Shaheen Shah Afridi 10-fer leads Pakistan to 109-run win over West Indies in 2nd Test - Series Drawn

If you listened to Rizwan, they are looking to play some quick overs with the spinners so they get that new ball. Very good ploy by Babar.
 
Plan strikes. Rizwan was saying just on the previous ball no issue with the boundary. They were enticing Holder to play on the up
 
Very strange tactics from Babar here . .
With the light fading (flood lights on) and a chance of rain . . why is Fawad bowling? WHy was Faheem bowling?

You've got tops 25 to 30 overs left . . surely, your 3 main fast bowlers should be okay to bowl 8 overs each with Nauman bowling the remaining 6 . . why are they being "saved" for the new ball? Really strange . .

Plus, the field for both Shaheen initially and then Faheem was ridiculous too . . As if Pak is trying to save a test match
 
You can't keep Fawad out of action for long. He has taken all the catches that came along to him. One of them was a great catch
 
Fawad is such a good cricketer , good batsman, good fielder, he should be used for bowling more.

His progress along with Rizwan’s VC has been going well. We can criticize the thinking or the strategies but, they are trying to strategize and improve that side or their game

The strategy if you listen, is to play quick overs with the spinners, as spinners won't take long to play their overs and then they can get that new ball.

Faheem boqling was bad decision,but Fawad is good to bowl quick overs to get to new ball.

Not attacking enough at times, but has been spot on with the tactics these last few overs. And the fact that he has remained so calm and patient has impressed me. Hasn’t panicked at all.

Agreed that there is still a lot of roam for improvement but, him trying to improve in different aspects can be seen and that’s encouraging. He is really fortunate as well to have a deputy like Rizwan who is a pretty good reader of the game
 
Here's the difference between Nauman and Yasir . .

When the pitch gives nothing, Nauman (or a decent finger spinner) will keep it tight and not give free runs away . . becomes an asset for the captain . . when the pitch does start to do something, they will be more than useful

For a Yasir, when the pitch gives nothing . . they won't be able to keep it tight (as no control) and hence puts pressure on fast bowlers . . when the pitch does something, they can run through sides (what Yasir has done many times in his career) . .

Pakistan needs to be smart about who to play where now (and its quite obvious) . .

Secondly, when Nauman Ali bowls, the years of toil and experience are so visible . . the guile, patience, skill . . great to watch!
 
Our players need to improve their fitness for test cricket, they tend to go into a brain fade zone every now and then while in the field :smith

Lol! Yes, he has probably had more air time combined than most tailenders with bowl and then with the bat.

Especially on surfaces with little to no assistance. Not the 3 man pace quartet you require to dominate around the world with Abbas in it unfortunately.

well done pakistan on levelling series, shouldnt have lost the 1st test. good comeback here.
 
Thank Allah it was not Abid Ali catching that one. Brilliant play by Pakistan throughout the match. Shame the dropped catches in the last match prevented them winning the series.

Terrific win in a well fought and exciting series.
1-1 keeps both teams alive in the WTC.

Oh and Azams captaincy has been pretty good in this second test. Aggressive gameplay.
 
An incredible victory and one hell of a job by Pakistan to play as aggressively as they did to declare in the 1st innings, score very quickly in the 2nd and the bowlers came up huge.
 
Mubarikan every one lots of issues to be resolved but lets enjoy even though should have won the first
 
Well deserved win for Pak. Was all over WI in this match and I think the match turned out to be mainly with rain than WI.

Should have won the first test as well but, Pak choked and WI kept the cool and deserved to win. Otherwise Pak is superior test team in almost every aspect in my opinion anywhere if we want to bring in stats of individual players or team rankings.

Shaheen showing everyone that he has the potential to be a great bowler..

Should have won this series 2 nil but now everyone knows that Yasir is past his sell by date and we need a couple of new openers.
 
A ruthless and crushing win. Despite the weather and the umpires **, we stuck through and played attacking cricket. Well done.
 
pakistan need to sort out the openers and number 3 spot in the team. weve got away with it vs SA and WI but wont against better sides.
 
Uncharacteristically bold and attacking cricket by Pakistan in this test match. Has to be applauded.

I think funnily enough, this series has shown us the best and worst sides of Pakistan really well.

The sad thing is that it has yet again reinforced the idea of Pakistan as a mercurial side. Which tells you that the cricket team is right where it was before the series.

Congratulations Pakistan!

Just an aside, I got told that I was being disrespectful blah blah to the WI after after last match for calling them a pub team etc. I think we've just shown even with 7 players and 4 passengers we can still easily beat this particular WI side.

BTW, name calling is just for a bit of fun and high jinks, I don't think anybody from the WI is going to take offence to someone calling them minnows from some random poster on an Internet forum.
