What a retard!:malik
Who...and why?

Why did you cut off the list at Shuvo???

why don't you want the World to see that Malik is better than those two and also the dozens of people you're hiding from that list...

Haters gonna hate :malik

Sorry LethalSami... I apologize! Yes, I was hiding best Bangladeshi batman (Ashraful) and Canadian batsman (Rizwan) from the list .... just to make Malik look horrible. Sorry! I'll go sit in the corner! :(

Here is the list....

.

Malik and his man Friday.

As to why? Just read his posts
Why Malik.....??? He is might fine club and first class cricketer...?? If selectors keep selecting him even after his dismal performance in last 56 international innings... that is not Malik's fault... or is it? :Fridous Aashiq Awan.

Now for the "posts" and "poster"..... :|

dude if you support Tuafeeq despite being in horrible form[you bring stats like best opening partnership since Saeed/Shoail], then Shoaib Malik is 8th all time in ODI history of Pakistan of best averages and justifies his selection.

Dude.... has Taufeeq failed in 54 of last 56 international innings?

Dude.... I was not supporting Taufeeq.

Dude.... I was against disturbing an stable opening partnership.

Dude.... I was just asking the kids that how they are so sure that Nasir will do better than Taufeeq.

Dude.... How many triple 100s have Nasir scored so far that you were expecting?

do or die match for Sailkot..against Rawalpindi..(currently at top with 12 points and already qualified for semis)

other two teams (islamabad and khi whites) got zero points but still can qualify for semi..

Sailkot got 6 points with 2 draws (with 1st inning lead) in 2 matches...

if they draw vs rawalpindi they will have 9...which will not be enough...as match between isl vs khi-w can give one of them 9 points...and hence 1 win > 3 draws...Sailkot will be out of tournament...

this begs a question...is the point system fair?
or should matches be of 5 days duration?

congrats to sailkot

Malik won the do or die match

and now sailkot team is in semi..

Thrashed the Rawalpindi (top team in previous round) in three days...

one must not forget that 4th days of Sailkot's previous match was abandoned...

so malik had to ensure a win in three days...
nothing left on chance...

As a bowler, took top 8 wkts..and scored 150+ with the SR of `140...

Bravo!!!

right thread???

I am confident Malik will perform really well in this series. He has been among the runs for a while. This should be a good test for him as well.

Not a single innings in South Africa.

3 not outs coming down the order. All but one innings at 6 and 7.

Only 211 runs in EIGHT innings.

ONE fifty only.

Scared of the ball every innings.

not his fault...

he should have been picked ahead of Hafeez, Azhar, Misbah ...

well, he was not picked and we got out under 50...

lastly, he avg 77 vs sa in SA in ODIs,

and it would not be his fault if they sent him at #7/#8

Not his fault he is scared of the ball?

Why are you bringing ODIs stats in to Test team selection? He may average 77 but he has never scored that many runs in a single innings against them in South Africa.

Test average in England 14.83
in India 5.50
in New Zealand 11.50

interestingly, in those matches, only farhat had higher avg than malik (~18) , rest had single digit avg..(i.e. azhar 8.5)

Can you please define "among the runs" and "for a while" in kind of numerical terms????

Below are his runs is last 3 years 5 months (enough for a while?)...in T20 and ODIs for which he is selected for;

Notice how he miserably FAILED against teams like BD, ZIM, SL in SC/UAE type pitches....!!

Also notice... he has 23 fours in 20 ODI innings... that is @ ONE 4 per innings!
Similarly... he has 27 fours in 24 T20 innings.... that is ALSO @ ONE 4 per innings!
Any tailender or a club cricketer can do better than that! ;-) Look here .. how many tailenders have same or better ratio of hitting 4s in ODIs/T20s; :))

You can't keep a good man down for long.

It's only a matter of time before the phenom that is Shoaib Malik comes back to form with a bang.

Who is that "you" .... that you are referring to?

..and how LONG that "long" you think, is long enough?

It's only a matter of time before the phenom that is Shoaib Malik comes back to form with a bang.

phe·nom [fee-nom, fi-nom] Show IPA
noun Slang.
a phenomenon, especially a young prodigy: a twelve-year-old tennis phenom.

Can you provide a couple of examples/reasons... that you called him a "phenom"???

Shoaib Malik is the greatest batsman Pakistan has produced in recent times.

I've made this post solely for the purpose of rustling W635's nerves :)

Also... speaking of SS..... the BEST EVER domestic side in the history of cricket...

Have they won the QEA Trophy final yet?

Interestingly, Malik was in his tenth year of international cricket, Azhar in his first.

Interestingly, Malik batted lower than every single frontline batsman, avoiding that crucial new-ball you like talking about, in 2 of the 3 tests.

Interestingly, your performance criteria changes with every post. Giving greater importance to a Malik 20, then another's century or overall average. Then switching emphasis to averages in a futile attempt to manipulate stats.

Interestingly, you didn't actually name the other players that Malik did better than. Interestingly they were;

Salman Butt - Never good enough for international cricket.

Azhar Ali, Umar Akmal, Umar Amin - All in the first year of their career.

Interestingly, there was no Younis, Yousaf, Misbah, Hafeez, Taufeeq, Jamshed (looks like a whole batting line-up)......(I know it's not his fault yada yada yada)

Interestingly, even though Hafeez is poor, he is a better batsman and bowler in all formats than Malik.

Interestingly, Malik was out-performed by Umar Gul with the bat.

Interestingly, he was tried at number 4 at Edgbaston where he made a wonderful 3 and unbelievably, he did the double by making a scintillating 3 in the 2nd innings. Not sure if any other Pakistan bat has done that at Edgbaston. Does this mean he can't negotiate the new ball? Just out of interest.

A Punjabi word "chhitraul"....... can also be used for this type of stuff.... but then again.... as they say ".... banda dheet hona chai da aye"! :P

BZ what do expect from Malik this series? I can see him average of 77 going up.

SS.... come on yaar.... you don't know BZ yet???? When it comes to runs from Malik's bat, BZ is such a modest and humble person ... that even a 2 runs innings will make him go dancing on the streets with joy;

Have you forgotten these posts -after Malik's epic 2* vs Sri Lanak??

I responded to your post, where you mentioned the avg...

 @ dumbness

Talking about ODIs.

Misbah and hafeez need to decide about the role of Malik in team...

Since jan 12, he avg 50+ in wins, (next one got half this number)
but we have seen time and time again, they have been playing with his batting positions...

I expect him to do well...

ofcourse he got avg of 77 vs SA in SA...for some reason.

best ODI player ever produced by Pakistan after Inzi..

Black Zero quoted your post in thread "The Shoaib Malik 'Support' Thread" - PakPassio

Malik is one of the most underated allrounders in world cricket, he balls, bats and fields

sort of deceptive given the scale. He's actually never been ranked no.1 all rounder, highest is three. Varying between 1 and 10 on that graph isn't going to look big.

Also the drop is very noticeable after 2008 when Malik started to lose form. But you're right in the sense that in a period of 2004-2008 he was pretty good. Had a bad 2009 and hasn't really recovered from that to where he was pre 2009.

as the scale on that y-axis approaches infinity, Malik reaches (or any allrounder who plays cricket for that matter) appears to reach the top (#1)...

Ashraful will appear as number one batsman if you do a one for him with a relatively similar scale for a batsman.

==>> that graph is super dumb, almost approaching your territory (but one thing we all know for sure, nothing comes near that :yk)

If you are not selected you lose points by default..for every missed match

he was banned by I.Butt..and then he was non regular member of squad...

that dip just shows that...

well Malik's average hasn't been too great either since then even if he hasn't been playing regularly.

Personally I see a different batsman at the crease too, looks a lot less confident and goes for his shots much less too. He's been given chances to comeback but he doesn't look great.

Was impressed with his innings against India in that T20 though. Best innings from him in years.

plus, he is not bowling much

in odis, he won the only match vs uk
in all wins vs india, Malik contributed heavily and whenever he had an off day, Pakistan just could n't win...

back to ranking points,
- missed matches played a bigger role,
- ranking based on 3 -> 4 years cycle, so his ban period and missed period is contributing heavily toward this dip. (pakistan played 87 in last 4 years while malik played only 33)

rule is that player loses 1% for every missed match (and Malik missed 54 matches)

But don't you think Malik looks worse out there with the bat surely than he used to? Looks like a guy out of knick and he struggles to make runs most times for the past few years. The consistency of which he scores has gone down dramatically. And even if Malik does contribute heavily to our wins, if he scores big less regularly than he used to, that will end up in less wins for Pakistan (than if he was contributing regularly).

His bowling IMO seems to have improved actually. Just generally his bowling isn't required much, more chip in a few overs when the pacers are getting a beating.

If you see, Y-Axis terminates at 1 (Y axis is not going to infinity as it shows the ranking)

i'm talking about the SCALE
its just inverted....from 1-200 to 200-1.....since the (smaller) the position the better....

if it was 1000-1 on Y-axis, it would make Malik look even better.

but lets Not kid ourself, you can't polish a turd........no hope for you or Maliik

even he has not played on any batting position even 10 matches in last 4 yerars (he played from #2 to #87) still he is playing better than the rest...

to me, except nzl and england, he has been fine.

lolz at spin...

where is the infinity in this explanation?

do we have infinite number of international players?

even if there are, then, logarithmic scale can be used...
even with linear scale, you can easily see that he has been top 5 for several years...
so you can kid yourself...

didn't think i'd live to see a day when BZ, of all people BZ, would accuse me of spinning stuff :asif

Scale....
1-100
1-1000
1-10000
1-100000
1-1000000
.
.
.
.
.
1-Infinity

catch my drift :moyo

in those cases logarithmic scale is used:

on graph, distance between 10^5 - 10^4=!0^4-10^3=10^3-10^2=100-10=10-1

as a sample:
webtraffic-log.gif

you need to come up with better story...

you raised irrelevant point, infinite:1 scale, which is obviously not in the icc ranking graph

and to add to that assumption, you objected your own assumption that in case of infinity, most player will appear near top, but thats the problem if your assumption is valid...which it is NOT.

so you objecting yourself...really tragic.

You are being unfair. Sort it by averages and see him rise to the top.

i just wanted the poster to explain us the table...

he just filtered out 7 completed innings of malik in last three years...and then compared with someone who played ~50 innings...and sorted by runs scored...

4th  of the day...

That's what I said. He was being unfair by showing aggregate runs when Malik has not played enough. Average is the best reflection of performance. Agree?

I do not know, i am still waiting for the poster to explain us the table...

maybe he got some secret message to convey...

key points:

period: jan 1, 2010.... (i do not know why jan 1, 2010, and why not jan 1, 2012)
batting position 6-8 (why? )
sorted by runs scored (why not sorted by number of first ball ducks? ;) )

and there are several other question about this mysterious table...i really hope the poster provide some insight to it...

only thing tragic is that loser Malik keeps coming back into the team coz of Firdous Appa despite being an utterly pathetic cricketer who plays politics and creates divisions in the team..

tragic indeed.

again, what has Malik done in the last 3 years, except laying a giant turd and swimming in it? NADA
