Pakistan Vs England 1st Test Day 3 thread [14/11/05]

26.3 Flintoff to Younis Khan, no run, full in length and ball swings
late into the right hander, drives and mistimes it to cover, ball
is reversing now!

Its reversing so early. Looks like theres something else going on too apart from the subs thing. Atherton is not one of the subs is he?

Nothing to worry bout though. Our lads grew up playing waqar and wasim in the nets. I think of it as a joke when they refer to this lil drift by ENG players as reverse swing. If u wanna watch real reverse watch waqars footage from PAK-ENG 1992.

Next milestone - 25 runs behind England - challo meray shero !!!

we've still got the batting of Inzi, Moyo, Raza and Akmal to come...hopefully a good score is in the plans..

Brilliant post - well said Nadeem!

something inzi should do regularly..draft in imran nazir as a sub fielder and send him on the field for yoyo...we should be doing the same especially at home!!

Impressed with Eng field settings today. They clearly have a set plan for each batsman, which Pak didnt

im sure they did have a plan just did not bowl according to it especialy sami he was just allover the place as usual

and can I add that the run rate is pretty decent as well!

Hoggard in, good opportunity to blast him out of the attack, will get us some quick valuable runs as well.

exactly its nuthing like what wicki used to do..that was extreme swing at extreme pace...even akhter when was younger was more extreme!!..these gora's..always never fail to surprise me with their comments..lol

I wouldnt underestimate the value of Hoggard to Eng.

They cannot tell what reverse swing is. It is a genuine winger and they all start shouting "reverse! Reverse" I remember in Ashes Jones bowled someone with a regualy inswinger and Botham is like "REVERSE REVERSE!"

some ppl are telling me that while butt has been playing, many could have been fooled to think that it was saeed anwar's head under that helmet..

is it really true that he is batting with nice technique, very much like saeed anwar's?

28.4 Hoggard to Younis, FOUR!!, pitched short, gets back and pulls it to deep mid wicket, with Hoggard's speed, short deliveries rarely work!

PPers chanting Younis Younis Oye Hoi Oye Hoi !!!

Wasim and Waqar bowled with Dukes. Kookaburra balls don't reverse as well.

BAN VEGITTO!!!! He should be found guilty for Attempted Murder!! - I nearly had a heart attack.

Just got back in after being out of the house for an hour and a a half and I'm in shock at the score

yeah man i was at scool wot u playin at, gaver me a heart attack

Awful 'heave-ho' bu Butt...no need to take risks this late in the day

Butt played and missed twice!!!! he is losing concentration, im afraid he may throw his wicket away just minuts before the close of play today.....

Oh God PLSSSSSSS dont let that be!!!!!

it will be a great afternoons work if we can end on the days play only 1 wkts down and wiping out the deficit.

Butt needs to get some advice form Youni here

hey fellas! good comeback by pakistan! i think they will require 400 minimum to have a chance

butt 2 runs away from his 50 well done to him came into the match with poor form but bob and co believed in him and hes proven himself

Lots of close ups ofthe female supporters (not all there to watch the 19 yr old Afridi)

I imagine people in Eng must be confused that 'us' barbarians let 'our' women go to watch cricket matches!!!

Billy, wasim and waqar said that they'd reverse an orange from 3rd slip to the leg stump. Yes ENG bowlers are good at donkey work. THey work hard but pls dont even try to compare their swerve to the phenomenon the world saw from 1990-2000.

By the way, where are all the people who said Butt should be dropped hiding? ;0

Those 2 bowlers are leagues upon leagues ahead

:D
Hope this puts an end to the doubters
We still have a long way to go. Younis has a crucial role both tonight and tommorow. We have a terrible propensity to collapse early in the day, so a lot rests on Youni's shoulders from here

Hhhhhh... I'm not going to bother to compare any bowlers but it's a simple fact that the Kookaburra ball does not swing as much later on, hence the England bowlers aren't getting big inswingers like they did in the Ashes or Wasim and Waqar did 10 years ago.

Nah I personally think they are not getting a chance to temper with the ball here :P

we've gone into a shell again I feel.....slowed down too much, we need regular boundaries.

Morning Jonts!
I sense this match has an explosive finale in store :D

agreed, with the way England have been bowling of late, we just can't afford to wait for the wickets to fall

No, they are playing perfectly well. No shell to speak of...

This is the most crucial period of the match, if Pakistan lose a wicket, we'll lose the game.

On the other hand if we have a lead by the end of today, our chances for winning this match will be greater than England's.

Billy, ppl like gough had the same ball as the two Ws but compared to them he got 10% of the amount of reverse they got. Fact is ENG aren't as good as those two at reverse. Five of the ENG players do the damage that only these two did by themselves. Bond has the same ball nowadays as FF and JOnes, doesnt he??? JUst look at the difference in magnitude of swing. Yes ENG try hard and they work as a unit but if u want to see real talent u're looking in the wrong place friend. Leave bowling to us mate.

TWO 50's!!!!!!!!!

well done young lad...must be amazingly relieved.

Imran Farhat must be swearing at Butt under his breath!! :)))

Nice shot and brilliant bit of fielding from Prior on the boundary.
