Really good bowling effort by a Rabada-less South Africa. Harmer showed his class and wealth of experience once again, just like he did in Pakistan.

Harmer is simply unplayable now i understood why he was so good in pakistan same in india any runs for south africa even 150 he will run through india.

Just saw what kind of pitch they are playing cricket on. Only in cricket this is acceptable lol.
Just give India a free pass to wtc final maybe then they’ll produce decent wickets. Just like how bcci icc spoon feed them in icc tournaments these days.

I can see some Clown are crying about pitch but forget GOAT fast bowler have taken 5 wickets in 1st innings, not any spinners 🤡🤡🤡 :klopp :kp

Actually 11 wickets seamers in this test so far. 8 for spinners. Pacers have better strike rate/average than spinners here. These are not industrian fan pitch. Just that curator did not water before the match. So there is no moisture and didn't dry gradually.

Lol

Update

Shubman Gill has a neck spasm and is being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
What a timid coward lmao

You have people with broken arms, jaws, foot injury and concussion playing.

He will never be a great player.

I hope we kick him out of LoI too

He is not fit for t20 or even odi.

Just play him in tests max.

South Africa are 93-7 at the end of day 2, effectively 63-7.

Ball isn't turning square, Bavuma has batted patiently has managed to score unbeaten 29.

South African batsman have thrown their wickets away.

If a match is ending in 7-8 sessions, it's not a good pitch. Doesn't matter if you are using industrial fans or turning it into a greenhouse.

ICC sleeping yet again.. I am sure
It’s actually a decent pitch

Abrasive surface

Something for spinners
Actually a fair bit
Some for pace

If u have skills you can do well

It’s a skill issue
Not a pitch issue.

Sorry not sorry to both teams

This is fantastic cricket. Close game. Could go either way.

Neck spasm means it'll be difficult to turn his head, right? Then how he supposed to play? Lagan type?

Terrible pitch. Didn’t learned from NZ loss. Variable bounce is seen from first hour of play.

These type of pitches increase the chance of opposition winning actually.

did'nt see much 'spoon' and 'feed' in the Asia cup ...but lots of 'learn'....was it because it was an ACC tournament not core ICC? :)

or like the great man said the reality is totally different and 'It's all over social media" :mw1 :salute

ANy wicket Bumrah took cannot be attributed to Pitch. It is raw skill. India did not even bowl that well bar Kuldeep. They had opportunity to amass 300 plus total in the first dig. They won the all important toss. As far as India's collapse goes India lost their batsman to injury. Also Gambhir did not exactly load the side with specialist batsmen. 4 all rounders 3 keepers. Not many specialist batsmen.

Another dodgy Indian home pitch

And these guys criticise pakistan pitches pak never had pitches like this shameful pitch where ball is keeping so low dust is puffing around
Such pitches are not an advantage to india and actually helps the opposition. This is why we lost the NZ series.

India has a very strong all round test team and is more likely to win on good pitches. These pitches become a toss lottery and takes skills out of the picture.

No Indians fans are happy with such pitches.

Gambhir's fetish for all rounders across the formats is not a sustainable approach. Sundar for the first time in his career bats at 3. Bowled grand total of 1 over. They could have gone with actual specialist batsman if that is what they are going to use him for.

Raw skill like chucking? :inti
Hyperextension will never be chucking no matter how many jealous people cry.

It's impossible to chuck with hyperextension (an elbow cannot bend backwards, then straighten, then bend forwards and then straighten again in the same action).

Yea. Eden Gardens is hosting a game after 6 years. Should have watered the pitch before the match. Not watering made sure pitch cracked sooner than it should have. India's batting line up was poor for this test. Lots of all rounders.

This pitch is worse than Mirpur. Will ICC give demerit points to this venue? :inti
It’s a brilliant pitch

You just need to apply yourself

Skill issue for both teams.

Something in it for all.

But yea this can backfire for India too

Less abrasive next time will be good.

Yeah skill issue....put peak yk and sanga on this pitch and they can score hundreds and took this harmer to cleaners.....

If Bumrah has not taken wickets upfront, match could have been a lot more interesting and well balanced. Rabada is not in the same class but a big miss for SA.

It's a shame you follow cricket many years but still don't understand what is chucking..
It is way over their head in general. Bio mechanics is like quantum physics for them. Waste of time explaining to them. You can see from their team achieved nothing compared to small island like Srilanka.

Desh ke liye jaan bhi deni pade to deni chahiye, Gill comes across as a selfish and self-centered guy who stole Samson's spot in T20I. Playing non stop since June has taken its toll on this flat track bully.

No batsman has gone past 39 from both teams. It's a lottery pitch. India barely got a 30 run lead and now they are on the cusp of winning the test match. Nobody is saying that the bowlers did not bowl well but let's be honest, the deck was always stacked against the batsmen..pun intended

Skill issue
Not pitch issue.

Maybe both teams should learn how to play spin
Well both things can be true. Skill is definitely questionable but a pitch with this kind of low-bounce cannot be considered a balanced pitch either

India South Africa series whether they are in South Africa or India almost always one atleast pitch like this where batting is basically a shootout. Last series they played, the Cape Town pitch was one of the worst pitches for batting I have seen in recent times. Similarly 2015 series in India and 2018 series in South Africa also had some terrible pitches. Nagpur 2015 and Jo'burg 2018 both come to mind. Compared to those pitches this pitch is nothing, but still it's a very bowling-friendly pitch.

They were sitting comfortably at one point with 57/0 in 10 overs. Bowled a couple of pearlers. Axar was still leaking runs. Siraj was leaking runs.

Rabada has an awful record in India

But yea he’s a class bowler

Up there with bumrah from this era. Slightly under. Only competition really.

Big miss I would say was senthuran

But India too dint play a proper 3 and imo should have swapped jurel to 3
Moved sundar to 7.

Sanga no. He sucks vs any top side
Overrated trash

Yk yes he would smash teams on abrasive surface. His issue was more vs bounce.
Yk is one of player in history of test cricket which one set opposition have to pay......too bad his peak was wasted due to politics.......
.

South Africa have had every sort of tricky pitch thrown at them in Asia over the past few months.

They have coped quite well, regardless of the result here.

The demise of their cricket, particularly their test match cricket, due to quotas and financial reasons hasn't happened like we thought it would. Who knows if the position would have been titled a bit more favourably towards them if Rabada was available too.

India lost their captain. He probably won't bat again. Basically India plays with 10 players. As it is batting unit is light. So that is a massive loss.

Quotas don’t cause demise

They only won cause of quota

When they dint have quota

THEY NEVER WON CRAP
