Seems like an easy chase and a good time for a few batsmen to show that they are still needed by Pakistan for the World Cup!

Target is 165.

Time for Fakhar to regain his form!

Hopefully a 10 wicket win!

This is the Pakistani team attitude the world loves and was at its peak in 90’s. Aggressive and where every individual is playing for the team and expressing his talent

This was Malik's first game (as makeshift Captain) - everything he touched turned gold, but need to see few more games, before drawing a conclusion. Two glaring difference is, he is calm, composed and he empowers bowlers (these are adults, you know, don't need to baby sit every ball). 2nd is that he was always looking for wickets and if track doesn't offer much, tried to crate a choke by restricting singles. The collapse started with Faf's wicket which was almost manufactured, otherwise a set Faf shouldn't have gone for that shot when 275 was on the cards. Today, SAF had only one partnership around 100 and this was the biggest difference - once PAK got one end open, made sure that new batsman doesn't get it easy. Against 4-5 attacking, wicket taking bowlers, if you can make new batsman choke, this sort of collapse can happen.

And, this should always be PAK's game - operate with 10 wickets, rather than 50 overs. Misbah, Azhar & Sarfraz allowed the game to drift away too many times - often one big partnership had beaten PAK. Calculative batting isn't teams strength, neither containment should be the tactics of the bowling unit. Core of PAK cricket is aggressive, attacking bowling.

Finally, I have to say team responded brilliantly to Malik, something PCB needs to notice. May be players are not saying/showing it open, but definitely there is a lack of trust/comfort between Sarfraz & team. Players looked happy today and relaxed. This is definitely not that good a side, but performed even worse than their level - today, they punched above weight; we have to wait a bit to know if it's one off or there is a genuine support (silent) for Malik as Captain.

Surely one match isn't enough to sing hymns of Malik's great captaincy.

The best thing is that he doesn't shout at the players. He makes tactical changes according to the situation.

why would inzi brigade want to get rid of Malik and then Younis too?

Seems everything going downhill for Sarfi.Rizwan looked miles better as a keeper than him

Didn't watch the first innings but by the few comments on here it seems that Malik did a good job as captain today.

My first POTW was on that, which I have forgotten most - try to find that one (Sometimes May 2011). YK has his own problem as well - but for both of them, first reason (I felt, which might not be taken well by most here) is that both comes from 2 smaller towns - it was too embarrassing for Karachi, Lahore & Pindi boys to be led by a Sialkoti or Pathan. For Malik's case, Dr. Nasim was equally naive - he appointed a young Captain, but didn't back him, rather made him vulnerable, and protective (which resulted into Malik creating own group to survive), and he was never good enough to lead that Test side on playing merit, which egoistic seniors knew.

Have to leave for Namaz.

Malik has always been a good captain and seems like someone who has good relationships with the players.

Perfect opportunity for Fakhar to find some form with a low target to chase.
Only drawback of a low chase is we were all looking forward to seeing how Rizwan gets on with his improved batting

Well put but with the last paragraph I disagree a bit, I think that this side has a lot of potential if lead and managed well. This match is just an indication of that. Yes they cant get the teams out to under 200 every time but I think it can easily compete with the top 3.

The other master stroke Malik can play is to play Rizwan 2 down and he makes a 50 odd not out to give the finishing touch. :yk2

Can’t believe this is going to be a no result due to rain.

South Africa very fortunate to take the series.

20 overs constitutes a game

Haha experience bro. Your day's gotta revolve around the game. Be mad productive throughoht the day, and wake up late the day before the game so that you can power through.

That's all. Rest is jazba. :afridi

lol this :))

Won't be surprised if Imam goes early today

He's becoming a bit arrogant and overconfident

do or die for fakhar today. If he fails today, surely shaan is getting in for next game.

who the hell approved of makhaya nitni being a commentator? he is horrible

Fakhar needs to take inspiration from how he batted in New Zealand. Perfect chance to find some form.

Ntini's a nice guy but wow, shouldn't be let into the commentary box.

who the hell approved of makhaya nitni being a commentator? he is horrible

Yes he is. We have had some really good new additions in Sanga, Clarke, Laxman but Ntini is surely cancelling them out

Fakhar is really shot in confidence. I wonder if he will ever recover. He has completely lost the plot. I say send him back to domestic for 6 months.

Lol scorecard already shows 1 down. Person handling it is biased

Itz safe to say that Fakhar has been found out. He needs to do something to that ball that cramps him up if we wants to continue his career.
