Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad will be the center of attention today on Thursday as it hosts the inaugural match of the Champions One-Day Cup. The highly anticipated clash between the newly renamed Markhors (formerly known as Wolves) and the Panthers is set to begin at 3 pm local time and 10 am GMT.

The star-studded Markhors will be captained by Mohammad Rizwan, with the experienced Misbahul Haq guiding the team as their mentor. On the opposing side, the Panthers will be under the leadership of Shadab Khan, with the legendary Saqlain Mushtaq serving as their mentor.

I'm gonna route for Markhors. Don't get me wrong I hate rizzu but it's unfortunate that Fakhar is in this team and my allegiance lies with fakhar. But if fakhar zaman fails then idrc.

Also I better not see rizwan and Chacha in the playing 11

Rizwan is captain so he is gonna be there. I hope Iffi is not.

I'm aware, just hoping. Also the other reason I have to go with rizzu's team is because I hate shadab Khan even more, However I will say this, Shadab's team looks more interesting and I hope to see them perform.

Rizzu's team is mostly household names.
 
Who is Abdul Samad? Is he the same Abdul Samad who is 26 year old and played for PIA and averaging 12.85 after 20 FC innings as a specialist batter , if Yes then what's the point of having this tournament and select overage domestic crap.

What hes going to learn from this tournament and what mentorship he will part on Junior players?

It's not the point , if you want to give junior player a chance then let it from the U19 or U21 batch and not some random 26 year old (with an actual age around 30) with an abysmal FC record , it will only dilute the quality of tournament even further.

It’s been a pattern over the last 4/5 years each season I have witnessed dozens of unknown players ageing around 26-30 gets debut in premier FC tournaments and end up having horrendous batting or bowling stats , I wonder they are being added so that the regular domestic players can dominate them and better their record and get in to national team?

How will our cricket improve if the U19 players never get a chance in premier tournaments and random nobodies keep appearing and getting destroyed in these tournaments, Naqvi should look in selection matters and criteria.
 
Both teams are looking well balanced for their standards. I think Panthers have a better chance here.

Pakistan cricket will never improve when potential players like Arafat Minhas is not given chance. Pathetic and shameful from Fulltoss shadab and Qudrat ka nizam.

Tbf, Sheddy is a better captain then rizzu in terms of onfield tactics and drs atleast.

He's a crap player but as a captain solely he's okayish
 
This Hasnain guy always does better in domestic matches, gets selected, gets trashed against international teams, and then gets dropped or injured.
 
Only 2-3 teams have got a sponsor. Cricket like the economy of Pakistan is really in dire state. Nobody is willing to sponsor these teams

Not sure what happened to Amad last year as he only played 3 National T20 Cup matches all season.

However he's done well in domestic 50 over competitions in recent years. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2022/23 Pakistan Cup after Ihsanullah, the fifth leading wicket-taker in the 2021/22 edition, and joint highest in 2019/20.

Real trier but can be expensive.

Naw it isn't. Faisalbad pitch has turn and some uneven bounce.

Way way better then pindi pitch, and musbashir bowled well. Fakhar was attacking but I could tell mubashir had his no

They signed a 3 year deal with CricViz back in 2021. It was one of the last things Wasim Khan did before his departure.


Whether our coaches/mentors are making good use of it is another matter !
 
This faizan guy, he has one heck of a backfoot, Babar should take lessons from him. But he needs to get put of the habit of premdiatation. Good bowlers I international won't let him do that

Yeah the analysis part is one thing. What I meant is at least have some ball tracking so that analysts have something to work with.

Or at the very least a speed gun . Analysts can manually log line, length and speed data at the very least even without tracking.
 
Mubasir khan is pretty impressive so far. Tight lines from him. Good to see an off-spinner who can be called an all-rounder as well
