Shoaib Malik Support & Performance Watch

Should Malik be in the plans for the 2019 WC?

  • Total voters
    421
  • Poll closed .
Is he back to his old self ... or building a base for another MoM performance?

.

And the thread is back with some high activity...

What do mean????? BZ's favorite player (and my favorite - when he is not playing for Pakistan) is playing ..... what did you expect?

Looks like BZ's post above with the picture jinxed him. 1 runs in a 27 run partnership! :(

.

first match..pollard should have been mom ..anyway..it does not matter...

malik got 4 mom in his last 5 t20 matches..a wr?

i need to dbl-check his matches for pia

Wow..... first time BZ posting while Malik is batting!!

Why do you think, I always hope & pray that he keeps playing for these teams.... and stay away from Pak team!

By the way... when was the last time he got MoM playing for Pakistan?? How many matches/years ago? Can you please dbl-check that also?

He choked in the final twice. Can't play under pressure.

Is this you BZ?
Fazal Shahab: "Great match in prospect having the likes of Malik , Pollard , Samuels ,Ponting ... Will be an exciting contest... CPL is sheer entertainment"

Why can't this dramebaaz bat like this internationally?

prove it!

Count the matches between his 50's

After Afridi-like (ooops did not mean to insult Malik) six ..... he gets out next ball! :(

Nice answer you are a genius when it comes to malik stats you know...

Was there is any doubt??????

Why do you think, he has not replied to my last MoM question above? :P

The only format where Malik should even be considered is T20, and he should be first name in squad if they're playing India :P

he owes me an apology...once i get it..i will furnish answers to all his pending questions.

however, will i ever get an apology?!

Apology for what??? Fabricating stats? Putting out false numbers?? Counting slip catches as caught behinds???? Counting catching in the gully as caught behind?? Telling everybody that old scorecards kept track of where in field catches were taken?????

Tell me pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease - if the reason is one of the above..... and I'd be glad to apoligize....so that you can get out of this russi-run behavior!!!!

People might now start asking for his inclusion in the side as permanent based on his performance from the match. Yes, he performed well but it is better if he is left out. If he could consistently perform well at the international stage then that would be a totally different story altogether.

Completelt Irrelevant- Does Ravindera Jadega deserves the title, "Sir" which has been given following his some astounding performance with the ball? Something tells me that Shoaib Malik's selection is remotely likely. :D

Same. I find it annoying that people now call him by "Sir", even though i know they're only playing.

SS.... wasn't BZ used to say Malik is better than YK, MY and Hanif Mohammad...!! Look below...

Can't believe Malik played and lead Pakistan in test cricket with these stats;

Pakistani batsmen with 1000 or mores runs and 30+ average .... the % of runs and 100s they scored for their team.... and the difference between their ave and team's batting average while they were part of the team!

Malik and Kamran are the ONLY two batsmen who have difference in negative!

Can't believe Malik played and lead Pakistan in test cricket with these stats.

BZ .... would love to hear your comments about these stats... all three categories! :)

.....

Look who is talking.

What do you mean?

I was talking about this thread and post where BZ unloaded totally false and incorrect stats....and then tried to justified them.

http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showpost.php?p=5490034&postcount=57

In fact, there is another big flaw in his post/stats above which I will mention after he apologizes for the first flaw that I mentioned/questioned!

I don't think I have ever posted incorrect or false stats on PP..... if I have, I am willing to apologize. Just show me...!

BZ tried to justified his inaccurate numbers. He should be the one apologizing. :)

What do you mean?

I don't think I have ever posted incorrect or false stats on PP..... if I have, I am willing to apologize. Just show me...!

I asked you many times to let us know the stat filter criterion you used to get the average of 19 of Tendulkar in NZ.. you might know that thread.. but I didn't get a response from you, may be you did not look at my question then.

Will you please oblige by providing the stat fliter criterion for that (in that thread itself) ?

Shoaib Malik, the 31-year old Pakistan allrounder, believes he has another "five or six years" of cricket left in him. Malik, who was dropped from the national squad after the Champions Trophy, also wants to bat up the order instead of No 6 or 7, where he's been used of late.

"Representing your country is the biggest thing (and) of course I want to play for my team (Pakistan), I want to do well for my country," Malik said. "I still think I can play for another five or six years. I am fit but I want to see myself consistent. I do not want to bat at No 6 anymore. I want to bat at No 3 or 4."

Malik averages 39.02 in 51 ODI innings batting at Nos 1 to 3. At positions 4 to 7, his average comes down to 31.16 from 128 innings.

Malik last played Test cricket in 2010 but was part of Pakistan's limited-overs units until the Champions Trophy earlier this year, after which he has been ignored for the tours of West Indies and Zimbabwe. He admitted that injuries and poor form had contributed to his decline, but said he had now regained his strength. "I was struggling with my shoulder and my elbow but I have had surgery for my elbow and I have worked hard in the gym every day (since being dropped). Now I am absolutely fine. I can even bowl 30 overs in one day. I am very happy and I want to play as an all-rounder. That is my priority."

Malik is currently playing in the Caribbean Premier League, where he is the second-leading run-getter in the tournament with 223 runs from seven innings at a strike-rate of 114.94. Malik's side Barbados Tridents will face Jamaica Tallawahs in the second semi-final in Port-of-Spain on Friday. "It (CPL) is so far, so good (for me). I have played some good innings, (I have been) bowling also. I want my team to be in the final and win this CPL."

He said that Barbados captain Kieron Pollard's faith in him as an all-rounder, since they spoke at the Champions Trophy, had boosted him. "When someone gives you that confidence it is always good," Malik said, revealing that Pollard encouraged him to bowl as much as possible and extend his all-rounder aspirations.

Successfully helping his team getting kicked out of the CPL .....first with his slower than snail batting... and then brilliant bowling....

At least Afridi can bash minnows!!! ;-)

Re: The Shoaib Malik 'Support' Thread

He helped his team . they were 20 something for 2 when he came In. Held things together.

Bowling is another story

In T20s.... you hold innings together for 10-11 overs.... not until 15 overs when you have big hitters like KP and Azhar sitting the dug out! I am watching the match.... he tried to hit out... but just could not!!!

25 dot balls & 19 singles ...... in a 47 ball innings!!

Only 8 scoring shots were more than a single!!! He was practicing to be selected for Pakistan test team in the fall, I think.

Well he did what needed to be done at the time. If he got out trying to hit a six when it was. 6 for 2 early people would say he played crap. Can't please everyone.

"babies" don't know that wide are bowled again until bowler gets it right... and pathetic batmen, still can't score!!!

Above all.... "infants" have no clue that wides are not included in the number of ball played by the batsman during the innings/scorecard.

....and only "geniuses" know that catches in slips and gully are counted as caught behind!!!

One of the very few times when a player hands the match to the other team on a golden platter!

So much for holding the innings together!!!!

Sanga also walked in when they lost their best striker for 3 runs... and yet, held innings together while scoring 38 ball 50!!

children now blaming batsman for wides and legbyes

now i have to waste time to explain the someone's post to him

his own two values reflect different things...

but first basic counting...
he scored 19 singles and NOT 22
he had 27 scoring shots and NOT 22

(my 4 years old son can count better)
scorecard reflects that malik scored 49 in 47 balls...but your table showed (25+27=52)

so why blaming malik for the difference...?

next time you must pay me the tuition

"nalaik bhanday" this is the third time in last two years i corrected this very same blunder

what about 22 scoring shot? was that also a typo?

25 dot balls, was that also a typo? was that also a typo?

prove me that you understood the lesson...so tell us how many dot balls, again?

no typo this time, ok?

p.s. you edited your post...still several mistakes present in that post
shouldn't you mention somewhere that you corrected your mistake?

you wont get this from statguru, you need to know the counting, and basic match like plus minus...(single digit) i hope you can do basic arithmetics

While I respect your right to point out other's mistakes, why not so hyper about wides being counted against batsmen (your own comment(?

I am waiting....

how many scoring shots?

how many dot balls?

tragic fact: you presented three values:
Number of Singles
Number of Dots
Number of Scoring shots

all three incorrect

:lol

in fact neither wides nor no balls count against batman...
I was making fun of him...the chart he showed reflects something different...
and interesting thing is that I explained him twice in last two years...

if you check that chart, there is 9 against Bernard for 0Run...

3.1 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, no run, pushed to off side
3.2 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, back off length delivery, fends to off side and scampered for a quick single
3.6 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 1 wide, down the leg and called wide
3.6Bernard to Shoaib Malik, no run, solid confident push to mid-off

7.1 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 1 leg bye, angled in and rapped on his thigh
7.4 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, no run, good delivery, cramped him for room and gets high on his thigh

7.5 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, length delivery and dabs to third man

10.1 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 1 wide, wide on off stump
10.1 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, no run, on off stump and under edged to the keeper
10.2 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, no run, its keeping a bit low, play and a miss again

10.3 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, angled in and dabs to short third man region for a quick single
10.5 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, 2 runs, drives to extra cover for a couple
10.6 Bernard to Shoaib Malik, no run, played back to the bowler

I have bolded those 9 balls..and you can see wides and legbyes balls...

however, even with clear explanation, you both were failed to understand (he called me idiot and you also raised objection)...but I am cool with it..as I understand you that you cannot understand...

Actually I am also at fault, as I jumped in without knowing the full history of your conversation.. but I only inferred that wides are not counted against batsman..

Its ok as I mentioned that I am cool with it...

- today, he presented "that" chart
where he wrote that Malik played 25 dot balls...
- I posted that "Children now blaming batsman for wides and legbyes"

I thought that my post should have been more than enough...for him to realize...

Should legbye not be counted as a dot ball for the batsman ?

Should legbye not be counted as a dot ball for the batsman ?

This is debatable...and messy

is this count for bowler?

few options:
- Discard the leg bye rule (team should not be allowed to run) (obviously bowlers would prefer this)
- call it wide, if its going down the leg side (some bowlers tries to target legs, this is to discourage that)

- count the run for batsman, as its touched the batsman, unlike wide or by

but above is irrelevant, as objection was that Malik wasted team's balls...
so even stealing byes, malik contributed towards team's total...those balls were not wasted, instead run was scored on those balls.

What is the current rule ?

If a batsman plays 1 ball and doesn't hit with bat, but ball hits his leg and he runs a single..

Will the batsman's scoreboard not say 0 (1b) ? or will it say 0(0b) ?

previously you asked ..."Should legbye not be counted as a dot ball for the batsman ?"
so I presented my opinion.

simple answer of your "latest" query is 0(1) {note: 1b = one bye}
(I am ignoring the possibility of no ball though)

Malik faced 5 balls which were declared wides (on one, he ran and team earned 3 wides)

P.S. Please confirm that you do not have another q to ask.

I am asking what will be mentioned as the number of balls batsman faced ? What will be his S/R ?

If you don't want to answer, don't ask counter question which are irrelevant.

I already answered...however i can't think on your behalf...

it was also relevant, I wanted to know the special place...for my research on the evolution of human mind.

I am asking again .. was it a typo from you to post 1 bye or did you really mean 1b = 1 bye ?

Replying again:

you wrote 0(1b)...there is no such thing (as far as I know)

closet thing to 1b that I could find in scorecard ...was in extras (b7, lb3, nb 4)

Note: I might have to cancel my account soon, so let me know if you understood now?

and tell me where are you from?

No.. there is some misunderstanding.. I only was talking about number of balls.. there was no "bye" in my question..

IF you can read it again, (I hope you are from a place where reading comprehension is taught).. you will get it.. there was no mention of bye..

Anyway, if my post wasn't clear.. that's why I asked if you misunderstood my question, if you did, I will clarify.. no need to get offended.

I am clarifying it again.. by 1b, I meant 1 ball.. sorry if it wasn't clear earlier.

1) I was not offended...(there is no rational reason for this)
2) Yes, your post was flawed
3) Still, I answered your question.

That means his scorecard will say 0(1 ball) .. so even if it is a legbye, it will be counted as a dot ball against the batsman.. that's the simple point I wanted to make.

thats a point?

really?

ok...and thanks for changing 0(1b) to 0(1 ball) though syntax is still incorrect....

0(1) is sufficient.

0(1) could create confusion and hence specifically mentioned 1ball for those who had reading comprehension problem and look for literal things only , and are sensitive about syntax.

I think I was replying to that first post of yours (highlighted one).. its not childish to blame the batsman for legbyes.. as the ball will be counted as a dot ball.. hence I gave the example.. that batsman's scoreboard will read 0 runs scored of 1 ball faced (syntax was wrong)

You can read your post again..
