we can win this match as well

that's probably the last thing on their minds right now...much more important to get some batting practice.

Nonsense being talked about Afridi again...

When was the last time Afridi bowled in a 3 day game, let alone in a test match!!

I dont care if he bowls 10 overs or 4 overs in every limited overs game he plays in, he still needs to practice in the longer game..His lines, lengths and the pace etc will be different in the longer game...test Matches are not about getting wickets by drying up the runs!!!

Having said that, its still early days on this tour and hopefully he'll either bowl last in this match or in the next practice match...

were you referring to my post immy ?

I honestly believe afridi the leg spinner will do well in test cricket. He has good variety and gets drift also umpire now a days give lbws more often. But he will need to have good bowling temperament as there will be times when going will get tough.

I was referring to the other posts where they were arguing that Afridi doesnt need to bowl since he always bowls his full quota in Odi's and T20's and hence doesnt need the extra practice!!!

I agree with this :14:

However he needs to move away from odi/t20 containment mode and start giving the ball flight and a good tweak..If he can get his drift going too then he'll be extremely dangerous in the test matches...

I would have liked to see him bowling a long spell against Kent because I think that with a firing afridi we dont need to have another specialist spinner in the side (i.e. Kaneria) and can add another seam bowler to the line-up!.

Does anyone remember how many overs Afridi used to bowl in a spell under the captaincy of Inzi in that tour to India where he was so influential with the ball?

Agree with you 100%.The main reason I critisize afridi is his reluctance from playing test cricket because he could have played a lot more and :danish averaged 35.

wahab riaz, never really impressed me. at least he got a chance. dont think he'll get any proper games this summer.

Afridi bowled in 4 innings against India in that 2004-05 series.

He bowled 21, 15, 10.4 and 17 overs in innings.

I think Afridi has that kind of stamina to bowl that much overs in an innings no matter if he bowls or not in a three day game.

Reminds me of the days when I was an afridi fan.

yeah well thats right.

Test cricket needs different variety which needs to be practiced now that a chance is available.

Pakistan should bowl them out and then just have a long batting net, Aamer and Gul seems to have got a decent bowl and are lookin in form so there is no need to over bowl them.

the back up seamers scare me Riaz is serving rubbish while I don't rate Tanvir. If god forbid there is some injury then better fly Irfan or Asad Ali from Pakistan then play any of these two.

So??? Yes he is superfit, one of the fittest in the squad, So???

The point is not about fitness but the fact that he needs to adjust to bowling in the longer game and by this I am not talking about the volume of overs but the fact that he has to adjust his bowling to suit test cricket as opposed to odi's and t20's....

He will not change his style of bowling. Thats what he did even in that series against India. He gets most of his wickets in the limited overs formats from the balls which goes straight on and get the batsmen in front of wickets, and he will use the same sort of balls to get wickets in Tests.

I will be hugely surprised if Afridi changes his wicket taking deliveries. Lately he has been some flight even in limited overs cricket, so he will be bowling the same way as he bowls in T20s or ODIs.

Wahab riaz is not good enough to be a back up bowler

whats ur point?
riaz has worse best figures and rehman is a full time spinner
whilst malik is not just an allrounder but a batting allrounder.

show me another batting allrounder in the world with better first class figures than that and then talk sarcastically with me.

I saw him train on sunday, a very very good fielder. He bowls quick too!

seems to be a decent workout for Pakistan.Scores from Butt,Amin,Malik and Afridi will complete a satisfactory game.

5 for Aamer, still don't see the point for bowling him when kaptan sahab has rolled his arm even once yet.

Well bowled Aamer. Two young future stars have performed in this game: Umar and Aamer ! Wonderful to see for Pakistan cricket and cricket in general... the successes of youthfulness!

Wuss the score Ravi Shastriezzz, Rajaz and boycotts of pp?

Why insult the PPers? :p

Wonder why Afridi's not bowling....

pakistan should get them all out and just bat for the remainder of today and tomorrow

Very disappointed to see that Abdur Rehman couldn't even get a single wicket thus far against a very very weak Kent batting line-up.

DONT WORRY YAAR YOU CANT TAKE WICKETS IN EVERY MATCH EVEN THE BEST BOWLERS DONT TAKE WICKETS SOME TIMES :)

we should have got them out by tea... but nevertheless... get them within 20 mins.. now .. bat as much you can...

first i thought they should go for a win . . and play super aggressively ....but i think.. umar amin and fawad alam should take their own sweet time in the middle and score some runs..

COMPLETLEY THATS HOW THEY ARE GOING TO IMPROVE THEIR GAME AND GET USE TO THE CONDITIONS

they should play the last session, and then 2 and a half sessions tommorow and give kent half a session, i think bowling is good their batting needs improvement hence time in the middle is crucile.

is afridi too confident about his bowling that he dont need practice?

is afridi concentrating too much on his batting ? though he scored a ducK..

What the hell yaar,Get rid of the tail now......
Our batsmen need to spend as much time in the middle as possible....:butt

Its all good to have pratice but Pakistan should treat every game as some what serious and try to win.

Winning and losing become habbits, regardless of the opposition. A few wins in a row leading to the first test v Aus will give the players confidence of overturning the Kangaroos.

inn logon sey Kent naheen out hoti, Australia ko khaaq out karengey! :po:

Malik and Fawad are bowling atm....

I guess they dont want to bat again in the match.......:butt...

I am surprised Afridi has not had a bowl. Don't tell me he thinks he's been selected as a specialist batsman?!

why isnt afrid bowling? seems like he is a bit over-confident :S

Not sure what it is.

Could be an injury concern, perhaps?

It's fine to not bowl a lot, but surely he could have rolled his arm just to keep fresh?

20 overs remaining in the day....

Come on U Amin, time to show your talent and class....
