Absolutely. But you are confusing talent with statistics. Saims talent was obvious but my criticism was about building a brand when the brand builds itself if you produce the goods. Now the statistics have began to reflect his talent

Fakhar is a natural opener, and his high-risk game is built around aerial shots. Middle-order batters, on the other hand, are better at working the ball into gaps.

The real issue with Rizbabar sticking to opening is their refusal to develop a proper power game, which limits the team’s flexibility.

If you look at Fakhar Zaman’s career closely, he started as an ODI opener and gradually adapted his game to T20s. His transformation really began around 2020, and since he has played a key role in his team’s success. Since then, he’s been averaging 40+ with a strike rate over 145 in PSL, while Rizbabar averages around the same but with strike rates under 130.

Some misleading stats from the 2018-2020 period get thrown around, but that was when Fakhar was still evolving into the T20 opener he is today.

Most people here support Team Pakistan first then the players and only back players who perform well for team pakistan. If a player isn’t doing well, they won’t get support, but the moment they start performing again, Pakistani fans will back them again.

Most pakistan fans aren’t here to prove they are some kind of peers who can predict the future, they just care about results of team pakistan

If saim again starts failing consistently I will again ask for him to be dropped and if babar and rizwan starts performing consistently like saim at a good strike rate from ball 1 they will be the first names on my list.

If a player has a a high ceiling and potential then they should be backed through bad patches and not dropped.

We are all too quick to write people off.

There are two individuals with high ceiling, but they’ve been in a bad patch for three years. A team like Pakistan can’t afford that. It’s better to give domestic performers a chance, who knows, we might find someone great. Backing players for over three years without results is just crazy.
 
I’d hold my horses on this one. Honestly, I haven’t seen a proper allrounder in Pakistan since peak Hafeez around 2010-2013.

Let him play 30-40 games and bowl against a variety of oppositions before we start that conversation.

In Pakistan, anyone who can chip in with even a hint of a second skill gets labeled an allrounder. Agha Salman and Saim Ayub are part timers
 
I could not be more happy today. Saim Ayub has finally set the world alight with his batting and is becoming a contender for the pound for pound batting champion of the world. In all my years of diligently following and supporting Pakistan Cricket, this is the first time that I've felt like we've got a batting legend on our hands. I didn't get this feeling even when Babar Azam was at his ridiculously high peak because no matter how good he was, you never felt like he could run away with a game for you.

I've never made this comparison, and I never thought I would but DARE I SAY, Saim Ayub reminds me of a young Kohli in 2012 that smashed a 183 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. I hope he has as amazing a career. It is a real special feeling to be a Pakistan fan right now.

Let's just agree to it for a while. The lad is full of talent is on an unbelievably form. Just hoping he could continue it in the Tests too.

May God continue to bless Saim with success and help him become our best batter ever. He is another player with the potential to be developed into a batting all-rounder. Scoring two centuries in just three games against South Africa, in South Africa, is no small achievement.

The skill package was always there so the investment in him made sense as he offers the archetype needed for white ball formats to win and the extended run has paid off. Looking great for the all important CT coming up!

Saim in odi has 3 centuries and 1 50 and that 50 came vs aus where the target was only 140 so he didn't have time to complete his century. He made 80 something.

This kid in odi knows how to get hundreds.

Doesn't settle for 50's like bobby or rizzu.

I still have faint hope of a top 4 of Saim/Sharjeel/Babar/Fakhar in ODIs and a top 3 of Saim/Sharjeel/Fakhar in T20s but I know it's never going to happen. That'd be the dream. Sigh.
 
Seems to be the real deal. At the age of 22 that’s a really good start for him.

Now he must translate the success in ODI cricket to test cricket. Where Babar Azam faltered, he must not.

That being said Babar is still a mid 40s averaging test batsman. It’s not elite but it’s not poor either. Saim to replicate even that would be considered good but im sure people have higher expectations and rightly so.

From now onwards starts the real test of character and discipline. He’s passed the talent test.

I waited every day since Sharjeel was banned for his return so he can open with Fakhar. People have no idea what they have missed out on.

But now let it be saim ayub and Fakhar

One thing is for sure that if you find any prodigious level talent then give him couple of years in International cricket because playing domestic cricket will only make the talent goes down the drain.

Look at Rohit Sharma, Dilshan, Sangakkara they all had horrible first years in international cricket but the talent was always there hence they later flourished.

Now next in line should be Maaz Sadaqat ,Ali Hasnain Badshah and Shamyl Khan as they both are clearly highly talented batters with too much time to handle pace and bounce and can dominate spinners as well. They both should play one domestic season and then just should get a longer rope like Saim in international cricket because we always developed batters this way

I'm 100% sure saim took some inspiration and did copy some shots from saeed.

I remember his podcast back in 2020. He has stated multiple times that he watches people like de villers, quinton, and many legends and looks at some of their shots and Practises.

He doesn't want to be the next de villers, he wants to be his own brand but he does want to mimick some strokes.

He disnt mention saeed in the podcast but I'm 100% certain he's taken a look at saeed, Lara and many others
 
Unlike that embarrassing tool RIZWAN, Saim also knows how to behave as a civilized gentleman.

- Didn’t refuse to shake hands with women at the presentation ceremony

- Didn’t refuse to look at the women (RIZWAN even refuses to look at them)

- Did not start his interview with a religious sermon and did not repeatedly bring in religion into the teams performance/victory.

Now imagine RIZWAN at future ICC tournaments refusing to engage with women and acknowledging their existence, plus resorting to religious sermons and putting blame on qudrat ka nizam for any losses.

Considering the quality of these 2 knocks , you can comfortably make the case that he has more range against both spin and pace at his age than Saeed Anwar or :moyo

Maybe Inzi did but I think he was older than his stated age.

Babar even now does not have a significant range against spin bowler. Gets tied down very easily.

Saim’s has one quality which i really like and that's converting 50's into 100's.

In his odi and t20 career the only 50's he got was not out's as he didn't have time to complete his century.

Otherwise he has scored 3 100 hundreds. Quality quality player

Saim is the best young batsman in the world right now. He can only grow from here.
 
also, a little something that might have gone unnoticed, or maybe not, saim actually looks 22, if not younger, he might actually be the age he says he is, which would explain why hes improving when a lot of paks "20" year olds tend to have plateaued even before making their debuts.

if fakhar opens with saim, we might have two non-age fudgers opening for pak, which might just be a first in the country's history.
 
He will score a double ton in the ODI format. Babar and Rizwan can mentor him to that milestone
 
Saim ayub has already surpassed Muhammad rizwan as an odi batsmen.

This shows how rubbish rizzu is. When it comes to Babar, he's a bit behind since Ignoring those 11 stat pad fraud centuries and rubbish inflation

Babar still has 8 centuries against full strength sides including a century in an icc event in odi, hence achievements wise Saim ayub isn't their yet.

However it isn't going to take long to get their. A few more overseas centuries followed by 1 proper icc tournament and an avg of 42 to 45 is enough to surpass babar in odi.

Babar is the most overrated cricketer of all time however he is still a decent batsmen. Rizwan on the other hand is a medicore rubbish who hides behind the wicket keeping clause simply because he's lucky that Pakistan has a track record of rubbish keeper bats barring Kamran akmal who was inconsistent and sarfaraz who fizzled out too quickly post 2015.

Hence he escaped. As a batsmen on the other hand, he's a reminder towards how rubbish Pakistani wicket keeper batters have been as even countries with worse economies have produced liton das or gurbaz who are superior to every single pakistani keeper bat to ever play the game.

Insult to saim or Babar?

Regardless I'm happy to admit I was wrong about saim. However even when I didn't like saim, Comparisons with Babar never made any sense.

One is an accumulator and the other is trying to achieve all format Warner, KP, Travis, Kphli class.

Idk if saim can reach their but he defo can become pakistan's greatest batter.
 
Watching Saim is a treat, Truly a 360 player and can change gears when needed comparing him to Babar is a disservice to a young talent. Babar is a accumulator with limited stroke play, he can be a Pakistani great but Saim have ability to be a world champ.

Ik this is a meme so I will ignore rashid Khan, but saim ayub is one heck of an adorable baby. So cute. Doesn't even look 10, looks younger like 7/8.

Also just letting you know this age fudge thing is blown out of proportion. Yes guys like Abdullah shafique, Chacha, Shaheen are age fudged 100%.

Saim, Babar, Rizwan, Fakhar, Agha probably not.

Rizwan and Agha look older due to beard but they should be 30. They dont look late 30 to early 40.

Babar, Fakhar and saim all have recorded birth certificates.

no doubt, but a real 20 year old will develop a lot differently to someone who is 24 already, that's why in my opinion, unlike most other pak players saim seems to be getting better, rather than worse.

i dont know abt salman, but babar is a little older, birth certificates and IDs dont mean much in pak. generally everyone is two to three years fudged apart from misbah and fakhar, and from the looks of it, saim.

I didn't even have to question Saim. He looks like he is from a good family. It's the villages where they age fudge the most. 4 years is the norm and in KPK villages it's 7.

PCB behind the scenes are age testing. They abandoned a few u16/u19 camps because all they saw is age fudgers.

Say you find a player who is 20 fudge age and real age 24. Lets say it takes him 3 years to work through to internationals. He is 27. Another 2 years to get adjusted. He is 29. 2-4 years later his reflexes start going and we get a Ifti scenario.

thats exactly it, you have very different physical development for the ages, a real 19 year old will get a lot stronger and more durable by the time he reaches 25 than someone who is already 23, or 24. that's before you even take into account mental development, we assume young players will mature with age, learn to absorb pressure, etc, however if that development path is also very different for someone exposed at a young age, versus mid 20s.
 
Saim Ayub has been in phenomenal form, which has earned him some improvement in the latest ICC batters rankings.

He has jumped up 57 spots from 70th to a joint-23rd position in the Latest ICC ODI batters Rankings.

The 22-year-old also climbs an impressive 113 spots to rank joint-42nd among all-rounders in the ODI Rankings.
 
Good start for saim so far. What he has done well is not to chase the ball. Playing on merit .

He needs to play in the manner for which he was selected for. Pakistan picked him over Imam because they wanted a more aggressive approach up top.

What’s the point if you are looking for Survival? Imam could play for himself all day if that’s what you want Saim to do!

I don't think he's trying to hold any ends. But I do feel he needs to start taking inspiration from the likes of Travis head and not the likes of Imam ul haq for test cricket.

Naw I think he's fine in tests. He has a solid technique and good temperament. He'll figure it out eventually
 
A proper inswinger from Rabada bowled out Saim for 28 (36 balls). He was mostly focused on hitting the balls off the stumps.
