Joe Root vs Sachin Tendulkar comparison

Because of t20 leagues you will see less and less traditional type batsman. Even Kohli was very good for a period of 5 years. From 2014-2019 Kohli batting average in tests was 68. Joe Root's best phase is from 2020 - 2025 which is just 54. Anyone with old traditional approach would pile a lot of runs even in this era. GIll showed in one series. Jaiswal showed in another serires. Both crossed 700 plus runs in a series.

Are the new English batters good like Root? They seem like Bazball/T20 hacks.

It is also true for other countries. Batting quality has gone down. They are good for T20 batting but not Test batting.

Therefore, it is possible Root's record may not get broken if he gets there.
There will always be great test batters coming in. A lot of stuff has to coincide for even the greats to get a chance to play international cricket for 15 years. Can't rule that out ever unless Test cricket is restricted to like ODIs have permanently.

Where is @Narayana59 today? Wont bump this post?

Joe Root is flat track and rubbish bowlers bully. Personally I rate him even below Kohli in test cricket, let alone Tendulkar.

current is not even close to being the best ever.

Back then, it was almost impossible for teams to cross 300+ against Australia and it was a rare site when teams did so.

india winning that 2001 test series was celebrated by every nation except Australia. Tells you how top and lethal that Australian side was

The current unit is fantastic. Whilst I fully acknowledge Warne Mcgrath Lee Gillespie was a incredible Unit, I'd have Cummins Hazlewood starc over Gillespie And possibly lee any day.

Sachin Tendulkar reached 14,000 Test runs in 279 Test innings.

Joe Root has played 298 Test innings and is yet to reach 14,000 Test runs.

A mere 19 innings more and has yet not reached 14,000 Test runs.
