Except that during the Cold War it's the US that were more interested in going to war for Pakistan than USSR for India, despite Pakistan often being the agressor. It's true that you could simply attribute that to Pakistan being weaker than India.
The relationship only started to deteriorate after the cold war (if you ignore the years of socialist bhutto), partly because the U.S. didn't need Pakistan to contain communism anymore but that doesn't change the fact that they were the biggest pakistani ally during the cold war yet Pakistan's two minds about them didn't allow the pakistanis to take full advantage of their support in the Kashmir issue.
Even on the nuclear programme, just compare what is happening with Iran to how US dealt with Pakistan. They built nuclear reactors in Pakistan during the 60s and were unofficially complicit in the nuclear programme during the 80s, both of which could be argue to have played a role in the eventual nuclear status of Pakistan. Again, it all went sour after the end of the cold war but, in this instance, Pakistan got what they wanted by then.
Pakistan also had mutual defense treaties both unofficial (with the U.S.) and official one with the UK, which, iirc, was not the case for India and Russia.
Also, you can't ignore that the US won the cold war and Russia lost. Russia was in no position to ignore India after the war while the US had the whole world at their feet.
In short, I think that the US did more for Pakistan than Russia for India.
