Pakistan defeated England by 75 runs at Lord's in their first appearance at the ground since the 2010 game which lead to the spot-fixing scandal. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored a hundred in what was his first appearance at the ground while Yasir Shah took a ten-wicket haul as England were bowled out for 207 chasing 283. Mohammad Amir took three wickets, including the very last one, on his return to the ground after the events of 2010. Wild celebrations followed with Pakistan doing pushups and salutes to pay tribute to the army camp that was held ahead of the England tour.

A brilliant day. Can remember being so nervous during that Bairstow and Woakes partnership. Than Yasir broke through Bairstows defence. Once that happened victory was in sight.

Also loved Misbah's century and Shafiqs batting in both innings. The game was test match cricket at its best. What a day for Pakistan cricket. Probably the most entertaining series under Misbah's leadership.

One of the best moment of the decade.A redemption story after what happened 6 years ago.

Yasir was sublime in that test. A dream performance by him.

The Test match in which Yasir Shah settled the debate between himself and Ashwin once and for all . . .

What a memorable day...

One of my best days as a Pakistan supporter. The ghost of 2010 was buried on that day.

Brilliant victory which was done on a complete team effort and at end of series they also got a well deserved draw.

Next Year Pakistan is touring England again for 2 Tests in May, conditions will be favoring Swing during early summer, however with Aamir in form, Pakistan should win the Test series in 2018 against England in England.

A memorable Test match with so many great performances. Yasir proved once again how much we depend on him to bowl us to victory whilst that match also saw one of Misbah and Shafiq's best Test innings.

Lets hope they give us Lords and oval as the 2 venues for the games again! :)

Didn't see the winning moment live but when I saw it in the highlights and Amir taking the last wicket and seeing him like this :amir3 got me teary eyed. Truly one to remember!

'All over Muhammad Amir!!......And Pakistan gives notice, THEY ARE A TEST TEAM!!'

What a win it was :salute

Wow! 2 Years already, I remember just the 1 year anniversary last year like it was yesterday, no idea how 2 years have passed already. I was at the game and it will forever live in my memory. I wasn't supposed to go but cos Pakistan were in a good position, we just got on the train when England lost their first couple of wickets. What an atmosphere it was. Stuck around after the game, got so close to Yasir Shah after the game, I think I even high fived him but security guys were being tight, was outside the ground after for a while juts enjoying the moment. Then went to some chicken shop in Kingsbury and ate some grilled chicken. I was supposed to go school the next day but I didn't bother as I had eye surgery just a few days before anyway.

Hopefully Indian posters can open a thread like this now for a drawn series as well.. on this day inexperienced Indian side drew a test series in England

Oh my Posters celebrating even the day every year of a drawn test series.

It led to the first and only number 1 ranking for Pakistan in Test cricket which is why it was celebrated later on. Please try to understand the context before copying my "my my".

What is #1 got to do with anything in test cricket, how long was Pakistan #1?
The reason it was big coz it was your only drawn series in England in a decade or something hence the celebration.
India won a damn series in Aus with 10 men… I can’t even remember the date just the year.

Also thank you for pointing out its your “my my”, because that’s what everyone associated that phrase with in PP, humble much.

So Pakistan becoming the number 1 Test team in the world and Misbah receiving the mace on the back of the 2-2 in England (and India not whitewashing WI) has nothing to do with Test cricket?

And yes it was for a short period of time, because had a very marginal lead over second placed India which they lost when they lost the third Test to WI in Sharjah few months later. However, you receive the mace for getting to the top, not for staying there for a certain amount of time. Is there any rule that you cannot celebrate a number 1 ranking unless you stay number 1 for X amount of time? Or do we need India's permission for it?

As an Indian, please don't tell us why Pakistani celebrated the series-levelling win at the Oval. Leave it to Pakistani fans, please. Just like we Pakistanis cannot really understand why India is doing bhangra over leveling the series at the Oval against 10 men.

Pakistan went into the England tour of 2016 with high expectations because it was strong, settled Pakistan that had the opportunity to compete really well. After Pakistan won at Lord's and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at Edgabston, Pakistan went into the third Test 2-1 down knowing that they could have easily been 2-1 up. There was a lot of hope that Pakistan would level the series at the Oval and there was this added excitement that if Pakistan win that Test and India doesn't whitewash WI, Pakistan will become the number one ranked Test team in the world. This is why it was celebrated more than it would have been otherwise.

Two years later, Pakistan returned to England again for a short, two match series this time and it finished 1-1 again, but this wasn't celebrated much because it didn't lead to anything greater, like a number 1 ranking. This series came when Pakistan were struggling in Tests and ranked around 5th/6th if I remember correctly.

Please don't try to troll as it doesn't suit you. You are decent, respectable poster and a valuable member of this forum. Don't be influenced by the rise of the bobble headed, 0 IQ Indian trolls recently who will be booted out of the forum and rightly so very soon.

The thread is about the match at Lords not the series overall isn't it.

The match was bookended by some big achievements. Misbah became the oldest man to be named on the honours board and for Amit and fans of Pakistan there was a moment of redemption when Amir took the final wicket to bring a wonderful victory home.

It was our first match back in England after those gloomy days. The last time we were in England our team was humiliated by Amir and co, articles were written about banning us from cricket, we missed two world class talents and Misbah and co were required to build our team and reputation again. To win at the home of cricket after returning to England felt like we had broken the shackles of that period.

Honestly it is one of my most joyous memories as a sports fan. If Indians are able to extract as much emotion from this series they are welcome to enjoy it too.

Naw that’s still Gabba and Kolkata 2001 for me this one is just to annoy fans that celebrate the test win but mock Indians for celebrating a similar win.

Sure @JaDed most welcome, 😁

But some differences
4-match series, 5-match series
One was A-tier side and one was B or C grade team
One were old babays visiting England and other young guns and IPL heroes

Yk Misbah Yasir were defn big Guns not old babays, so much so that PCT hasn’t been able to replace a single one in test cricket yet , been 9 years.

None of the current ICT cricketers are big compared to YK, Yasir Misbah of 2016 in tests.
At best Jadeja who was good with the bat only.
