Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 1st Test | Abu Dhabi | Sep 28 - Oct 2, 2017 | Day 2

fitness of chandimal is awesome, i dont think any of our players are capable of staying out this long..

Big score from a team which is suppose to be alot weaker than us.

There is a high chance that i will die watching this match

This is the sort of match I'd force inmates at Guantanamo to watch to break them psychologically.

Abu Dhabi is an appalling venue. Dubai and Sharjah should've been the two venues for this Test series.

Or at least organise our UAE Test season between Nov-Jan when the weather is cooler and the pitches have a bit more life in them.

Both bowling sides struggling because of the mistakes of their own management. It was an extremely cowardly decision on part of BD to bowl first on a flat pitch and Pakistan made an extremely foolish decision by playing only one spinner when this was clearly a pitch for 3.

I actually understand the logic of Mushi's decision - they tried to make that a 4 innings affair, which would have taken at least 60 more overs to get a direct result😜 Still, it might work, if we can bat well in 1st innings, but rain has to come into equation.

For this one, I think 2 spinners won't have matter much on this track - may be economy would have been better. It was always time vs PAK bowlers on this wicket and they should have got with 5, at least 4.5 bowlers. It might happen that this Test will cost Yasir as well. Arthur should have known that in UAE they don't put live grass, rather put cut grass & roll it in the surface - it's the worst tactics to kill a wicket as that straw binds the top surface & it gets lower & slower.

If there was any Indian in the process, he would have at least forced - if not grass, then stop watering for 2 days so that it breaks from day 2. This wicket will turn, but slow enough for batsmen to adjust their shots. Worst type of wicket for any cricket - even T20 would have produced 134/4 type score - nothing for bowlers, batsmen or fielders.

Perfect time for babar & haris to make a mark in tests, now that lanka is heading towards 400

These are the 2 batsmen least likely to score on this surface. They are top handed timer of the ball - worst wicket to bat for such batsmen. This is a wicket for Azhar Ali & Fawad Alam.

We got a wicket, we got a wicket - now it's equal : 1 wicket & one run out each in last 120 overs👍

I seriously doubt that BD will be able to bat under the HUGE scoreboard pressure in completely alien and foreign conditions especially considering their best batsman over the past few years and their only batsman who has good experience of playing on different pitches around the world and different bowlers - Shakib Al Hasan - is missing.

I don't want to say this but I think it is an extremely selfish decision on part of Shakib. He could have chosen to skip the IPL, PSL, CPL, BPL, the Global League or any of the hundred franchises he's part of but he chose to abandon BD in what could be the most significant Test series EVER!

I personally think another spinner would have given Yasir confidence as well considering he's had to bowl bulk of the overs and in that way, not only Yas would have been more effective but also the other spinner would have at least chipped in with one wicket.

I think a part of the blame also goes to the captaincy we've seen. Harris was looking to be able to get a wicket or two but he hasn't been persisted with.

Hope people stop going on about Haris's bowling. 1 wicket in FC cricket yet he's made out to be a 5th bowling option.

He should bowl no more than 5-6 overs to give the frontline bowlers a rest. Azhar should be brought into the attack before him.

Dilruwan is a much better batsman than I thought. Seemed like 7 was too high a position for him but he's stayed out there and been an able partner for Chandimal.

I am talking about thought process - obviously Mushi didn't expect 420/2 ....

I think, Haris isn't bowling fit. 10/12 overs is fine, but he can't be given 35 overs. Yasir is bowling well, but it's not about confidence - bowlers can bowl on batting belters, but it's tough to do much on a surface that actually opposes good bowling. This is a track for Ravi Jadeja or Shakib type bowlers, not for leggi or classical finger spinners.

He's created an opportunity in almost every over he's bowled today and yesterday. And there he gets a wicket.

Thank god a wicket. Now please clean this tail up quickly.

Of course but giving him 2 overs for the entirety of Day 2 is just embarrassing and foolish. He is a more than capable part-timer. I don't want him to be bowling 20 or 30 overs but 5 is too few.

One wicket (a straight one that Dilruwan misses trying to slog across the line) doesn't change my opinion.

We shouldn't be relying on part-timers this much to take wickets and if we are to bowl part-timers then Azhar should be first up as he grew up as a proper leggie.

If we had a second specialist spinner Sri Lanka could've been back in the pavillion by now.

Into the tail, new batsman in, get your best bowlers on Sarfraz.

Of course. I agree with everything you're saying but my problem is, when we haven't played an extra spinner when we should've, why not play whatever we have as close to one? Both Haris and Azhar have been underutilized.

Wicket for Haris :out
Yasir has to come and wrap up the tail....
SL batting bit aggressively now

This match has draw written all over it. Pathetic conditions for bowlers.
Don't think Bilal Asif would have made any difference.

dont think azhar will bowl due to knee problem

Apart from Yasir this is not a penetrative bowling attack. Pakistan can still come back. But i don't think they will fold like Bangladesh does in the 2nd innings regularly. This SL team has a decent set of second innings specialists. They have applied themselves well in this test.

Abbas reliving that moment in Dominica where he also got someone out off a no-ball.

Waat lag gayi bhai... Very slim chance of Pak victory. Highest chance is Lankan victory and maybe draw.

Would prefer at least a lead of 100 before declaring tbh.

Not excited to see Shan and Sami bat, but hope they do well.
:shan :saslam

Anyone want to bet how long nightwatchman Sami takes to get to double figures... my bet is 30+ balls

So last 5 wickets fell for 32 runs.... Perera frustrated me more than any other batsman even Chandimal wasn't that frustrating. Literally the guy has the potential to become next Misbah in world cricket

Shan Masood interestingly described as a "touch player" who likes to play his shots on commentary.

With Sami Aslam, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Shan Masood does Pakistan have the most one dimensional top order in world cricket? None of them can bat at a decent rate.

Now the Chisti Mujahids of the forum will say "Oh but you are a child strike rate doesn't matter in test cricket"

Actually that top 4 is just what we need on this pitch. Look at at SL, there best strokemakers: Thirimanne and Chandimal failed.

Dude Chandimal scored 155 not out... what match are you watching :danish

3 off 15 for nightwatchman. Can he get 7 in the next 15 balls?

batting line up like this is going to kill off test cricket in Pakistan.... I wouldn't pay to watch this line up.... it's a bore fest.

Get Fakhar in this team quick before we all lose the will to live.

Wow wow wow Sami hits a boundary.... he should have done sajda and victory lap after that shot

7 off 24 for nightwatchman. Can he get 3 off the next 6? It's getting harder and harder..

Sami is the most darpok player you'll ever see. Lifeless pitch, ordinary and he will still take 200 balls to get his eye in.

Sami Aslam is such a boring slow batsman. Even Shan looks better than him. Sami was born in wrong era. He should be permanent member in 50s test cricket.

Damn I missed nightwatchman getting to double figures... got called in to a quick huddle at work :danish
