A tense end to Day 1 with Pakistan holding on at 17/2, still 245 runs behind South Africa's 1st innings total of 262 are all great ingredients for an exciting Day 2 of the 3rd Test.

12 wickets fell yesterday so this match is moving on very fast.

Imam-ul-Haq has a chance to prove his detractors wrong and Mohammad Abbas could frustrate the hosts if he hangs around. But the Pakistan batsmen have another chance to redeem themselves and it would be great if we are in the lead by the end of Day 2.

Need to be batting at the end of the day. Can we bat 100 overs.
Need abbas and imam to hang in there early to give us a good start to the day. Things should get easy for batting. I don't want to see shadab and faheem until after the 50 over mark at the earliest!!

^and everybody has a role to play here. Amir and Hasan even should try to be nuisances on this wicket at the back end of the day if they be sensible and value there wicket, and we have kept the 4 man attack out there for long enough

that back end of the day may come right after the lunch break :D

I will be happy if the two glorified tailenders/fake all-rounders can contribute 50 runs collectively.

If S Africa win this match by today before tea may be it will be another blessing in disguise. Inzi, Imam, Sarfraz, Shafiq and Azhar may be booted out.

How long do you think IK will persist with Inzi and Mani? What will be Micky's future or will he be replaced by D grade Bollywood hero?

I think the only immediate reaction would be Sarfraz getting axed as captain. Mickey is probably on borrowed time to, and will most definitely leave after the inevitable humiliation in the World Cup.

Mani and Inzamam will stay put to oversee the new management.

So both Mani and Inzi irreplaceable?

Yesterday was shared by Pakistan and Mamoon.
If we lose this test then for sure Sarfraz will lose test captaincy only, though Inzi deserves a lot of criticism for not selecting some in form promising players.

Also PCB still looks same under IK, apart from Wasim Khan all crooks and bias people are running the show. Selection procedure still lack of any transparency.

The signs were clear when our new Chief appointed a committee headed by Mohsin Khan. That clearly showed how out of depth and out of touch he is.

Wasim Khan is very competent, but he has his work cut out. There are far too many leeches in the PCB and a serious dearth of quality cricketers.

Mani and Inzamam are replaceable but the axe is not going to fall on them, at least not yet.

Rameez has nothing to offer as an analyst. How I would have liked Bazid in the commentary box along with the others.

On the other hand Abbas playing Steyn reminds me of Hafeez.

Khuda ka khauf karo yaar, Mani just took over :))

What is the job of Mani if he does not stop Inzi for mediocre players get selected again and again.

Mani should have power to stop CS some selection blunders at least. After every tour CS has to give report about his selection, what went wrong and what he will do next time to amend our cricket's show. Problem is Inzi thinks as a tyrant king so he does not answer after our teams' pathetic performance.

As a matter of principle the chairman should have nothing to do with selection. Chairmen interference in selection matters has only ever created problems. It's like saying the CEO of an engineering firm should be checking the designs and making sure structurally suspect designs aren't getting through to prototyping. The man has neither the knowledge or expertise to do that sort of job, instead of decreasing the blunders will increase. That is why you hire experts to do the job, if said experts aren't doing the job well you deal with them instead of taking over their jobs.

Shame on some of our so called batsman.Even Abbas is outscoring them. And for God's sake Imam atleast rotate strike.

Abbas always fights out Imam needs to do justice to his temeraments and fighting qualities that he has displayed in his short caterer.

KP:"How costly is that going to be?"

Not much really. I reckon Imam won't pass 30 this innings

Steyn is bowling beautifully here. If there were any doubts on his fitness, they are gone.

Imam will be out soon giving slips catching practice

Abbas is putting a lot of batsmen to shame. At least he's out there putting a price on his wicket and trying to do a job. Can't be said about most of the Pakistani batsmen.

Fully agree!!!!! Since our team is performing so badly because of selection blunders again and again he should sack him and try to find some promising, hard working, passionate and honest young ex-player as CS position.

Imam has missed and edged same amount of deliveries as Abbas ...Goes to show the pathetic technique from an opener..

Imam's technique is really poor honestly. Not balanced at the crease, head falls over, plants foot across which makes him suspect to lbw and poor judgement of his off stump

Pakistan 7 runs away from improving on their first innings here 5 years ago.

Imam has confused me the most.Looks poor with technique but his determination is admirable

In the 2 matches they have played together I think Abbas has contributed more with the bat than Azhar Ali

Man Steyn is getting back to his best swinging at 145 clicks 😇😇😇

Man I really hope Steyn doesn't injure himself. RSA have won the series, it's best to take him off the attack now and leave the rest to Rabada, Olivier and Philander. They should be enough for Pakistan. Don't risk injuring Steyn over Pakistani batsmen who fall like a pack of cards anyway.
