What's new

Pakistan end Day 3 on 153/3, needing 228 to win the 3rd Test against South Africa

Even in ODIs, we lose to the top teams 8 out of 10 times. This new generation have won only one ODI against top 8 teams in the last 12 months.

If we keep playing mediocre players that is what will happen. Recently, when seniors have stepped aside we have found the likes of Shadab, Hassan Ali, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman. All of whom have performed well for us. If the likes of Azhar, Asad, Hafeez and kaptaan are kicked out we'd find better replacement. I'm not saying worldclass but at least a team of good players who can fight and grow together.

In these conditions, losing by 7-8 wickets and 200+ runs is utterly embarrassing.

A series between South Africa and India, England, New Zealand and even Australia on these pitches will be much more competitive.

And we were told that this team has surpassed expectations. We have hardly won two sessions in succession.

This whitewash is much worse than the 2013. At least we pushed them to the limits in Cape Town.

Tbh we have been one big innings with bat away from victory on this tour.I am truly disappointed with some players like Azhar,Asad,Sarfi.Even Fakhar looked out of sorts.

So Aamir was bought in place of Hamza.. what a joke & then play unfit players like Abbas & Shadab on top of the deadwood we already have ..3-0 was always going to be a walk in the park for probably the weakest SA batting line up in recent memory, if only I was to run PCB for 1 day...

I am ripping into specialist captain but our bowling has not been good enough. If you can't get wickets at least keep it tight. We can't even do that. Serious questions need to be asked for the bowlers on this tour.

Abbas is unfit - I haven't seen a single ball of BPL so far, but I can say JK is fitter than Abbas; so your CS can give better explanation. Amir has bowled exceptionally - so fay 36 overs at 2.7 in J'burg out-field and has taken 4 wickets. Fahim has exceeded expectation and only Hasan is disappointing, but apart from one fan here, don't think anyone expected him to do well on bouncy, fast tracks for his bowling style & his height. Left is Shadab, who is there for his batting - still statistically has done better than Yasir with ball & at per with Yasir with bat :).

The game was screwed for 185 - the earlier you realize it better, otherwise your CS'll drop Amir & Abbas to fix bowling.

Both Shadab and Hasan have tailed off and Fakhar is getting exposed. They are pretty much mediocre players how, and one Babar is not enough to redeem things.

We talk about mediocre players, but the next generation players are mediocre as well. Young players doing well initially and then getting exposed has been a common theme for years.

I really don’t think there is any combination of XI players in the country that can take us to the top 3 in Tests and ODIs.

Rabada and Steyn should just attack now as there's no need to play out time blocking as they are in the driving seat. With over 40 overs still remaining in the day, it's anyone's guess as to what that could mean.

Bobby Azam has a chance to be the top scorer of the series. Make it big, Bobby!

New ball due . Hope this ends soon .Predict how many will visitors score ? I think 270 . 302/9

418 I think.
Pakistan scored 450 when the target was 490 against Australia 2016. Shafiq scored a ton
Okay done deal. Easy win, just need a big partnership and a couple big scores from batsmen. Wicket is not too bad.

Shadab gets Kok - this should have been the tactics after lunch straight way & I can't blame Sarfraz here after a break. He & his Coach had 40 minutes to discuss ...... and they opened with Abbas!!!!!

Fakhar scored 88(88) and 65(77) in his last 2 ODIs against pretty much full strength NZ attack.

SIR Mamoon What can be expected of the ODI and T20 SERIES. Your prediction plz, coz u have been spot on with ur predictions. And also I want to know what are the factors that makes you so spot on with your predictions.

Sarfaraz is tactically poor & Coach none too impressive .

Has anyone noticed one BEAUTIFUL thing of SAF cricket? Styen is fit and no way Rabada is a better batsman than him - but KR is the future & they have promoted him ahead of Styen in order.

Rabada 'is' a better batsman than Steyn. It's not 2013 anymore.

For 1st part, you are too generous. For 2nd part, Coach is not unimpressive, he is horrible to operate with spinners. I said many times - Arthur will be my last pick to manage BD team with 3-4 spinners in it.

Yes batting is the issue but the bowlers should be able to keep things tight if they aren't picking wickets up.

He is not. Not only Styen is more experienced, his stats are better in Test & FC and he has 2 fifties in Test, Rabada's highest is 34 after 30 odd Tests.

10th catch for Sarfraz, along with a 50. Done well enough to keep his spot as specialist WK - hopefully now he'll step down from Test Captaincy (preferably from ODI as well).

Shady has been class apart whenever he bowled. Needs to be a permanent fixture as #6 in this Pakistan team.

MMHS pick of the bowler was Aamir for pak and Shahin upto some extent. HasaanAli should only focus on LOI.

Rameez saying Pak should have played both Yasir and Shadab here ... for something different. :))):)))

Playing 2 spinners on this pitch, only Rambo can come up with such gems.

Alright tell me who is a better batsman currently? MSD or Shai Hope ?

Wrong example - comparing top order with current form. Check Hope's last 12 innings & Ms's last 12 innings - then do the same for Rabada/Styen - if it makes sense to alter the batting order, come back, I'll accept.

Firstly, I have been wrong more times than I have been correct and people here frequently humiliate me for it.

However, I have been successful in predicting the performance of the team over a certain period.

For example, I can say with full confidence that this team will lose 8 out of 10 matches against the top teams, but when will those two wins happen is something that I obviously cannot predict.

It is no rocket science - if you look at the quality of the players and the quality that is coming through, it is easy to see why we are a mediocre team and will remain so.

People here are too emotional and too patriotic. They fail to look at the bigger picture, forget all the problems after one win and confuse their wishes with reality.

I think we will lose the ODI series 4-1 and the T20 series 2-1.

And Tests in UAE - his reverse swing will be effective there. This was always the case for me, even for ODI, when countless time I wrote that he should specialize as the death bowler in ODI, but somehow popular belief is that 5'7 Hasan Ali with an unconventional seem position and a slingy action is "unreal" prospect for new ball .......

South Africa is not thinking team... Why risk injury to players, just pick four random bowlers from the crowd and this rubbish team will not cross 100.

A lot of criticism going on for Junaid being dropped MMHS.

I won't have picked him for SAF ODI, but the reason given was a bit "Monafequi" by the pious man. CS with such profile as player should have the guts to say things straight & boldly - there were several reasons to give, explaining why JK wasn't picked - this sort of shallowness wasn't required. Yesterday JK was trusted for a Super Over in BPL, so I guess he has regained his full fitness in 2 days after landing in BD.

SA could pick any 6ft plus bowler from their domestic circuit and its guarantee they would flatten pak

Who you is think is capable of captaining from this mediocre lot?

That really should have been a 3. Poor running. Little things like this can make a difference

Who you is think is capable of captaining from this mediocre lot?

That's a deflecting question - just like in BD Politics, Awamileaguers are trying to cover up for the rigging of mankind's history of voting - who is better than Sheikh Hasina?

I ask you an equally ackward question then - why Misbah was cursed for 5 years as ODI Captain then?

Simply by looking at them it appears Shadab is a better bowler on bouncing tracks than Yasir. Yasir bowls far too flat to be effective on these sort of surfaces. Someone like Usama Mir might have done well or another leg spinner who bowls with more loop.

Is he using belly pad or has started to go uncle's route - he is U25, can't have such nice belly.

My thinking is that changing of captain won't do anything. The problem is much deeper.
