Pakistan reach Stumps on Day 4 at 73/0, need another 278 to win the 3rd Test against Australia

hmmmmm I am not being FUNNY but this is chasable on this track....
Even if they do tuk tuk today there is a chance its all about mentality...
I think surviving should be the first aim then we shall see but a very bold declaration
 
Wonder what Pakistan's dressing room is talking about. If roles were reversed Australia would surely be looking at this total as a chasable one

350 to win... pakistan isnt attacking enough to win this but its certainly achievable in 120 overs...

Need big innings from openers. Unlikely from Parchi Ul Haq but both openers need to score along with Babar and Rizwan. Fawad Alam is a lost cause and Azhar Ali is hit or miss but we need his tuk tuk this innings...
 
Not sure it was the right decision to declare now. Another 11 overs and 50 runs and Cummins could have eliminated any chance of a Pakistan win.
 
Pakistan will go for the win at any given time for approximately 20 runs, before a wicket will fall and the blockathon will begin. This will likely be tomorrow morning.

3 runs per over is like asking Pakistan to bat at 7 runs per over from the word go in ODI cricket.

Maybe 2 runs per over and they would fancy it

Very good bowling by naseem shah.

Only two positives from pakistan in the series , shafiq and naseem shah.

The overall approach by pakistan in the series was negative , poor pitches curated and the captaincy eas very very negative.

Pakistan need someone who can start innings well at number 3 , not someone who scores his first 50 st 30 SR.


Both the spinners are predictable and rathar one dimensional. Hassan ali had a wonderful 2021 in test cricket but playing way too many t20s without much success hurt his confidence and rythm.

This match is gone but pakistan needs to change their mindset even if they lose some matches in the process.
 
I hope these guys don't think they can block out the rest of the day, will only end in disaster. You're there for 30 overs, score some runs while you're there, that's literally the purpose of batting.

Series-decider, the target (in terms of run rate) is achievable, no excuse to block out 120 overs for another draw.
 
Pakistan should try to chase this target. What a victory that would be. I could be equivalent to India's 2001 like moment against Australia.
 
Lets face it, had it not been for Australia's declarations this would have been the most senseless series ever attempted.
 
As far as overs left are concerned. If Pak bat through at around 2.8 per over then they win. Aus have put Pakistan in a position as to which they have to go for the fun in return making this test match exciting. Gota give it to aussies for taking the risk and leaving Pak in a position in which they can win aswell.

Pakistan need to learn frm their 1st innings mistakes . Play positively. Put pressure on Aus by scoring runs and not getting bogged down.
 
Amazes me the contrast of Both teams batting. Aus Playimg at 3.6 plus losing on 3 wkts and Pak On the same pitch batting as if it's a day 5 pitch with the bowl seeming and spinning like mad. I Can only think of it as Aussie bowlers Class above Pakistans and Pakistan batsmen negative mindset

He doesn't want to shut the door on Pakistan.

He wants to keep them interested and not to look to just survive....as the Aussies found it hard to dismiss them in Karachi when they were in pure survival mode
 
sorry to say but Abdullah Shafiq is another Sami Aslam, he is too slow even for tests, such defensive batting won't take player and team far.
 
Oh wow Australia have actually dangled the carrot here.

Sadly based on the evidence so far in this series, Pakistan will try securing a draw instead of going for the win.

Definitely has more shots than Sami Aslam.

He has been excellent in this series and I feel his SR will improve going forward as he isn't a limited player like Azhar, Sami.
 
Excellent declaration by Australia.No team would have dared to declare with that much time left in the match.
 
Abdullah looks very solid but he is tailor made for low bouncy tracks

Technically he is one of the better pak batters I have seen but do think he would struggle with bouncy tracks

If Cummins thinks Pakistan is interested he is the most deluded man on earth.

Pakistan has zero interest in chasing this total - they gave up on winning this match as soon as Pakistan conceded a hefty first innings lead.
 
Australia have scored at around 3 or more runs an over the whole series, while Pakistan have consistently struggled to even hit 2.5

If the roles were reversed Australia would probably have no trouble chasing this 350 down in 120 overs.

Abdullah Shafique’s timid batting and negative body-language is reminiscent of Asad Shafiq.

He is another Azhar Ali/Asad Shafiq in the making - watching him score 5,000/6,000 pointless runs at a turtle pace and never make any impact on the game or on the opposition.

This is not a terrible pitch to bat on, the only real threat is reversing later in the innings
 
Pat Cummins has dangled the Carrot but Pakistan is in ultra defensive mode they won't go for the win and they will do the tuk tuking of highest level for overs then they will get out just like first innings.

We let the Aussies settle into a nice rhythm yesterday evening with the defensive approach. I rather lose going for the win than another timid aproach trying to bat out the overs.

Cummins wants Pakistan to be interested as he fancies that would be his best chance of getting them out.....now it's up to Pakistani batsmen to decide how to approach this.

Even if a wicket doesn't fall today, and Pakistan reach 50+ it's not going to jitter any nerves in the Australia camp. Even if we're 130/0 at lunch tomorrow, it'll still be Australia's game to lose.

The 3rd Pakistan collapse of the series will happen tomorrow. All Australia need is a 30-40 magic spell by either Lyon or the quicks to dismantle our entire team.

Aus returning the hospitality, I always felt it was on the cards, they would be more confident.
 
Cummins has been too proactive and aggressive in looking for wins this series. These declarations are useless . You cant really force a result and it is better to rule out a loss first and then hope for some luck .
 
Pakistan are going all right here they are picking up the run rate
 
Now that will be more insulting the way Pakistan are batting Aus played freely and aggressively Pakistan should up the ante everyone knows they can't chase it so what's the point

If Pakistan cant score 350 in 4 sessions on their home ground on a flatbed pitch, they should give up playing cricket.

Cummins has offered a bone.

They should snatch it.
