What's new

Pakistan reach 17/2 at Stumps on Day 1 and trail South Africa by 245 runs in the 3rd Test

Poor stuff from pakistan....how quickly their batsmen have have reached into 30 and 40s.

Hassan Ali is going great just 28 short of his 1st century in difficult pitches of SA. Also, he is playing pretty quick with SR of 100 . :vk2:rabada2
I think it's his best performance after making a mockery in Wagha border.:rabada

Embarrassing performance. Mickey Arthur's tenure has taken an absolute nose-dive over the past 6 months.

One good thing is despite 100+ runs in both session, PAK’s over rate is great - players won’t loose match fee😜. Bad thing is Sarfraz will still be eligible for next Test ...... to lead from back.

Looks like Kallis and Smith are playing... and not de Bruyn and Hamza....two rookies mercilessly trolling Pakistan T20 superstars

Sarfaraz's surely playing his last test. Unless Pakistan beats India in the World Cup or reaches the semi-finals.

Pak bowlers are being thrashed mercilessly. It proves they even if Pakistan did bowl in the first innings of previous two tests, the result would have been same.

I just can't match this Pakistan side to what I am used to and grew up seeing. Pakistan cricket is finished.

Nothing is constant which is the beauty of the nature. People were saying it even before CT17.

Yes team is struggling but struggles are bcz of controllable factors. If you are producing 18,19 year old test cricketers, that means players are being produced. Its the mismanagement and poor captaincy. When things are controllable things can change fast.

Sarfraz bakhts to distribute mithai if Shafiq gets a fluke wicket here. It will be a “tactical masterstroke”.

He has already proven his tactical nuances by extracting 2 wickets from no. 4 & 5 bowlers. He is a selfless soul - giving Hasan a chance to redeem himself; hence Hasan has been given 12 overs, only 2nd to Abbas.

This series has quickly dispelled the myth that Pakistan's bowling attack is one of the world's best.

At best it is languishing at 6th spot. At par with West Indies.

I am truly shocked at how low Pakistan cricket has fallen and the heights Indian cricket is reaching.

I think he will be relieved of his misery soon. Right up there (or perhaps down there) with some of the worst Test captains in Pakistan history.

Pakistan should've invested in Mohammad Asif rather than Amir. Someone who knew how to use the new ball.

Why always India. PCT should perform well against every team. I think making ind-pak match a litmus test is not good for Pakistan because a single good performance against India give them free ride for 2-3 years.
No matter how bad PCT perform but they always sing the melody of one odd performance against India.

In terms of bowling speed, West Indies is way ahead as well.

This was bat first wicket by far, unlucky to miss out on that...

Regardless out bowling is appalling, death of fast bowling as we know it

Would be a miracle if he retains test captaincy and if the ODIs dont go well PCB might think to swallow a tough pill to replace the captain before the WC.

He would have forgotten that after playing entire career in UAE dross. I am a great admirer of Asif, but he was damn lucky that he never had to spit on those tracks, a curse for cricket. For a check, you can see Asif’s domestic records - it’s poor compared to contemporary standard, because guy was a cunning artist with new ball; UAE needs darters & reverse swingers.

Shadab Khan reminds me of Sachin. Bowls some good unplayable regards but with a lot of short pitched tripe in between.

It just shows how some poor decisions from the top management can come back to haunt you. Recalling Azhar and making him ODI captain in 2015 is just one example.

Under sarfraz we have lost home series to a poor Sri Lanka side and to New Zealand and have also lost a test match against a pathetic windies and about to be whitewashed by SA.

PCB won’t sack him fearing the backlash. He might step down himself - that’ll protect his ODI Captaincy at the cost of a WC. Today’s 2 session should give a clue of what Sarfraz’s tactis going to do in WC, where at least 35-38 overs needs to be bowled by pacers.

I dont think theres anything more embarrassing to Pakistan than the state of cricket right now. A country of 180 million people with such rich cricketing history - all who follow 1 sport predominantly - and this is the best XI we can put forward.

Unbelievable. I can't believe cricket in Pakistan has been allowed to plunge to these depths.

Pakistan bowling is rubbish of highest order, no pace, control or swing, worse of the worse. There was one thing we used to wake up in middle of night watch (our bowling), in last 10 years or so that is also gone... There is absolutely nothing to looking forward to in Cricket Pakistan...Cricket is dead, absolutely dead, Rest in piece!!! - More than series loss this is far more disappointing...

🤬🤬🤬

Wow this is some phainta so far. The day is not even over and already over 200 runs have been scored. Pakistan were lucky to get 2 wickers too, markram especially. Remains to be seen if they can still.keep it respectable. The highveld is not a place where runs are easily protected though I suppose with the inexperience in safs batting pakistan will.hope they lose concentration against the pies being chucked at them and collapse for something like 400. Could get very ugly otherwise.

When will the Saffers declare? If they declare on time the game could be over in 3 days.

Sarfraz and our pacers are already thinking about life after declaration.

Misbah was captain against WIN.

But, most unacceptable, shocking performance was to allow this Australia save a Test batting 140 overs in UAE - then & then he deserved a sacking. NZ one was known, at least to me - Sarfraz’s team won’t compete with Williamson’s NZ after losing toss in UAE. It would have been worthy watching had Australia won both tosses in UAE.

The worst thing to come out of this is if the administrators believe what you are saying in this post and brush everything else aside. This eleven is capable of more, but is performing at an alarming awful level here. Lack of fitness, weak mental strength, zero preparation for this tour are very important aspects of what went wrong.

Pakistan should have put up more of a fight here. We just went downhill from the first Test.

Asif is atleast 3 notches higher than Abbas and if Abbas could take 17-18 wickets in a series, Asif wouldn't have struggled a bit. Anyways, you don't need Asif in the UAE as spinners win you games there. Asif would've been exceptional in the first two tests here. Amir has always been overrated. Even when he was playing in 2010. He only had 1 freakish summer in England and everyone thought he was Wasim Akram. It was just his purple patch. Even Hasan Ali has had a purple patch but doesn't mean he is good.

It just shows how some poor decisions from the top management can come back to haunt you. Recalling Azhar and making him ODI captain in 2015 is just one example.

Bigger blunder was to make an over aged, unfit, over weight WK Captain for 3 formats, when he isn’t good at his core job, neither good enough batsman to make the XI on batting merit (so that he can play as specialist batsman & someone else keeps). Not to consider the filthy mouth, which is definitely taking it's toll now for those who can see.

Amir once mentioned he doesn't prioritise test cricket and it shows. I don't think he should be the spearhead of their test attack. I bet once the psl begins or he has to bowl only a limited quota both the pace and the intensity will be back up. Disappointing but it is what it is, the 8-3 kind of spell which even indians were smitten by is more a once in a blue moon thing now.

People are over reacting
It has been just 2 sessions
And this team has already performed better than the one toured in 2013

I used to believe that too brother but these cricketers aren't even showing glimpses of talent anymore.

They lost at home to NZL of all teams 2-1 the series before this. This is a problem that isn't so much about tactics or team selection. We can keep pretending that Inzamam and the team management is clueless or corrupt but the fact of the matter is that the talent pool and more importantly, domestic structure and coaching infrastructure simply isn't there anymore. This is a problem at the level of the PCB and until the cricketing community of Pakistan realises this, it will not move forward.

Mayank Agarwal was able to help his side win a test series in Australia literally after getting off a flight and making his debut on Boxing Day. When Ravi Ashwin got injured India had Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja waiting in the wings to replace him. When MS Dhoni retired on the last tour of Australia, Rishabh Pant entered as an equal/if not better replacement. On the other hand, Pakistan has not a single batsmen in line to replace Haris Sohail and still can't find quality replacements for guys like Hafeez and Malik, who wouldn't get a shoe-in anywhere else in the world.

Most umpires won’t give that out. It was a good decision.

Sarfraz has to stop bickering with umpires as it could come back to haunt them. 3 more innings to go besides this.

Good start after tea by pakistan. Made the ball talk. The pitch being flat was exacerbated by the fact that they bowled a long hop an over.

I think the weaker teams suffer more from umpires call.

More so I think the hosts get BoD. This issue only can be solved if they can take DRS out of players - let umpire take his call & if required, he’ll review it with 3rd umpire.

Most umpires won’t give that out. It was a good decision.

Above knee roll, batsman trying to leg glance will introduce lot of doubt. He got that right. In real time most of these things will look out with bat, pad everything together.

Think back to Cape Town and how quick Joel was to give Imam and Sarfraz out.

Garbage umpiring.

Even after collapse 400 is match winning score unless opposition has Hayden,Gilchrist,Ponting and Langer

How the hell you miss such balls by such a long distance lol Damn de bruyn haha. It was fairly a straight ball.
