What's new

New Zealand (344/9) defeat Pakistan (271) by 73 runs in the first ODI to lead the 3-match series 1-0

This Abbas guy was born in Lahore and he is torturing his home country. Very bad.

Deserves a half century. Well played. NZ keep finding brilliant talents even with such tiny population.

he Was born Lahori sure but never been raised in Pak like Usman Khawaja.. it tells you we have broken system..talent exists

Born in Pakistan. Completely debunks Pakistan mai talent nai hai theory, as it shows what good coaching and system can produce.
You also need to stay away from Biriyanis.

Can we persuade him to play for his home nation??
Real question should be, why can't we develop such players in Pakistan. Apart from technique, this guy has shown that calm confidence that we rarely see in our batsmen.

Bro, they would have introduced him 6/7 years too late and he'd be 2st over weight without any proper coaching.
Or they would have played him 6/7 years too early to destroy him.

Talent exists everywhere in the world. You need to nurture that. I mean if someone is born in Netherlands but gets good coaching and some basic skill.. he can turn out to be good. Pakistanis just keep harping on talent.

Imran Tahir
Usman Khawaja
Muhammad Abbas
Sikander Raza

Pakistani Genes doing well in other countries

345 is a slightly above par target.

I guess NZ needed it also given that Bracewell, Abbas and Nathan probably have to bowl 30 ovs.

Oh my god A Calm, fit Pakistani batter. Am i dreaming @jnaveen1980
Definitely opposite of how current pak players look. Pakistan players they have big belly, double chin. There are a couple of guys who are thin. But they are too scrawny. You don't see atheltically strong players there. Overly bulked up upper body with a bit of belly.

I am hoping Babar comes of age and finally scores a century after 2 years of isolation and wilderness.

@heddie19 will celebrate the century as Pakistan lose by 50 runs.

yes thats why i said we have broken system but blame goes on lack of talent when we fail.. and our ex cricketers tell us that we cant find anyone

The greatest justice ever…

Usman Khwaja
Imran Tahir
Sikander Raza
And now this Muhammad Abbas

This is pure justice for a nation that makes Babar and Rizwan their category A players

Why did they go all out to convince Usman Khan not top play for UAE but couldn't go for this kid instead?

A guy named Antum Naqvi is batting with an average of 70 in fc in zimbabwe.
Another lost talent.

The only thing noticeable about Abbas was that he was not a blind tulla neither was he a constipated Rizbar.

I think this comes with training and confidence and inculcation of self-belief that simply doesnt exist in Pakistani system.

All his shots and technique and approach had NZ written all over it.

He wouldnt have made it in Pakistan.

What’s the issue with Usman Khan? What’s he supposed to do after making a complete mockery of your domestic standards?

You guys really don’t know who to hate and who to rate!

Looking forward to how Usman bats today.

I suspect Pakistan went with 7 batsmen being afraid of top order collapse. 7th batsman is basically there to cover the failures of top order. If you go in with 4 bowlers who are hit or miss with bat that means all the runs have to come from top 7. Since Pakistan has no genuine AR they settled for this combo. It is also dangerous to go with 6 batsmen. Without all rounders in pace friendly conditions pakistan cannot get a balanced team

I’ve been watching cricket since 2005, and today is the first time I feel we’ve finally reached the level of minnow teams.

We used to win a few odd matches against top teams, but now it’s embarrassingly uncompetitive. Our bowling is lacking any flare, everyone seems mentally weak, and the batting is equally poor.

The nation is passionate about cricket, but few people seem to play it or are interested in pursuing a career as a cricketer. At this rate, we could be ranked even lower than Bangladesh

This is very alarming for cricket as a game, as there were once 6-7 competitive teams, and now it’s just 3-4.

Well thank you Imran Khan, Wasim Khan, Misbah ul Haq and Muhammad Rizwan.

Khawaja really annoyed me and now this.

If I see a world class pakistani pacer debut for another team I am going to have a meltdown.

There’s 100s of talented Pakistanis like Abbas in Pakistan, who just don’t have the skills development that NZ system offers.

From such a small pool, NZ is able to squeeze out juice time and again.
