New Zealand (346/5) comprehensively defeat Pakistan (345/5) by 5 wickets in their first warm-up game in the ICC World Cup 2023

Usama has recovered we after opening with sbsolute dross. It seem he needs lots of overs to sort out his line & length, hopefully he gets a chance to play next game too along with Shadab.
 
Last 5 overs have been good by Pakistan: 17/2 @3,40

5, your fav rizwan retired after scoring a ton. We can play the same batters/ARs in an international game too. Point is that not all of them were batters and it seemed like a proper ODI lineup
 
Usama mir is a good bowler surprisingly. He needs to be groomed on line and length.

He pitches it full way too much or on the leg side to much. When he actually pitches in on a good length and straight his height and alight turn makes him extremely difficult to play.

Way way better then shadab or Nawaz or Agha lol
 
Usama Mir hasn't had the run of games that Shadab has. If he did, no one would be doubting his credentials.
 
It's important to keep the Shadab and Nawaz combination unchanged, as they both possess some batting skills. Swapping either of them would extend our tail. Usama Mir should remain on the bench unless either Nawaz or Shadab sustains an injury

And to add to this, we need to show more intent with the bat. 80 from 84 & 103 form 94 is too slow on a pitch like this

It really is inexcusable especially on a wicket that is offering more assistance to the spinners.

It wouldn't surprise me if Babar deep down wants Usama Mir to fail so he can justify the selection of Shadab.

The decision to not bowl Shadab could also be to prevent the comparisons of him vs Usama + other spinners.

Hell will freeze over before babar and rizwan can do that.

It isn't their fault tbh, they just aren't the type of players to be able to increase their Sr to 120 to 140+ at the back end. They can only do so against minnows.
 
Usama did well in the end I guess he finally found the length to ball at
 
Without Shaheen and Naseem this looks like a pop-gun attack. England and the Aussies will decimate these bowlers. And the Aussie will smash this attack in the Tests in Australia like they did last time.

No, it is not. The openers dropped the ball today. Babar and Rizwan were fantastic.
 
One thing is for sure since the Afghanistan series our fielding been going down and down. If they want to win a single match in the WC they better hope they take all the catches because on Indian pitches you can't drop 2-3 chances
 
This Wasim Jr is the absolute worst cricketer we have in the squad and that is saying something when we a few characters in there.

On that basis he would not be bowling Agha or Nawaz either as many claim they are only in the team because they are his friends. It was not obvious from start of the match that NZ would play spinners well, so he could had easily bowled him ahead of Agha. Lets not make stuff up, Shadab is not to be bowled today most likely as he is trying other options too. New Zealand had a quite session currently he could had easily brought Shadab for an over or two. I am no fan of his captaincy either.
 
Usama justifying his place in the squad. I wouldn't pick him over Shadab though unless Shaddy is awful in the next warmup.

We need a specialist spinner. Someone who can pick wickets in middle overs.
Bits n pieces will never deliver anything substantial
 
Why didn’t Babar and Rizwan retire after 50?

Why did the guys who needed game time only get 15-17 overs to bat?
 
Disappointing last over but well bowled Usama Mir. Unlucky with those 2 dropped catches off his bowling.

Shadab would've gone for at least 8 an over.

He was averaging 24 before the Asia cup. This is a very flat pitch and Wasim has had an off day.
 
If we win the toss against Australia, we need to bat second. This pitch is very flat.

Shadab ain't bowling in warm ups he's a permanent member of the playing 11

While not a fan of shadabs bowling anymore, but if shadab is given overs than its unfair to other bowlers.

Its a 50 over game, and i believe usama, waseem jr and hasan ali should get full 10 overs of practice. I think pakistan will have another game where they can give shadab 5 overs or so.

Brother, Babar played the same 11 even against Nepal and in the Afghanistan series.

Tayyab was dropped from the squad despite not even getting a game.

They ain't the type of give any opportunities. The whole drama on this such and such player lacking experience is all hokus pokus, Abdullah has less list A experience then probably anyone on the squad, he's simply in because Babar is a fanboy for his technique.

The whole opportunity isn't applicable besides the openers that babar liked and himself. Middle order ki Khair hai.
 
This is the same ground where Shubman Gill got his 200.
India scored ~350 and NZ were 131-6 after 29 overs. Then Bracewell with some help from Santner almost won it for NZ.
It is a patta but under lights you can middle the ball blindfolded here.
 
This bowling attack is a serious concern. Winning won't come easy with this lineup. And seriously, what's the logic behind taking Wasim Jr.? He can't swing, can't maintain a good line.
 
We were telling you to beg amir to come back. But you thought Hassan and Wasim were better!
 
One good thing with this squad is that don't have to stay up to watch the games at night, there is no hope with this friend's squad.

For Bobby captain his relationship with Amir prevented him from picking Amir rather than what the team required. With this kind of captains we can never succeed.

IK repeatedly called Miandad his best batsman even though they weren't on talking terms.
