred.
 
What is the point of declaring at 9 wickets down? Also denied Murtagh a well deserved 5 wicket haul in the process.
