What's new

Pakistan (352/4) defeat Australia (348/8) by 6 wickets to win the 2nd ODI - Series is tied at 1-1

Imam ul Haq vs Teams not named Zimbabwe as an opener

100 off 125 OUT vs SL
101 off 116 OUT vs SA
151 off 131 OUT vs ENG
100 off 100 OUT vs BAN
103 vs 96 OUT vs AUS
106 vs 97 OUT vs AUS

the outlier is England
you can see the pattern. Never carries

Lets be fair hes obviously got to go back to pavillion to cut his cakr.

The Imam hate is getting out of hand.

He has his issues, but he still is our 2nd best ODI batsman behind Babar, who is on a level of his own.

Imam played perfectly today, and other teams would win the game after such a start 9 out of 10 times.

Plastic fans need to calm down and not target the guys who actually score consistently, instead of those passengers who are playing as good as you and me.

Gosh. So much hate for Imam. Forget how he got selected in team. He isn't the only one who got in the team due to connections. It happens in every field of work.

But he has done exactly what an opener should've done in both match. You lost previous match because of remaining batsmen failing to take benefit of foundation he laid. And he has player brilliantly today as well.
Give credit where it's due.

The 1st game imam and babar let the game drift. 50 dot balls out of 118. something they didnt do today

That's more like it, now just target one boundary per over and keep dots to minimum, not much else required and don't be too greedy.

when Chasing 350

an opener getting 80 off 45 is better than an opener getting 100 off 100 in modern game. we need to stop being delusioned against C teams. this will not work in WC or big tournaments. why don't people understand this. this is why we never learn

They went into conserving wickets as Fakhar got out early something that didn't happen today ...shows how much faith Babar has on the rest of the batting line up

preferably look for the boundary early in over but pressure back on Aussies.

Even if you lose a early wicket you cant go defensive in current era of ODI games

This is so far closest to a kohli like chase from Babar ever in ODIs. Keep them coming boy. This is literally Kohli territory even though it's vs C grade attack but still baby steps.

Babar Azam you absolute beauty! Single-handedly taken control.

9 off 3 balls. pick up 3 singles now and job done for over.

Don't think we will lose this now. After an Imam-Babar disasterclass in the 1st ODI, this is an Imam-Babar masterclass. Sublime stuff.

A breath of fresh air
They just keep us surprising when we are at brink of giving up on this lot, this love hate relationship is unique with us Pak fans i guess, there is no middle ground. Only problem is these good days are too few and too far apart.

Fakhar and Imam are your openers. Fakhar aggressive and Imam good enough to secure one end and score run a ball or at SR of 85-90.
Your no. 3 should be capable of taking any of the two role depending on who gets out early.
That's where Kohli was too good in his prime. Someone who could play aggressive or play sensible inning of run a ball when needed. Babar needed to play aggressively in last match since Fakhar got out early.

Let's be honest, we all know Imam is not an aggressive batsman and he may never be. But he's still a good addition to your team considering other options available. He secured one end in both matches and kept Pakistan in the game. He did well in both matches.

However I know people will still criticize him. No matter how good he plays.

imam didnt show any aggression in 1st game until 31st over, he showed it straight away. Huge difference. you arent going to win games chasing 300+ with inns at sr 80 early on. he showed today he was willing to over the top in pp and go after spinners early. its about smart aggression shown today which was non existsant last game.

Rizwan should play his shots.. he is just rotating strike...

He is not good at no.4 in ODIs, he seems always confused how to bat at this position in ODIs..

only 5 runs from this over, not enough...While Babar slows down for his century, Rizwan should go for the shots.

Right you were chasing 413 and not 313.
Anyway, as I said in last line of my previous post.
Enjoy the game.

Babar is now, what Virat once was… Champion Bat!

Give him time, he will get there as a captain too.:shappy

It feels like Rob Key, Michael Kasprowicz, Michael Haysman are all bought out and on the payroll of PCB. Never once have they criticized Pakistan tactics on this tour. Babar's captaincy has been terrible from ball 1 of this your and Kasprowicz is praising Babar's leadership.

When comparing Babar with Kohlione has to remember Kohli always batted in very good batting teams, so had confidence of others carrying on wherehe would get out. Also often Indian openers gave good start. Today Babar had a good start and he shows his class.
