I don't care about how good his English is. He's the best commentator from this lot.
No doubt about that. People say 2020 is killing test cricket? It's NZ commentary imo

Nice shot by Misbah. Got on top of the ball and played it down behind square. 100 up, lead inflates to 268.

What score do you guys think they should set for NZ?

Asalaam alikum wr wb

Well ..from what i have been hearing and have just read kiwi bowler ian o'brien's blog on cricinfo it appears as if this wicket at basin reserve may become slightly better to bat on. Keeping that in mind it is vital pakistan set kiwis target of atleast 450. That means in their second innings they need to score 285. If misbah and malik fail in second innings it should definetely be curtains for them as far is their test careers are concerned. I am amazed that more worthy, capable batsmen like hasan raza and asim kamal who are actual test material in terms of technique and mental strength are continuosly ignored. The idiot selectors keep opportunities to proven failures like farhat, malik and misbah yet ignore asim kamal and hasan raza, amazing just amazing. Nepotism at it's best !

It's high time mohammed yousaf perform with the bat as he has failed to do so in the past three innings in the series to date. Failure by the pakistani batsmen to set desired target of atleast 400-450 could be upsetting our chances to break the jinx of having not won a test match since 2006.

This is ridiculous. THey're up by 255! Stop playing for your averages

What the heck do you mean? There are 2 and a half days left. We can't get too aggressive right now.

This test match has shades of the Karachi test. We struggle and collapse in first innings, rescued by Kamran Akmal. Asif destroys opposition in their 1st innings, and then we post a huge total in our 2nd innings! :P

What Aus/Eng/S.A. play is REAL cricket. We just try and imitate it.

I don't even think we are playing to the situation.
Then maybe you are following the wrong team.

ZzZZzZZzzZZ

This partnership putting me to sleep.

That the best reponse you could come up with?

Don't even compare us to proper test sides. We hardly have any test batsmen, hence why we aren't taking the iniative and hence why we haven't won a match for 3 years. Care to disagree?

Play the ball on merit. That means atleast 3 an over. We are blocking everything and there is no iniative.

P.S. Apparently there is rain forecast aswell.

kashif me aswell finally i can stay a wake than thiose boring stuff comes

How many matches have we played in 3 years? It's very easy to look at other teams and say they are better than us but we have the players to beat those teams. As far as the batting is concerned, we always had those issues and it's our bowling that has won those games for us.

At least give them one session to get their feet wet. If these 2 take the "initiative" and get out we'll be looking at another collapse. There are only the Akmal brothers after these two.

These two really digging in here, inching the lead to 300. Laughable criticism aimed at them, far too much limited overs cricket being the main culprit.

I don't think scoring at 3 an over is that drastic that it will lead to a wicket loss. The pitch is as flat as anything. The N.Z.commentators have been droolong over this pitch the whole day thus far.

Pakistan is absolutely doing the right thing here. They are not completely in control of this match just yet. Collapses have become a routine for Pakistan so its good approach to solidfy the platform and then launch at the end with Young Akmals. Not to forget they have 98 overs to play today. Besides it's good for these two to spend some time in the middle and get back into some sort of batting form. Keep ticking away boyz. :14:

Haris...not so quick hold your horses ! I would agree partially, the part i disagree is when you said " We post huge total in second innings "...you have got to remember pakistan is playing on a wicket which has good pace, bounce and some movement unlike subcontinental wickets. The wicket at karachi in 2006 against india only had lively condition for upto day 2 after that it reverted back to it's true nature and that is a true batting wicket. That's why people like farhat and butt scored half centuries but here in new zealand on a lively excellent sporting wicket scoring big is very uncharacteristic of pakistani and most asian batsmen. I hope and it is my utmost sincere dua ( supplication) that we score well but realistically that means scoring close to 300 is MEANs scoring well for our batsmen. Ony real hope of success i expect is from akmal brothers and possibly yousaf. Misbah and malik are a finished case as far as i believe. Misbah and malik will be batting for their test careers in this second innings.

Current score: 113/ 2....

Yousaf must sort out his weakness against left arm spinners...it's high time !

We are at the level of N.Z., W.I. in the rankings.

The rest are a league above. And actually our bowling is what has us up here. Our batsmen haven't contributed jack.

You call this a flat pitch? There's bounce, pace, and carry in this pitch. Didn't see the Tuffey delivery that flew over the keeper, or the one that reared up at Yousuf, or the O'brien one that hit Yousuf in the chest?

Plenty in this wicket, a quality bowler will get the most out of it.

I agree but we'll only get better by playing.

I think this is as flat as it comes abroad. there is no swing and no seam. And as the commentator said;'the bounce is true'. This certainly is no day 1/2 pitch, hence why Martin Crowe is confident of 400.

the pitch is flat cause NZ are bowling crap

Scoring should not be an issue, i am watching the match live on zee cinema and it looks like a fine wicket to bat and ball on, no real demons in it. Nice and bright out there in basin reserve, wellington . I agree they must bat at atleast 3 an over at best. I must say chris martin is bowling really well and looks quicker than he's been clocked at.

Score: 120/2

Yousaf: 32*
Misbah: 30*

Lead By: 284 runs

in 2006 we reached 2nd in the test rankings, but we slid down the rankings for many reasons but by playing more test cricket and less off the field troubles last few years have been extreme even by pak standards, we can get back up their . The teams above us are good sides but their is not 1 certain outstanding team anymore like the past austrlian and west indain sides, we just have a bunch of good sides now at similar levels.

Well it's a sunny day and we're into the 48th over. hence the lack of swing. Seam is always available, depends how often you hit it. Luckily we have Asif who hits the seam as often as anyone I've seen. Pace and reverse with Aamer and Gul, and a decent leggie too. I'm quite sure we'll make full use of this surface. In the meantime it's imperative we pile on the runs, plenty of time left.

Swing depends on the conditions aswell. Cloudy, windy overcast and it wouldn't be as easy.

Seam depends on wicket also. You hardly get any seam on a dead flat wicket. Hence the concept of a 'seaming' pitch. This pitch has definitely flattened out.

Yes, I know there are 2.5 days left, but no one plays cricket like this anymore. IF we're gonna keep up with Aus, we have to learn to play like the others.

Commentator says that these two have left the ball well. Yousuf is world class. But to hear that Misbah has left the ball well: Wow, I can't believe my ears.

my zee cinema is playin a little funny at the moment! A service loss error keeps propping up! Anyone else having this problem?

RR needs to be picked up - Hopefully after lunch I suppose there'll be more purpose behind the batting!

cricinfo still reporting .. i guess they actually have someone on the ground

Yep they're having these problems from NZ. I've just switched over to the AUS-WI match for a bit!
