He is a wonderful shot maker and I really hope he doesn't throw it away today like he always does. He is much better than what his stats suggest.

Liton averages 48 plus in first class cricket including 31 test innings where he averages only 24. If u deduct his test record from first class, Liton's average will go up to 53 plus. Another Graham Hick in progress?

Yup, going at 4+ RPO at home against BD.

Lol, I am not a big Yasir Shah fan, but this is first day on a good pitch. If he went for 4+ on spinning tiring wicket on day 4, that would have been total rubbish!

Is there no reverse swing? Should wrap up the tail quickly here.

BD needs a good batting coach, they severely lack the grit and patience. They need some epic verbal phaintas from a good mentor. Tamim, Mominul, Mahmudullah, Liton, Soumya are all good bats and are capable of doing more than those pretty 20s and 30s.

Mithun is good against spin and Azhar continuing with part timers like Yasir and Haris lol.

Azhar Ali is bonga kaptaan why haris sohail? his job was to break the partnership

Temperament is lacking severely. It is the first class where you learn it. The quality of FC cricket is poor and u see the reflection in tests.

This should be the last chance for Mithun. Was averaging 19 only prior to this test

People are supporting team for last 20 years even after consistently failing. I don't blame players but blame PCB doing nothing and damn care about that. We are on par with WI and Zim board. Fail miserably for years still don't initiate anything positive to bring up the team instead they keep recycling players or people in PCB.
People had high hope in IK knowing he was a great player himself once upon a time but instead he appointed Misbah (who doesn't even qualify for the head coach position job), Waqar (3 times failure of a coach) and Wasim Khan with big talk. Its time we better lower our hope/expectation and be satisfy with soe wins here and there.

IK doesn't run the board; Mani does and things are okay from an administration point of view. The highlights include

1. The relationship with ECB has been stronger than ever. Cricket Australia has been vocally supportive of Pakistan (recall Butt saying "in bookie circles, there's talk of England throwing away the match")
2. No cricket isolation as was feared in the aftermath of the events from last year (do I need to mention stuff that was officially said?)
3. Sri Lanka remains to be a good ally while South Africa is thinking about sending a team to tour the country
4. Good performance in the ICC boardroom with Manu Swami visiting Lahore
5. An okay relationship with Bangladesh which has been terrible over the last few years
6. An attempt at revamping of the domestic structure - the jury is still out on this and only time will tell

Pakistan cricket is beginning to move in the right direction. There is cricket being played in Pakistan, InshAllah PSL will be held in the country and test cricket has started to slowly trickle back too.

The cricket team performance will hopefully improve too over time as there are some potential good test players being developed however there's never a guarantee of any such thing to happen as careers can go awry in an instant.

A few appointments are dodgy to say the least and there's no denying that but the overall structure in place where the regional coaches are assisting in selection is a good innovative idea (possibly ahead of its time in Pakistani culture which is traditionally very slow in accepting change).

The next move should be getting the TV rights to go up through some dissolution of power of PTV. If that happens, Pak cricket will have a lot of bargaining power which it doesn't have at this moment.

So all in all, there's no such doom as gloom as a ninety-nine point nine percent of your posts indicate.

Taijul Islam is even slower than Misbah. Wonder how painful that must be to watch.

Shaheen is an example for all young Pak pacers. Hardworking lad and eager to learn which helps him to keep on improving rather than being stagnant and satisfied.

Are there no better spinners in Pakistan than Yasir Shah ? Shadab or even Imad won't do worse than him and they are better with the bat as well.

When yasir comes to bat, Bangladesh team should form a guard of honor, as this will be yasirs final test match

yasir has been very disappointing even though there is nothing in the pitch for him

Very good pitch to bat. Bangla batsmen throwing wickets cheaply.
Ordinary bowling.

Looks like BD batsmen lost an opportunity to put pressure on Pak bowlers.

At this ground
Average 1st Inns scores 306
Average 2nd Inns scores 392
Average 3rd Inns scores 256
Average 4th Inns scores 140

BD should have targeted to score in the region of 325.
If they don't score that much, its a gone match already.

Not sure if Yasir is finished or horribly out of form.
But saw some highlights of the young bowler, he should've been given more time to mature.

Already Shaheen is under pressure, if he is overworked against better teams or on docile pitches, he might burn out as well.

this is a placid pitch so to be honest we cant blame bowlers especially on first day ...majority of wickets were batters fault not sure even one good delivery got a wicket

Azhar is a joke captain. Why is he scared to bat first against this Bangladesh side?

Ball was seaming around for all pacers in first session. May have flattened out later though. BD batting lineup sans Shakib and Mushi really should not have reached 200.

new ball is definately the key but i keep saying this is 400 plus pitch easy...second innings i am sure they Bangla boys will score big

These two are batting well. Taijul showing the jokers at the top how to bat. They should be targeting 260 - 270 here. Anything more will be a bonus.

if I was Yasir i would announce my retirement in the middle of the match. when this torture well end, Misbah are you watching?

Someone tell BD that its test cricket. Why are they throwing their bats like its slog overs of t20 game? Most wickets are gifted rather than good bowling. BD immidiately needs a good batting coach who can teach them preseverance and craft of grafting out an innings.

Yasir still getting smashed.

This guy is 30 plus and still has that 1 or 2 hit me balls...

That was one hell of an inswinger from Naseem

143 kph in Naseem’s third spell and 16th over. Just needs to keep on working hard on his fitness

Shaheen has been exceptional since he has got that banana inswing going. Credit to whoever has worked with him Waqar and national academy coaches.

Delighted to see Shaheen pick up another 4fer. He's my favourite player in the team.

After Babar, he's Pakistan's the second best player in their side.

He is still young, if he remains fit there are many more to come so he shouldnt think too much about it.

Yup same here.

That 5fer (5 for 4) in the PSL was the turning point in his career. I think that gave him the confidence that not only does he belong at this level but he can go on to excel over the long term.

Pakistan desperately needs a 200+ pacer. None of the fast bowlers who have debuted within the last 20 years have managed to accomplish this.

As you mentioned PSL might be a T20 league but it serves its purpose to give young guys exposure with international players and now with big crowds as well which many people miss when judging it. Its an integral part of player’s confidence development.

Unfortunately every decent bowler we found in recent times got into some sort of mishap. Though Shaheen is definitely higher quality than most we have seen in last decade and if he can just remain injury free for most part of his career 200+ wickets shouldnt be a problem and if he remains intact even going further wont be a surprise.
