SA getting murdered in their own backyard. A very rare sight this. Johnson makes Steyn,Philander,Siddle,Harris,Morkel all look like trundlers. The best Aussie quick i've seen apart from Mcgrath.

This season is probably the best season I have seen from any bowler ever

Relativelty similar conditions.

I still think South Africa are a better team- mainly because I suspect Australia's batting needs favourable conditions.

But we match up well against your guys.

To an extent, but the brand of cricket is also very similar. Always going hard at the opposition.

Yeah. I think we're more aggressive but Australia, South Africa and (New Zealand when they can) play in a similar style

I love SA vs aus series not just because they both play the same way but because unlike a few teams we won't mention they don't suddenly sook about the intense nature of the contest when they start losing.

Yeah. The Saffers give as good as they get.

I think Ponting mentioned that the Saffers were one of the teams the Australians always met up with after the series for drinks.

This is what that happens if you drop some one like Warner repeatedly. He, like Sehwag cannot be kept quiet and if you don't get these guys early, you are finished.

True that. Australia are at their best when they play hard, aggressive cricket. Sa tend to become defensive when things don't go according to plan imo like right now. Absolutely clueless.

I'm close to agreeing with this certainly.

Predicted a 1-0 Aussie win in January and it looks to be heading that way. They're back.

TBF, the situation was reversed in Perth in 2012 and the Aussies looked out of ideas then. These things happen, sometimes you have to accept that you were outplayed.

Big difference between Steyn, Philander and Morkel and Johnson (pre DK's technical changes), Starc and Hastings.

Can see a bit of vaughan in doolan, surely they can't dump him and bring watto back at 3?

We so badly need a 3 that can build a proper test innings, obviously this is only 1 test but doolan certainly looks like he is worth a longer look.

Well played Warner! Top knock!

Rode your luck early with two drop catches but 115... Well played.

So those 2 drop catches cost SA about 80-90 runs

It's quite interesting because both he and Marsh have reputations in shield cricket of not going on with starts.

Silk and North seem to be the only players in Shield who actually convert regularly.

what kind of catches did SA drop? Were they dollies? What was his score in each of those occasions?

First two drops were on 26 and 27.
Not really dollies but should have been taken by any first class cricketer.

They were tough chances but you'd expect them to be taken at this level. It was in the space of an over as well.

Australia would have been 40/2 had the catches been taken.

The SA fielding has been pretty poor all day tbh. Catches missed and lots of fumbles and misfields. Looking off colour here.

Not really loving this, matches between SA and Aus are going one way or the other, some one is making a mincemeat of the other, and not nail biting.

Aussies should look to shut the shop today , just keep wickets in tact.

You kidding here? With 450 lead and 7 wickets in hands, Aus has absolutely nothing to gain by shutting the shop.

Mitchell Johnson will be smiling up in the dressing room at that sight... a length ball hits a crack, jumps at Marsh and poings off the shoulder of the bat over gully.

:)

Not an easy pitch and its only going to get worse when SA come to bat again

Pressure will be on captain smith when he comes to bat again !

He needs to get some runs and get real big here !

Bat until lunch, they have more than enough and it's not going to be chased.

There is no way he will bat till lunch. Aus will probably try to bat for hour and so with run a ball. Clarke normally shoots for around 500 runs lead in these kind of situations.

Clarke is a better than 50/50 to declare overnight.

Another dominating day for Australia !

GS will find it hard to sleep tonight !
