It's a great shame how Misbah has traeted poor Haris. I just hope one day he opens his voice in the media for unfair treatment he got served by Misbah.

He is in no mood to close that gap between his bat and pad any time soon.Poor stuff.
Well Supported him earlier but now forced to give up on him.Not int'l material as of yet.Bring in some other deserving lad.

Good to see pakistan has won the toss, Now if Pak scores 400+ then series is ours.

I'm actually bewildered how he even averages 34 in Pakistan. On turning pitches against better spinners, I have said this time and time again that he is the worst player that has represented Pakistan after Awais Zia

This time he can't even afford to make excuses.Sodhi's bowl was something to be praised last time around but this was a nothing delivery.
He made it look as if he intentionally made that gap to let the ball pass through.
 
Good 1st session for us, we need to bat solidly for rest of the day and Hafeez and AA need to score big now they have got in and are well set, hopefully we can put up a big 1st inns score and then apply scoreboard pressure on kiwis.
 
Haris should have been picked to open once we knew Shehzad was out for 2 tests. That way he would have got a solid run. I think it would have done him a world of good. I agree with the management not to disturb the settled middle-order for the time being. Once Misbah retires, I think Shafiq will move up to no. 5 and we can have Haris at no. 6. Azhar Ali will stay at no. 3 until we find someone solid enough for no. 3 in which case he can open or until YK retires in which case he might move to no. 4.

YK should not be moved from no. 4 because that is where you want your best batsman to bat in test cricket, away from the new ball but early enough so as not having to bat with the tail so that they can get big hundreds.

Playing eleven is picked by Tour management committee (Coach , Manager and Captain). I think they will play him in ODI series.
 
Hafeez looks a million dollars when he's on song. I'd really like him in the middle order, when the ball isn't moving around much. It won't happen though.

Yes, that middle order would become monster strong if only Hafeez bats in the Middle order and Azhar opens. This is such a simple solution that I pull my hair whenever I think about it and its :facepalm: worthy our management can't see this :( utter sadness.
 
What if it was a strategy by Misbah to get done with Masood once and for all. SO he is not back in the reckoning and haris gets a bunch of games to prove himself? :D

Hafeez is an attacking batsman and should look to attack. He struggles when he tries to play a proper Test knock.

This is why he has done well in this series.
 
Lovely from Hafeez.Needs to carry on the same way.really suits him.

Situation perfect for him to get to that double ton:).
 
I hope this is a new start for Hafeez and he wont become useless in nonasian countries against non minnow teams.

That is a sweet bat Hafeez is using. The ball just flies when he middles it. That pull shot and this lofted straight six.
 
Good positive start after lunch by our batsmen, runs are flowing and we just need to make sure that continues without gifting any wickets
 
If Hafeez bats at 4 this world cup, we've got a lot sorted. He's fine with extra bounce, he just struggles against the swing.

Won't happen of course.
 
AA needs to keep rotating the strike and not go into his shell at any point as that usually causes problems.
 
Southee and Boult will be used in short sharp spells so we need to see both of them off and hopefully ball wont reverse swing to much during inns.
 
Dot balls been eat up now, why not just try and work ball around for singles!
 
A strike rate of 40 is fine as long as you play a long innings and make it count IMO. Azhar needs to score a big daddy hundred here and wear out NZ.
 
9 runs from last 35 balls faced, AA has gone into sleep mode as per usual and am sure he will play usual stupid shot and throw it away at some point.
 
They have not dropped Rahat Ali in a single match. His inclusion is more baffling to me than Shan Masood.
He ddoesnt get wickets, he just gets lucky once in every 5 innings.
 
on this joke of a track , azhar should score more freely. There is absolutely nothing in the pitch.

Yes, you are right. Once in a while fine, but in every innings shows your lack confidence and shows limitations of stroke play. Unless it is an extremely bowling friendly pitch, I do not like this style not for first down batsman.
 
The lack of rotation from AA just adds pressure to both batsmen and also allows bowlers to settle into good bowling rythme, its pathetic that AA struggles on the basics like this
 
As expected AA throws it away after getting bogged down!

Craig got two wickets! That is unbelievable! Younis should show him his place.
Younis did get out to him in the last game though
 
Hafeez is batting with the legend now. Isn't this a rare event? Hafeez normally doesn't last this long.
