There is no reason for PZ to retain Babar as captain given that he is no longer Pakistan's captain, appoint someone else with more cricket intellect as captain. Let's see how good Babar Azam really is without the pressure of the captaincy.

His captaincy is looking a bit flat today.
If you look at yesterday's game, the spinners did well and the pacers got hammered; yet Zalmi didn't select any quality spinner for today's game. They are missing Sufiyan Muqeem and Mehran Mumtaz. Poor selection imo
 
Babar Azam has etched his name in Pakistan Super League history as the first batter to surpass 3000 runs.

Achieving this milestone during a match against Quetta Gladiators in PSL, he played a captain's knock, scoring 68 runs off 42 deliveries.

 
Repeating same old mistakes

Not picking specialist spinners

Playing amateurs at number 3 whilst hogging the opening spot for himself.

Babar Azam needs to learn the art of finishing the game. He is too good to be consistently giving his wicket away once set.
 
What difference if any would it make to Babar if he opens with Saim and Harris, with himself coming in at 3 and solidifying his middle order?

Sadly at the moment when there is a steep chase you can almost bank on Babar getting out or remaining not out and the team losing.

Today he played a good knock yes, others should have stepped up yes, but if he wants to sit in the pantheon of greats he needs to be taking his side home.
 
Today, Babar becomes the fastest batter to reach 10000 T20 runs. He has got it in 271 innings, beating Gayle who did it in 285 innings. He is the also the 2nd Pakistani player to reach this landmark in T20s.

What a player he is.

Another day, another fifty. Back-to-back fifties for King Babar Azam in both games. Babar Azam hit a six and reached 50 in both matches.

A bit slow, but did a good job i guess considering that wickets were falling around him.

This is a low quality domestic league, you are right going too slow - 65 (47) these are useless self-serving runs.
 
Now out! KK should chase the impending lowish total easily. Babar eats too many balls for a minimal output. Yes he gets fifties but its detrimental to the cause.
 
Tbh opening the batting then getting out after 18 overs with a 140+ sr isn't too bad.
 
Runs in a lost cause again.

Mediocre captaincy again.

Not a great start to PSL 9 for Babar.
 
another useless 50, he is the KING when it comes to scoring useless 50s and losing matches. I mean how many games has he lost in the PSL?

when do his runs add value to the team? When did he ever get those 80 runs of 40 deliveries to change the game?
 
Got no support from anywhere else in the batting order but somehow his runs were the useless ones. Sometimes I think the analysts on this forum don’t actually watch the games.
 
Not sure why he is still captaining in PSL, now that he is no longer Pakistan captain. He is clearly not captain material.
 
well compare to Shaheen's captaincy Babar doing a fantastic job, his moves are spot on and more importantly he is scoring runs which is giving some extra confidence but unfortunately not ending up on the winning side.
 
Babar as usual is not getting support from his other 10 players. Saim is a failure so far, Powell was brought in to play 10 balls 30 type cameos but he ended up scoring a run-a-ball score. Bowling also looks mediocre, Shamar Joseph's entry could do some good for this team but overall, Babar is again a lone warrior.
 
Former cricketer Abdul Razzaq, speaking during a program on a local media outlet, commented on the PSL 9 match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings:

"Babar Azam does not possess the skill to lead a team and should not be a captain. He should have brought in an experienced bowler against Kieron Pollard, who could score even 60 runs in a T20 match's last three overs."
 
Out for 31 (26) - very slow by T20 standards I feel.
 
Well honestly Babar was impressive with his bowling changes tonight.

Wicket was not the conventional one that supports bowlers but Babar kept changing his bowlers from both ends to prevent batsmen from getting settled.

MS were behind throughout the chase from the get go. 2-3 overs wasted because Rizwan didn’t face up this time and let the newbie opener eat up too many dots.

Rizwan’s captaincy and personal choice to not face the left arm seamer was extremely shoddy today
 
Babar Azam has matured as a captain. Clearly in this format. But the signs were visible in his last Test Series as a captain in Sri Lanka.

He shouldn't have been axed. After investing so many years on him and under his captaincy the team reached the Semi Final and the Final of the WT20 consecutively.
 
Azhar Ali during a TV show said Peshawar Zalmi are dealing with leadership issues since legendary cricketer Darren Sammy stepped down as the frontman.

“Peshawar Zalmi had an advantage when it came to captaincy as Darren Sammy has led his side [West Indies] to victories in ICC T20 World Cup twice. The experience showed but captaincy issues started when he stepped down. Maybe it’s because [captain] Babar Azam has not been utilizing the acquired resources or it’s because the side comprise their bowling during the draft.”
 
Babar Azam scored 48 (36) against Lahore Qalandars.The issue of his slow strike rate may never be resolved. He is naturally inclined to play T20 cricket in this way.

He also set a record for Peshawar Zalmi with Saim Ayub. Peshawar Zalmi's opening pair, Saim Ayub and Babar Azam, formed a partnership of 136 for the first wicket in the ongoing 12th game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine against Lahore Qalandars.

I am not sure the captain needs to micro manage a professional bowler. Any guidance should be given at the start and then the field should be placed accordingly
 
Babar does have a mixture of young talented youngsters with experience campaigners.

Great captaincy and batting by Babar. Wish to see him back as captain, at least in Test cricket. A pathetic player like Masood captaining the Test team is intolerable.

You can criticize Babar for his flaws but his fan following cannot be denied.

Both him and Shaheen had twitter spaces online a few weeks ago, 24k users logged in to Babar's Twitter space vs 3,500 people for Shaheen.

Today was a neutral game in Lahore i.e. IU vs Peshawar Zalmi but because of Babar the stadium was packed.

And thats how far we have fallen, Babar is seriously overrated. Hitting a 100 vs these club level bowlers means nothing. Just check his stats in icc events past years. Its all hype, a balloon which bursts every time he faces real bowlers. I guess people in Pak are used to average performances and seeing them like sort of special.
 
SSA needs to stay as captain for the WC( although the guy is thicker than a whale omelette), it would be a destructive error to change back to Babar and the ruptions of which would destroy a very average team.

Great innings. Babar even played a shot that I never saw him play before. I wish to see him start performing again in international games.

Let's give Shan Masood a 1-2 year reign as captain before making long term judgements, Babar has already had 5 years which is enough. A captain ultimately like you said lives and dies by results and Babar did Zilch in 5 years.

Shan Masood is the worst batsman in history of Pakistan cricket, he doesn’t deserve to be anywhere close to the team let alone captain the side.

His batting quality is irrelevant as long as he is a better captain than Babar. Even 30's and 40's will do as long as he makes brilliant decisions in the outfield with regards to field placements, bowling changes, selections, tactics for the opposition batsmen.

A player has to make the team on merit before being in contention for captaincy.

Not necessarily, i will take a low quality low out put player any day over a high quality high performing player provided the former is winning games for his country via captaincy vs the later

In our last test series the pathetic player Masood scored 2 50s whereas the "great" Babar scored to score a single one. Even though I am no longer a fan of Shan the captain, he is obviously 100 times superior to Babar who failed to win a single home game in 22/23

Shan can play for a 100 years and he won’t be half the player Babar is. Shan is not international material while Babar is arguably the best batsman in Pakistan history.

Where does this myth of Shan’s captaincy come from? We will see what Pakistan achieves under his leadership. He is already off to a brilliant start by getting whitewashed in Australia.

We will see how many games Shan wins for Pakistan with his captaincy. His captaincy skills are a myth. His embarrassing statements in Australia exposed his mentality.
