New Zealand (402 & 110/2) secure a comprehensive 8 wicket win against India (46 & 462) in the first Test to lead the 3-match series 1-0

NZ are rubbish in subcontinent, They couldn't beat even Pakistan at their worst and on wickets which were actually flat.

Kl is a freeloader actually. Pant's injury is a big drawback for India here. This partnership is the one that can save the game.
 
Had Gill been fit, Sarfaraz won't even have played this test. Such has been our selection.

We needed to survive (Needed to lose at max 2 wickets) in the 1st session on day 1 and things would have been easier. But we couldn't.

All they needed yo do was score like 150 runs in the first innings. Pathetic batting.

Then maybe 1st innings nz wouldn't have crossed 300 even.

We have this knack of getting bundled out for less than 100 quite a few times

76 at Ahmedabad against Steyn-led SA
36 at Adelaide against Aus
66 at Durban against way back in '96
46 in this test

Had we even added another 100 runs to these totals, results may have been different in these tests.

Adelaide especially was such a close game at the end of 1st innings for both teams.
 
First target should be going to stumps today without losing any more wickets.

Then start afresh tomorrow.

Looking at the scorecard, my first thought was that the sun must be out today. Good to see Kohli back in the runs again.

The Kiwis have been getting serious IPL contracts for years now. It didn't stop them from bowling India out for 46.

You Pakistanis need to come up with better conspiracy theories. The ones you are putting out have all been rubbished, beaten and buried long ago.

A target of 150+ will be difficult here but can India do that. There is a lot more on offer for seamers and spinners now. Legend has it that Rahul comes good in test matches in these conditions

Logically we need to add 300 runs to have a chance. Can be done but very very low likelihood.

Only the incredible achievements of the India team over the last 10 years give us some home. Else we shouldn't have any right to dream.

Last ball wicket has tilted the game fully in favor of NZ. if india have to draw this they have to bat atleast 110 more overs

He was literally dropped not too long before that. He did ok when conditions were OK to bar. Soft 70 won't help much. Needed a big score here and he failed. Yet again. Choker for a reason.

Still Rahul, Pant, Ashwin, Jadeja, Kuldeep to come. A big partnership of 150+ if India manages will be a game on. First session tomorrow will decide the fate of the match. Still NZ game unless this happens

Choker choked through out the tourney and was carried by our bowlers.

Then had one half decent game in the final where he again accelerated quite slowly and put a lot of pressure on other batsmen.

He ain't no atg.

Watch his average dip to 45 by the time he retires.

And people who think he will perform in bgt. Loool. You have no hope in he'll. Good luck. If he is dropped india have a chance to draw in bgt. If he plays india lose

Pant has a poor record vs one team and its nz.

Seems like collectively Pant bumrah rohit and co choose to bend over for nz. The one team they fare bad against.

DOn't worry . It will be a small day. india is psychologically knocked down cold in the last ball. They will never recover from this. THey will fold before tea under pressure given that Pant can't bat and KL Rahul can't handle pressure.

Rohit I will keep for a little longer he still has some ability.

However, Kohli, Rahul needs to be shown the door ASAP......

2 Players who hardly ever show up is too costly to be in a test side that has just an avg batting with only 1 or 2 quality batsmen.

An enthralling day of Test cricket ensued at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru today, as Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli chipped away at the mountainous 356-run lead after skipper Rohit Sharma’s spirited fifty against New Zealand, ending Day 3 of the first Test 231/3 on Friday.

New Zealand were bundled out for 402 in their first innings early into the second session with centurion Rachin Ravindra and veteran pacer Tim Southee nothcing up a 134-run stand for the eighth wicket.

Resuming the day from 180 for three, New Zealand might have hoped to build considerably on the advantage but the spirited Indian bowlers, led by Ravindra Jadeja (3/72) took some early wickets to reduce them to 233 for seven, after which the onslaught followed from Ravindra.

Ravindra upped the tempo through a breezy century filled with eye-catching 13 fours and 4 sixes. The 21-year-old’s century was his second in Test cricket, having scored his maiden hundred against South Africa earlier this year.

Needing a strong start with the bat, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma delivered, playing confident drives and drawing up a fifty partnership at ease.

Then, it would be spinner Ajaz Patel, who would turn the tide around for NZ again, as he removed Jaiswal to break the stand.

But skipper Rohit continued to wreak havoc, going on the offensive as he walloped consecutive boundaries off Matt Henry to reach his 18th Test fifty.

Then, with Ajaz back in the attack with the ball, Rohit prodded forward and defended off the inner half, and right when he thought he’d played a solid forward defence, the ball ran off the face and bumped into the stumps as the Indian skipper was now forced to leave the crease after playing himself onto the stumps.

Having lost out on the momentum, it was now down to Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan to steer India to clear waters again. Steer they did, as the duo amped up the scoring, with the young Sarfaraz playing his natural attacking game and Kohli complementing the same with controlled aggresion of his own.

Both batters would notch fifties of their own, and would inherently also bring up a thrilling 100-run stand, as New Zealand were clutching at all straws to find a breakthrough again.

Finally, Kohli, who crossed a landmark 9000 Test runs with his innings today, was dismissed with the last ball of the day from spinner Glenn Phillips and stumps were called right after his dismissal.

This is the most entertaining team in the history of test cricket…Test cricket is alive only because of Indian team.
 
I will not rule out an Indian win in this Test.

India are 125 runs behind. Still some batting to come. I have faith in Jaddu and Ashwin to add valuable runs once again.

If NZ are given a target of 150-200 in the final innings, anything can happen.

If that happens then we need to remove Conway early and also rachin. Rachin is good value spin. Use pace vs him.
 
If they can play the whole day tomorrow, tall ask, I know, this would turn into an interesting test match.

Looks like an easy win for Nz though...

NZ will win it easily. I am rooting for NZ to win. They have not won a test in India for a very very long time.

Hopefully, rain stays away and not come to save India.
 
Hopefully there is no script written for this, NZ are in complete control to go 1 up

Even Indians should be allowed to wish for rain sometimes.

Otherwise, it would take a herculean task to pull even a draw.
