Plan has flaws. The pitch is supporting fast bowling not spinning. Spinners wont be effective except maybe Ajmal. Its a fast bowling pitch so we should have more attacking with our quicks.

You're half-right.

The pitches in South Africa help the fast bowlers while the ball is hard, for the first 18-20 overs.

After that it is a hard slog until the second new ball, because there is little reverse swing (see my thread about Johannesburg's conditions) and little deviation off the pitch.

So overs 20-80 consist of the quick bowlers sticking to a very tight line and length and trying to tempt the batsmen into poor shots. But you don't blast people out with pace at Johannesburg after the first hour with the new ball.

Adil or Irfan's bounce will be a virtue from overs 20-80, but their lack of pace won't matter at all so long as they are very, very strict in their line and length.

Rahat Ali should have been there for Irfan, not Ehsan Adil.

Selectors just wanted to please people because Irfan has performed against India, but that was Limited Overs. Irfan should not play the longer format because he is 30 years old and we want the maximum out of him, ie playing him in the shorter formats and not putting too much strain on his body.

Besides, Rahat Ali is a much better Test Bowler compared to Irfan.

Yeah the only problem is the COMMENTARY..... N o talking on balling but on chotay bachay and a guy getting his kids a drink while adil and rehmans bowls.

Thtas because Misbah was captaining stupidly, Sarfaraz dropped catches, and alot of the runs he gave were edges. Plus it is a must to give debutants a long run to perform like Ausseies and Saffers do.

For example: Dean Elgar scored two ducks on debut, but when given another chance he scored a century.
