[Report] ICC informs the PCB that India has refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 [Updated Post #418]

The whole thing surrounds the money. The money is the biggest factor here.

India is just trying to let Pakistan down, otherwise, there is no real threat for them when the other 7-8 teams are coming.

India's main issue is why Pakistan hosting an ICC event. Simple

If Pakistan accepts the hybrid model. They will get paid the same hosting fee they are getting now.

What you say has no basis.

BCCI can't digest that Pakistan is hosting icc event after 3 decades yet this cancerous board creating fuss

From now on Pakistan should also not visit India for icc or Asia cup tournament and be placed in separate groups

Ok since out of all ex-Players you have chosen Kamran Akmal, who is not even viewed in Pakistan. But answer to your original question, here are some practical examples of how India engage, directly or indirectly, despite their boycott drama with Pak:

Himalayan Salt: Pakistan exports significant quantities of Himalayan pink salt to countries like the UAE, which is then rebranded and sold in India.
Dry Fruits: Pakistani almonds, walnuts, and apricots are often smuggled into India via Afghanistan or Dubai, where they are sold as premium products
ICC Cricket Events: Indian broadcasters like Star Sports buy the rights to tournaments featuring Pakistan, ensuring viewership and ad revenue even for Pakistan matches. Pakistani audiences, in turn, subscribe to Indian platforms like Disney+ Hotstar to watch these matches, benefiting Indian companies financially.
Kartarpur Corridor: Pakistan opened the Kartarpur Corridor in 2019, allowing Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy site in Pakistan without a visa. That time the govt of india had no security threat.
Despite bans on Pakistani artists, Indian OTT platforms like Zee5 stream Pakistani dramas (e.g., Zindagi Gulzar Hai), which are popular in India.
During the 2019 onion price crisis in India, onions from Pakistan were quietly imported via Dubai to stabilize prices.
In 2022, Pakistan granted permission for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flight to use its airspace while traveling to Europe, avoiding long detours.
Indian commercial flights occasionally use Pakistani airspace, saving time and fuel, particularly for routes to Gulf countries.
Bitter truth is despite political boycotts, both nations rely on trade, often indirectly, to meet market demand. India publicly criticizes Pak but quietly engage where it benefits them.

So better not promote and support this hypocrisy on this forum.

India’s imports from Pak decline to zero.
:kp
Ye to latest news hai for you .

In a thread on cricket we are discussing aloo pyaaz and deez nuts!! :ROFLMAO:

Funnily, Kartarpur corridor generates millions of dollars of revenue for Pakistan every year and same is the case of use of Pakistan airspace. Pakistan is not doing any charity. It engages where it can make some Benjamins. Pakistan tried to boycott India, and then remembers their original God, the good old US dollar.

India finally revoked MFN status to Pakistan in 2019 which Pakistan never cared to reciprocate. Pakistan plays its cards where it suits them. So chill on the hypocrisy claims.

Yes Pakistan generates revenue from Kartarpur corridor, but shouldn't india be worried about their citizens like BCCI ? Also BCCI doesn't want Pak to host and earn money, shouldn't India also ensure Pak doesn't generate any revenue from Kartarpur Corridor by banning their citizens to visit ? Why this hypocrisy?

PLease stay on topic and talk about Champions trophy stuff. No need to bring political stuff about trade etc here
It is pertinent to reiterate the facts, which expose the hypocrisy india is doing by choosing where to play bycot rhetoric and where to stay silent.

It's getting boring to keep hearing this excuse by Pakistanis many times , Keep in mind not only india everybody will follow the same logic , Even ur super duper pakistan follows same logic when it comes to trade ,after Aug 5 in solidarity with Kashmiris u stopped all trade with india but put exceptions for medicines as only india produce cheap medicines which ur people can afford. See if ur government really supports Kashmiris then why make exceptions.

They are pathetic.

Indians of other sports come to Pakistan regularly. In Kartadpur Corridor they come regularly. Even tourists and vloggers come here. But Cricket team won't come because titu terror 420 is waiting to blow them cause Cricketers lives are more precious than any other sport

Please don't. The BCCI and Indian cricket will fall on their knees and will have to shed tears of blood otherwise.

If Pakistan allowed medicines it would be for humanitarian purposes rather than political grandstanding. For India it is the other way round, using financial clout as a political weapon to undermine the sport.

If Pakistan had clout it would use too. Like it tried in 1990 1992 1993 and 2009.

Pakistan is not stuck in a time warp like India. What happened in 1990 (whatever it was) does not define today. Only India seems to be stuck in a permanent state of war and this is demonstrable by today's actions. We don't need to go back to 1990 or 1947 to justify every spiteful act.

Yes we need to. Pakistan started this, we are just continuing. Things will not happen as per Pakistan's convenience.

Pakistan withdrew from the 1993 Hero Cup, 4 days before the tournament started.

Pakistan tried to portray India as a unsafe venue in 2009.

Pakistan tries to sabotage India every time they get even the slightest opportunity.

India should never play Pakistan again using that logic. Is that what you are proposing?

There’s something called Integrity. Integrity is when you’re willing to sacrifice something to uphold your principles.

If India said sorry we are not travelling to Pakistan, our players safety is above any ICC tournament, we are willing to sacrifice a potential win in the tournament for our players’ safety, then fair play, I can respect that.

But India don’t want to sacrifice. We won’t send our team, but we want to play so do something.

real Karen behaviour

But Pakistan is allowed to use politics?

That's false. ICC doesn't sell India Pakistan match as some separate pkg.

Broadcaster in this case Star, paid $3bn for India territory. That means they have the right to telecast all ICC matches in India.

No one paid 3bn for India Pakistan matches.
I didn't say the ICC sells Pakistan v india matches.

I said that is the money spinning that broadcasters invest heavily in to recoup and the all cricket boards and ICC profit from.

If Pakistan refuses to play Pakistan v india matches anywhere from now on and takes this stance it will mean your board will have to cover the shortfall for every tournament onwards and the broadcasters will also want to be reimbursed from the original deal.

Where do you think the shortfall is going to be covered from???.

India is doing exactly what Pakistan would do if it was on other side, is it wrong yes but Pakistan would had done the same as prevalent from history.

India-Pakistani issues are childish but its consistent since fall of Soviet esp wrt cricket.

Ok for arguments sake in the same math being used here- let’s say Ind- Pak game draws 1 billion viewers and for each viewer they get $1 meaning 1 billion dollars. Let’s say evil India makes 400 million and remaining 600 divided between Pak and ICC.

India says we don’t want the money, which means the remaining 2 also will not get the money. So what exactly is the argument here?

Indians don’t know how to do business- ok.

Apart from that don’t see the point what Pak media or some posters are making.

The question is can cricket sustain without India- NO

Can cricket sustain without Pakistan- it will be a huge dent losing the 2nd most passionate set of fans and a serious competitive team but in the larger context- YES

You don’t need nationalism, Hindutva etc etc keywords to see that. It’s as obvious as it gets.

If you are feeling bad that Pak got robbed here- I respect your sentiment but every person of all ages and races had an idea India won’t travel so why did PCB not make a move of reaching out to BCCI before spending a lot of money on renovation (we all know where most of that money goes in our part of the world). Ask questions to your own people first. India has always taken one stand and is stuck to that.
The indian stance has been to play Pakistan in ICC events only.

Now they have shifted the goalposts because Pakistan is the host.

India is doing exactly what Pakistan would do if it was on other side, is it wrong yes but Pakistan would had done the same as prevalent from history.

You have no way of knowing this, it is only your presumption.

Here’s the things BCCI is wrong, so is India’s stance, the only way to challenge it is become formidable.

India made sure it did the same as bankruptcy in 1989.. so we don’t have to go back.

Pakistan along with US used to humiliate us in UN(1992-94) and PCB used to do that to BCCI in cricket.

Easier to be big hearted when you are the underdog.

Hope you are joking what do you think Pakistan was doing from 1991-1994?

Not only in cricket but across politics, exactly what India is doing now.
That was 1991, now it is 2024, more than 30 years later. If your position is that Pakistan and India must maintain hostile relations for all time based on the past then future discussions are a waste of time.

You asked me that it’s presumption I gave you the time when Pakistan was more prosperous than India and so was PCB and what they did and it wasn’t only cricket also It was 1993

So in reality what your saying is what we all know.

india doesn't want to play Pakistan in Pakistan is not for cricketing reasons.

It is due to long held political grudges.

"Why Aren't India And Pakistan Getting Banned?" ICC Gets Stern Message Amid Champions Trophy Venue Row

Former wicket-keeper batter Rashid Latif says if had the power he would not let Pakistan play against India in any tournament and also suggested that ICC should not grant the hosting rights of global events to both countries until they resolve their issues. The BCCI has refused to send its team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy and there speculation that the entire tournament could be moved out of the country. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) asking for a written confirmation from the BCCI for India's inability to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.

"There's a big possibility that Pakistan can stop playing cricket against India. Had I been in power, then, yes, I may have taken this strong step. I would not blame anyone for this. If you don't want to play (in Pakistan), then don't play against us (at all)," Latif, known for his plain speak, told PTI Videos.

"If I would have been there, I would have taken this decision, and fought against the BCCI." He suggested that the ICC should also stop giving major tournaments to both India and Pakistan till issues are resolved.

"In my opinion, ICC should withhold the hosting rights for both countries until these issues between them are resolved; until their problems are settled," said the former wicketkeeper-batter who played 37 Tests and 166 ODIs.

Touching upon the issue of political interference in cricket, particularly in Asia, Latif referred to the ban imposed on Sri Lanka (in 2023) and Zimbabwe (in 2019) by the ICC and questioned why the global body was lenient towards India and Pakistan.

The ICC had suspended Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in November last year for alleged political interference in the administration of the sport in the country. The suspension was lifted in January this year.

"Why aren't India and Pakistan getting banned? Because, ICC has a lot of stake on them," he said.

The former cricketer criticised BCCI's stance regarding security concerns for the Indian team in Pakistan, saying the ICC's security team had assessed his country and deemed it safe.

"This is the first time, I would say, the BCCI is at fault. The reason they are stating is very weak. It has to be in writing that the BCCI and the Indian cricket team is feeling threatened.

"The ICC security team came here and gave the green light for the tournament. If you had issues, you could have reported to them," he said.

On whether Pakistan will withdraw from the Champions Trophy if the tournament is shifted elsewhere, the veteran said, "Nobody has seen it on paper. It has to be written down on a piece of paper. We had a word with the PCB (and) they said they have sent an e-mail to the Pakistan government regarding this. This is a serious legal issue, nobody is willing to give it in writing." Latif was confident that lack of matches with India would not hamper Pakistan cricket's progress.

"We didn't play at home for 12 long years. What could be more painful than that? Pakistan will get the 34 million dollars in every eight-year time (from ICC), whether they play India or not. The boards that are rich will suffer losses, not a board like PCB that doesn't have the money.

"Pakistan can survive playing bilateral series even if they don't play major ICC tournaments."

let us know when has Pakistan offered any olive branch.
Typical response, "There should be no consequences for what we did? Its so unfair that we are being treated in the shame fashion as we were treating India in the past. There is no justice in this world." :nonstop:

ICC launch a refreshed visual identity for the men’s and women’s Champions Trophy

The ICC today launched a brand-new visual identity for both the men’s and women’s Champions Trophy with an entertaining and distinctive edge.

The unmissable Champions Trophy sees the top teams in the world come together for a thrilling two-week competition where every match counts. The men’s event will return for the first time since 2017, whilst there is a brand-new women’s version in the T20 format, as the world’s best players will compete for the Champions Trophy white jackets.

A battle for the iconic white jackets will occur every two years as an alternating men’s ODI event featuring the top eight teams and then entering a new era, the top six women’s T20 teams will compete in an intense and all-out showdown where we will witness each team write history.

The newly created visual identity is a digital-first vibrant expression, deliberately challenging the status quo, with an unconventional typographic logo which sets the tone for the look – bold and loud, confident and fun.

It has been designed to be agile, distinctive, and expressive, it’s inspired by the language of cricket; from the unique and integral words that describe the game, to the shouts when a wicket falls, to the name of each superstar that appears on the back of their kit. Both the verbal and written words are an integral part of the sport and that is celebrated through the brand.

ICC Chief Commercial Officer, Anurag Dahiya said: "The return of the men’s ICC Champions Trophy with a brand-new women’s event has provided us with a great opportunity for a refreshed vibrant and fun visual identity to represent the events over the next few years.

“The two-weeks of thrilling competition the event is renowned for is reflected in the bold and loud edge to the brand. The new elements are accompanied by the distinctive white jackets which nod to the history of the Champions Trophy and its unique, global appeal.”

What is it you think Pakistan should be offering an olive branch for?

If you think they don't have anything to offer. Then please continue to cry about the world being so unfair and mean to you.
World is not fair deal with it like everyone else in the world.

I just asked a simple question. If you think Pakistan should be offering an olive branch to play a game of cricket, what is it the reason they should be offering it? There is a cricket tournament which India is invited to play. So if you want an olive branch above that, then there must be a reason for it no?

What did Pakistan do regarding Asia Cup 2018, Capt. Knowledge?

Some of the reactions are just hillarious. Pretty much anyone with common sense knew India was never going to travel to Pakistan but some people here and few jingoistic journalists kept saying India will have to travel to Pakistan and will be forced to do so. Now that BCCI has clearly announced what most people with common sense already knew, the crying has started.

Problem is money at the end of the day. Pakistan is a push over nation. If it was a capable nation, you wouldn't be seeing a bunch of Pakistani students run away to overseas countries and start a new life.

At the end of the day the country has been given alot of money but not only is it incompetent in utilising it properly, it hasn't been able to get rid of its hostile borders.

China doesn't give a damn, India and Afghanistan being hostile is on them. Similarly Bangladesh or any other nation closeby just doesn't care and Is overall disassociated.

Its a country with barely any support and a country that is being run by a government that has no clue on how to run a country.
The problem is when you have an inept , incompetent unelected Govt that uses the countries money to fund personal ventures overseas than that will result in a mass exodus anywhere in the world.

If you give a lot of money to a Parana you'd be a fool to expect positive result's.

Every citizen in the world looks for safety , Financial security and prosperity which is where leadership and great / good governance and comes in.

There is immense natural resources and minerals in Pakistan as well as talented people in all walks of life but they need a platform like everyone else to succeed.

You are living in the first world with all the great tech of modern world. Use them.

Ok I will assume Pakistan did nothing untoward in 2018 as you have not provided any substance to your cryptic message.

So then there would be no reason for Pakistan to be offering olive branches to a team which has been formally invited to participate in an international cricket tournament. I am sure the Indian party would be well looked after as they were the last time they were on Pakistani soil.

There is also a thing called acting like a nation and a responsible one at that. There’s a thing called not sponsoring terrorist acts on your neighbouring countries.

Any references for 2011 semi final?

As far as I know he thanked people from Kolkata, Kashmir who supported them during 2016 T20WC. He also thanked India (govt &bcci) for taking good care of Pak team. Nothing wrong in thanking people who support you.
Kashmir is a poltical thing between India and Pakistan. Infact the one prime irritant between the two nations.
and with continuous harping of "NO POLITICS IN SPORTS" you are now trying to justify the comments made on a cricket ground. Control the dogalapan

The whole thing surrounds the money. The money is the biggest factor here.

India is just trying to let Pakistan down, otherwise, there is no real threat for them when the other 7-8 teams are coming.

India's main issue is why Pakistan hosting an ICC event. Simple

Without money, even Pak cricketers or for the matter of fact any cricketers would not even play for their country. Money is the factor always in sports.

The main issue for me is pulling out last minute. Why not pull out an year ago.

Clearly a disgusting agenda.
A year ago why was PCB so confident that India would travel. What changed in the diplomatic relations between the 2 countries in a year? Why didn’t PCB take the initiative to confirm with BCCI before claiming to spend a shady amount of money on renovation? Did you think that point through?

I asked for reference for what he said in semi final ?

Also did he say we will occupy Kashmir ?

He thanked Kashmiri people who were supporting Pak, similarly he thanked Kolkata people too for support and hospitality. Now your radical mind is not seeing anything beyond your dirty RSS agenda, that's not Afridi's problem.

Yes it is all our fault. All our fault

Yes it is. If you are holding a world tournament you need to clear all issues way in advance. If PCB assumed BCCI would just walk in and play the tournament like business as usual it is definitely a cause for someone getting fired over negligence.

Exactly. PCB should not have assumed a certain behaviour from BCCI. All PCB’s fault for being so naive.

BCCI has always been firm on its stance.

Are Pak players allowed in IPL?

Do bilaterals happen between India and Pak?

Did India travel to Pak for Asia cup?

After Kashmir issue,Is there trade between the 2 countries except for important medication that comes from India?

is England and Australia which also get presidential security have the same threat perception as Indians or Indian team?

Now if a common man like me can have these doubts, I am sure a corporation like PCB technically run by your government should have had the same questions. obviously you are not thinking straight due to emotional attachment to this issue but PCB has 0 excuses and should get 0 sympathies here.

Why does the PCB have to do anything? They were told by the ICC to host the tournament, so made preparations. That’s the logical thing to do.

It’s an ICC problem, not a Pakistan problem.

India cried off to the ICC, not Pakistan.

The ICC has to deal with it
