What's new

South Africa need 243 runs to win the 2nd Test against Pakistan after ending Day 4 on 127/1

154.5 kph from Shaheen! Thats some real pace.

Shaheen has been as quick as Nortje in this series and miles quicker than Rabada.

It's so weird that we constantly touted Naseem as our "express pace guy" when he wasn't even consistently 140+ and bowled 145+ maybe twice in a match, when we had Shaheen right there next to him who can bowl 140+ consistently and hit 145+ consistently whenever he feels like it
Go watch the home series last year. He was averaging 140 kph and maxing at 147.
Just because you missed it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Did he really bowl 96 mph?

He’s clearly not capable of that kind of pace , must be a speed gun error ..

My own view is only fast bowlers who can bowl 6 deliveries in an over at 90mph range are capable of getting the odd ball over 95mph.

Shoaib, Lee, Bond, Sami, Flintoff, Steyn were examples of such express pace in the post widespread speed gun era - and Waqar and Donald come to mind in 1990s era.

Otherwise somewhere I’ve read even Javagal Srinath clocked at 97mph , but I can never recall him getting anything more than 90mph on an occasional effort ball once or twice in a 10 over spell and that too at places like Perth and Durban , in the middle of a rare quick spell when he was really bending his back.

Shaheen has hit 150 a few times in T20 and ODI.

They should try some German or Japanese branded speed guns for domestic T20s , I’m sure they will be much more accurate and less prone to such glitches/errors as the current models.

Guys wake up! Wake up!

West Indies just chased 390 odd against Bangladesh on day 5! This could be us also!!!

Which Pakistani Wicketkeeper has the higher number of dismissals in ODI cricket?

That's an easy one. It's Moin Khan

I already said this would be close...pitch ia flat as a pancake their run rate is extremly high..i think we need to dry up the runs as i dont care about a draw but want to win the series

Right back to this game, lack of wickets upfront yet again is concerning.

Feel it's all down to Yasir again.

It will be quite shameful if we manage to lose this to a dysfunctional South African side

We will win this game. But if we perform like this against England,Australia, and NZ at home we will lose the series. Individuals, the tail scoring, and poor cricket from South Africa have helped us a lot.

Poor pathetic bowling by Hassan Ali. Good that he's out of the attack right now, needs to really think about how to bowl. SAF aren't braindead that they're gonna deadbat this session, the more runs they get now, the easier the chase will become.

The pitch has nothing in it, Shaheen's spells will be important here.

Yasir needs to stop bowling filth and start applying pressure. Nauman needs to take a wicket now, preferably Markram.

Nauman has looked average today especially since Markram is attacking spin.

QDK will be the real dangerman for us, he can tear our spinners apart if he attacks the way he did yesterday.

Oddly, this is giving me Old Trafford vibes.

Worrying times.indeed and if i was a southafrican i would be very disappointed not to chase this

Like the 2nd innings in Karachi, I expect there to be a procession once this partnership is broken.

Pitch not a minefield by any means though.

One thing for sure, we cannot keep letting teams off to flyers and expect our spinners/reverse swing to always pull things back.

Really need to have them 4-5 down by close today. Its getting worrying especially at the rate and ease they are scoring at

The crowd looks to be getting behind the team now. I can hear them cheering loudly all of a sudden

I have that OT feeling. This is could be shattering defeat, the wicket looks flat.

The wicket is flat, even historically, Pindi has been a wicket where pacers are rewarded. When you dry out the wicket, you remove everything for the pacers. Right now, if you see, the wicket lost the shine only after the Lunch session, meaning that it won't spin much.

The people who were saying that this wicket is gonna spin like in Karachi did not look at the history of Pindi, and the fact that the hard plates rarely give way during the course of the 5 days.

Get the Multan Stadium renovated and ready for test cricket, because that wicket is pretty decent for spin as well.

Should look to keep Pindi aside for ODI cricket mostly, the Gaddafi in Lahore is perfect for T20I. Multan and Karachi should be test venues, and Pindi should only be used against weaker teams like SL, BD who don't have good pace bowlers.

Pindi defies traditional subcontinent pitches, it's quite unique actually. You'd expect a traditional subcontinent pitch to break after maybe 3 days and spin well, right now even Yasir isn't getting any turn like he was in Karachi.

Iv been really disappointed with hasan Ali other than 1st innings he hasnt really delivered... Been very poor with no consistency

Hassan Bhai went for 7RPO.

Could have really gotten another 5fer if he bowled intelligently, because he could easily get two top order wickets and then clean up the tail.

Poor bowling from Yasir, just poor stuff really.

You have catches nearby, but are bowling the 9th stump line.

Hasan is poor.he batted v poor aswell. But cos of his 5fer i guess he will.stay in the team now

The ball is newish. Spinners probably came earlier than expected. Day 5 can still be interesting. It won't still be easy for the saffers.

Need spinners to maintain pressure from both ends.

Too many looseners being bowled here.

That's the thing, Yasir and Hasan in the same team is very costly on the run rate

True.

One would expect Yasir to demonstrate more control on these subcontinent wickets. SAF have picked him out brilliantly in this test match, will need something new to get a wicket.

Maybe set them up for the googly or try to rip one past the bat.

Also think Faheem should be brought into the attack, could do the holding job and possibly pick up a wicket.
