New Zealand 24/0 at Stumps on Day 2 after Pakistan made 418/5d (Haris Sohail 147, Babar Azam 127*)

Our batsmen gave Grandhomme too much respect. It appears all the batsmen were playing for their spot.

Your post doesn't make sense. Every time our batsmen tried to play shots against CDG they they kept edging it. In order to not get out they gave him respect and that makes them selfish? He took the wickets of the openers in no time, so it would have been foolish for Haris and Azhar to play risky shot against him when they already edged it against him couple of times.

What is the difference between playing for the spot and playing for the team in this case? Were Hafeez and Imam playing for the team? Imam played his shots but got out because of that. So playing aggressively is being selfish, and Haris who played conservatively so we wouldn't lose more wickets is also selfish for playing slowly?

If we start well I can see quick run from sarfaraz and the tail with a 450 score.
A couple of early wickets however...

A Score between 325-350 is needed. This pitch is not a 400 plus wicket, Kiwiz will struggle later on today. Bilal Asif might have a green day if given an opportunity to ball.

216/4 - Haris needs to play a big innings here

One solid partnership and couple of small cameos can get Pakistan to a good score here , harris should look to get a big score here , not a hundred but a big one.

Intent to score run is missing, you add one extra single every two overs add 50 runs on board, that is not asking for a lot. They are not looking to score runs specially Harris...

This is partly UAE effect, after UAE not just in test, but in LOIs were dot ball percentage has gone up and our pace playing skills going down....

Sohail could easily cut couple of that short of back of the length balls on off rather than defending with straight bat all the time, that can convert to single/double...

Cdg has looked very threatining in this match.

Looks like 75-80 MPH Bowles are more useful in uae than 85-90 most of the time ;-)

Slow and low bounce and off the wicket helps them. 85/90 MPH ball comes nicely here...

Rain is expected today and tomorrow in Dubai

One of the worst test innings i have witnessed. Still not set.
Grinding out ugly runs by Haris is a plus mostly he has looked pretty and givin it away in 30s this is a positive I believe and will be good for him in the future

For gods sake stop playing cricket in UAE. Boring cricket and doesnt suit our style either.

Could have been out 4 5 times. He is just blocking everything without any sense of purpose and given that rain is expected this innings makes less and less sense as it progresses.

Well played Haris 2nd Test Hundred.

Also this is the 24th slowest test hundred in terms of balls faced.

Wait till both teams have batted once to judge a knock

can somebody plz put tape to Bazid's mouth. His commentary is a torture :((

What a gutsy inning by Haris to curb his natural stroke play and play for team's cause.

Must be the slowest in last 10 years or faf is there too?

In last 10 years the slowest are as follow:

1. TMK Mawoyo (327 balls) vs Pakistan
2. Azhar Ali (319 balls) vs England at this same venue
3. Tamim Iqbal (312 balls) vs Zimbabwe
4. Faf du Plesis (310 balls) vs Australia
5. Haris Sohail (309 balls) vs NZ
6. Neil McKenzie (308 balls) vs England

Those are all the 300+ ball hundreds in the last 10 years.

Should look to get 25+ runs before the lunch break ideally would like to get to 290 by lunch.

Haha , how could i forget azhar.

Great news, lets keep batting like we are playing for a draw currently.

it is not confirmed yet and even if that is the case it is scattered and may not even happen in dubai sports city and surrounding part of dubai.

Because rain generally happens area or city wise in dubai.

Pakistan right on top now, splendid batting so far today...I think the plan is to bat once and bat BIG!

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...=span;template=results;type=team;view=innings

Inns where pakistan have batted in 1st inns of match in UAE and inns has last more than 90 overs (days full play)

Pakistans current run rate 2.28

272 runs in 4 sessions

Average scoring rate under criteria given 3.18 (projecting score 381 after 120 overs)

All this nonsense about UAE and tough scoring, this is by far the slowest pakistan has scored in a 90 overs inns batting 1st, yeag its a tesr match, but in these conditions you need as much time as possible to tske 20 wickets also.

Overs bowled by New Zealand = 120. Extras conceded =1

120 overs bowled, and only 1 run they conceded as extra.

what a bowling performance.

Pakistan have basically wasted an extra session with there pathetic slow scoring.

If this game ends a draw then this will be one of reasons why.

We need to wait and see how NZ bat to judge this Pakistan innings. Although Haris' dead batting to deliveries in his zone is befuddling

babar is batting so well, should go on a nd get a 100.. Am Feeling positive about this game now. Just need to bat once and bat big. :kakmal

Hopefully Pakistan keep batting like this and finish the day 400/6, we aren't winning this Test so the more overs they waste the better.

If Pakistan are going to play this game, shut down the runs and let them take 3 days to score 500.

A draw seals a drawn series.

Pakistans average scoring rate in UAE in tests overall since 2010 - 2.86

Current 2.38 (60 runs below par)
