Pakistan Vs England 1st Test Day 3 thread [14/11/05]

well done salman.. he needs to carry on and make a big one..
got to say englands fielding has been great...

32.1 Hoggard to Butt, 1 run, glances it to deep square leg, brings up his FIFTY!!, his second of the match, very well compiled innings!

Well done Meral Laal !!!

how many more runs to wipe off the lead and how many more overs left?

I wanna see if we can get some sort of a lead going by today..would be a psychological advantage tomorrow morning.

I Did See Flintoff Raising The Seam In The Final Test Of The Ashes. The Camera Was Quick To Look The Other Way

Eng so alert in the field-throwing themselves at everything. Not easy on sub-continental outfields

:14:
WOnderful effort from the younger player in the game. His more senior team mates need to take note on how to apply themselves. He now needs to realise that theres a long, long way to go still

29 runs to go now - hold the course boys ..... eyes on the prize - always !

119 for 1

Salman Butt not out 50
Younis Khan not out 45

Partnership of 89 runs. 25 runs behind.

Overall, a much much better performance by the Pakistan. Come on....just keep going.

Taha, with due respect to Butt let me say that anwar was on a different level entirely. Like most PAK players he underachieved massively and still averaged 45 opening the innings. For me anwar was right up there with the best when it comes to ability. THat 194 showcases more talent than any of laras innings does. Butt is more like jayasuriya i'd say. Similar style and approach although i think this test has shown that he has changed his style substantially. Hes not a one-trick-pony now.

I hate it when the outfield has got overgrown grass......I cant really get in the feel for fielding.

I need a dry, solid and but field. Otherwise I dont get the right rhythm while fielding OR bowling.

ddp and vegitto1 - friendly warning - cool it .

Probably in reference to how good he is through the offside and how he would struggle on the legside.
This pitch is flat and slow, but it does appear that hes played well through the leg side

Billy, ppl like gough had the same ball as the two Ws but compared to them he got 10% of the amount of reverse they got. Fact is ENG aren't as good as those two at reverse. Five of the ENG players do the damage that only these two did by themselves. Bond has the same ball nowadays as FF and JOnes, doesnt he??? JUst look at the difference in magnitude of swing. Yes ENG try hard and they work as a unit but if u want to see real talent u're looking in the wrong place friend. Leave bowling to us mate.

Old Duke balls swing more than old Kookaburra balls. Wasim and Waqar bowled with Duke balls in Pakistan up until early this decade. The England bowlers are currently bowling with Kookaburra balls, therefore it makes no sense to witter on about how little the England bowlers are swinging the it.

Nadeem you are over rating Anwar a tad, he was just an above average test opener nothing compared to the likes of great openers, he didnt even have a single duble hundred to his name, IMO even Trescothick is a better test player then him. Note the word test, as far as ODIs are concerned I agree he is/was one of the greats of ODI cricket. But remember Saeed had a very ordinary start to his career too and Butt's start is way better then his so comparing Butt to Saeed at his best is a tad unfair on Butt.

quick double

touch n go

LOL you quoted Rameez :P That wasn't touch n go because the throw was way over the stumps

Taha i'm not watching it either lol. What i meant was that salman used to let his bottom hand take over all the time in his offside play. Consequently, although his cut shots were a treat to watch he was always risking holing out in the 3rd slip / gully region. Now his top hand is doing much more work and hes playing straighter. Just needs to sort out his legside play a tad and address his hook shot issues in the net. WE'll have a superstar then inshaAllah.

Younis Khan out. Poor shot

Well played though. These two had a partnership which is exactly what we needed. Would have been nice if they had still been together at the end.

Goes for 48! Man!! It was a bit of a loose shot and he paid for it. Smart captaincy to have that man there.

bloody hell just few ballz more we had to last !!!

sami is new man... come on sami hold on...

2 to his 50! He does threw it away, what type of shot was that? There is oen guy there and then 5 meters to his right and left and you hit straight to him. Come on Butt, we need atleast 100 out of you or someone. Just when we were going good, England can now come back in.

That could be a huge wicket in the context of the game. Younis really should have reigned it in cause we always lose a ton of wickets early in the morning - hes one who has the fitness, determination and technique to avoid that problem

o no sami is in. if he gets out today, i hate the idea o f a nightwatchman anyway. could well be 124/3

aray bhai daroo mat; Sami bhai won't let us down...
..
..
inshALlah :)
