What's new

South Africa beat New Zealand by 204 runs in the 2nd Test

I think we can win the test series in NZ. Amir is a green track bully. If the tracks are green he'll actually perform.

street cricketer Yes B Mac retiring has taken a lot of aura from their team. on flat tracks or even when the ball isnt swinging Southee and Boult should be easy for our bats. But you give them a green track and they will run through us. They normally make day one green tops that then die and turn into phattas. So it will depend on the toss

I actually think I've probably overestimated NZ. McCullum's departure is clearly telling. B'Mac clearly added an extra spunk to their team and inspired them with his aggressive captaincy. The India-NZ series was heading towards a draw before McCullum decided to play that extraordinary innings to draw the game for his team thereby clinching a series win.

Boult and Southee look jaded and a shadow of their past. They look a bit "soft" lately looking potent only when there is something in the pitch and becoming toothless when the grass dries out. I wouldn't be surprised if Pakistan managed to even win the series there.
McCullums batting is being overlooked, he was world class for us with the bat for a period of 2 years and played crucial knocks for us. Without him, our batting is very weak. It's either KW and Taylor fire (Watling to a less extent), or we're chasing the game. It feels like the others never contribute. Boult and Southee aren't as good as they use to be too. Although Boult has been looking much better of late.

Can NZ save this game?

They are still the same just came across Aussie FTB's on some flat tracks

Guptill :)))

God our openers are terrible.

KW and Taylor have effectively opened for us this entire series.

If we lose KW, we might as well not even bother touring India.

Forfeit the 4 Tests and save face.

You forgot to tag someone? street cricketer :P

Steyn is going to finish with ridiculous figures.

45 all out looking danger.

This track is doing all sorts after looking very flat first day or so. KW goes as well now top grab from QDK. New ball looks unplayable.

That doesnt read right!

What a joy it is to watch Steyn bowl like this.

Where I can watch online? - He is absolutely joy to watch. England was lucky in last series.

Guptill is NZ Hafeez, Styen exposed one more hack this series.

When you have Dale Steyn in your team, all you have to worry about is the batting.

Apparently, in the CPL, Steyn told Guptil that he can't wait for when he will come to SA for the Tests and seeing his demolition we now know why.

Woke up, saw score, went back to sleep.

Disgusting.
We're back to being minnows in Tests, we'd struggle to beat WI and Bangladesh.

I hope the selectors realise now we're not in a position to leave out players.

Guptill didn't disappoint leather..

If I really write what I feel about Guptill right now, I will be banned and I almost don't care. Almost. But not quite.

So I am just gonna swallow my anger and kick a cat in the neighborhood because I am a bad guy.

Have you been watching the matches in NZ? Maybe you haven't. Can't expect PPers to watch cricket these days. NZ pitches are FLAT. Our Lord and Savior Guptill scores runs there. It disgusts me but that's what it is.

Guptill will struggle against any decent attack. But it's pointless, there is zero chance he gets selected again.

The archetypical New Zealand track is a lush greentop where the ball moves around until about tea of the first day and becomes a road from the 2nd day onwards. Winning the toss is crucial to winning a match there. Poor Kiwis had to bat first twice in their home series vs Australia.

At least Kevin Owens won the Universal Title. With Gene Wilder passing away and NZ batsmen peeing away their careers, this is turning out to be a bad day.

But I thought he was over. Finished. Over the hill.

Oh wait are you telling me PPers got something wrong? How is that possible?

There were a few that were spreading this disingenuous message but that has now been all but squashed.

Hope to see Guptil in the Pakistan Tests though, quality player.

The pitch has broken up worse then any sub content wicket I've seen for years. The ball that got ross taylor pitched on good length and hit a crack and then carried on at ankle height hitting him on the pads.

On a side note, No one balls a better outswinger to a right hander then Steyn in world cricket.

Absolute treat to watch.

If you see him there, i hope your bowlers have the decency to dismiss him cheaply every time.

I will come back to the toss - why on earth did they bowl first ??

Steyn trundling according to cricinfo speed.

Bowls one at 124 kph.

Watling, again.. Hope he continues this, and takes this match to next day.

steyn ,rabada, philander setting the record straight, for those who believed pakistan has the best bowling attack in test cricket. simply no comparison atm

Generally speaking Steyn likes to up his game and increase his speed near the end of the day. Then again, he hasn't played in a long while.

This game was lost at toss. Off season, sluggish wicket, which produced 288/3 in Day 1 & 426/5 by mid of Day 2. Since then, it's 214, 131/7 & 100/5 (7/4). So, not sure what was in thinks tanks mind.

Going by SAF 2nd innings, I don't think they would have been in a better position, had they were to bat 2nd here.
