What makes me sad is that we were 197 for 3 to be all out 239
Now that you put it that way, it reminds me of the second test in Srlinaka. We are lucky that this time lead is 404 and not like 180ish as it was against Srilanka.

Pakistan have given newzealand a slight sniff here they might not win this easily but you never know its cricket

We shall see...the pitch has flattened out pretty good now...

If anything, they will get really close as in 365ish where everyone will be shitting bricks.

But I don't see them crossing 400.

I haven't watched today's play to observe the pitch.

NZ has made 451 against eng in 2nd innings...so pak must be careful..however that NZ team had different players.

404 is not gettable by the NZ batting order - it aint happening kust because NZ comms may want it to happen !

I take Asif and Aamer and Kaneria to reduce them to bowl them out for less than 250

99 in first innings and they think they can score 400? You must be joking!

I would have felt better if the lead was around 300. We seem to do much better when we are under pressure. Now the lead is bigger so we may just drop some catches, bowl badly etc. We become complacent when the match is the grasp. Hope our bowlers and fielders deliver, and prove me completely wrong.

the way our batting collapsed has left a bad taste in the mouth.......and all those who are saying that we are still in a good position to win the game, it's not about the end result of this game, its about the fact that this batting performance will result in 99 losses out of hundred......here we are comfortably cushioned by a 160 run 1st innings lead.....

even despite umar akmal's fifty the guy looked as if he was in a hurry to get back to the pavilion.....needless shot to get out.....perfect opportunity to score a hundred on an excellent batting pitch wasted!!!

But the bowlers got lucky in the first innings!

unless the pitch from India v. SL test was transported over night to Wellington there is no way NZ will come even 100 within the target required

Lucky? errr not quite

Anyhow 404 is a huge ask for New Zealand to get - not sure why some people are worried. As long as we pick up wickets at regular intervals we should be okay

Is it really an excellent batting pitch? Where are people getting this.

We bowled with skill and accuracy - we will do it again

much better than 70/4 then all out on 99

is that our benchmark then???.....do slightly better than a poor batting performance from a team ranked 7th in the world???

haha a team that made 99 is now feeling confident chasing 400, what is vettori smoking, i want some of that

If it was any other team I would agree with you, but here you are dealing with Pakistan team. Remember the debacle in Sri Lanka. But then again I have to think positive

the bounce was pretty even, there was no turn whatsoever, the ball wasn't swinging miles......most batsmen got out to poor shots playing inside the line of the ball...for me that qualifies as a good batting pitch......unless some people only class 700 run indian pitches as good

My knowledge of cricket isn't as good as some people on here (I'm relatively new to watching cricket), but couldn't we just use malik's and misbah's slot to test out new talent. Surely NZ is a great place to do this (whereas in australia it will be difficult as australia's much harder opposition and hence more pressure on batsmen). Misbah is nearing the end of his cricketing career anyway and malik is out of form. We don't really rely on these two that much to come good for us anyway.

Plus is misbah that good a slip fielder to warrant a place in the team (as I don't think he's in particularly good form with the bat at the moment). Surely some of these youngsters can do the same job?

Apparently surviving first over from Aamer is an achievement in NZ eyes!

There's no way the Hobbits can overhaul this. About 150 runs too much I reckon.

NEW ZEALAND ONLY NEED 1.7 RUNS EVERY OVER TO WIN THE MATCH.. They have so much time.

Second over wicket....Asif gets his man

Whats the target again?
