I am sorry to say that you do not have basic understanding of how performance of Indian team is reviewed. No matter how well they play, ultimately it boils down to umpiring errors, pitch conditions, FTBs, bowlers unable to bowl fast.. I am just saving time for everyone here. Even when UDRS is implemented, people will moan that UDRS provider is on BCCI payroll.

BTW your 50-50 theory wasn't implemented in India/Sri lanka series. Those decisions went in Sri Lanka favour.

quit playing the victim card now, you've got the better of umpiring decisions so far on this tour. How hard is it to digest?

And for the last time, 50-50 calls remain with on-field umpires. So if an umpire had adjudged that lbw against India and it was only 'clipping', Indian appeal against that would go to waste. You really need to watch the on-going ashes test too, to get the hang of UDRS

I'm not sure what are saying there, but if you are referring to the two lbw decision of Durban test of Boucher & De Villiers. Then Yes, both would've been overturned if they had UDRS facility as the ball was clearly missing the stumps in both cases

yeah we got a few in our favour , but it wasnt as bad as some of them made it look ....there wer two which went against us as well & was never mentioned here . Making sure it dosent go unnoticed agian in this test :D

60-40 to SA currently. Another wicket and it would have been the other way round. Our bowlers could have done better today. Zak was slightly off the mark a bit and Bhajji was a little too defensive, both with his bowling and the field placements. Sree was down on pace but bowled within himself, Ishant was a bit wayward but when he got it right was causing trouble. Based on today's play, the pitch is slightly on the slower side, doesn't seem to have the same kind of pace or bounce as the earlier wickets but we will get to know the real nature of the wicket only when Steyn and Morkel bowl.

Amla's batting was quite good and Kallis was solid as a rock.

With the new ball due after 7 overs, it could be interesting. Anything over 350+ and SA will have a upper hand. Another gripping day ahead tomorrow.

in big trouble,India.SA will score 400_ as I cant see a collapse. then batting against Steyn n Morkel on this wicket will be damn tough. hope we can save this now. chances of win are almost gone

India is number 1 or not? Even if SA win this series, will India be no. 1? What is the absolute truth?
IMO, India being no. 1 is just a perception, converted to official status by a ranking system as a basis. It is at a very broad level, all science and numbers, most cricketers agreeing but a perception still.
For the folks who do not believe the number 1 status, it is their perception, but a perception even then.
and the twain shall never meet.

Right now, there are two teams playing some exceptional cricket and they have managed to upstage Australia and will soon be challenged by England. Nothing could be better than this. So enjoy the positives, while it lasts. There was and will be enough negatives to cry about when the decline happens.

well there has to be a no.1.nobody says India is a dominating no.1 like Oz of past. but we r defintely in top3 nations n have doing slightly better among them

^India will retain the no.1 rank even if they lose this test, the gap between 1st and 2nd will close down to 5 rating points thou

Farazaidi... while on ranking.. wondering what happens if SA lose the test and the series is drawn.

One more wicket and India will be into the tail.

Boucher is terribly out of form with the bat.

I felt India would win the last match but would be surprised to see a repeat here

This Ashwell POONCE, the guy has to be one of the most annoying batsmen to watch and impossible to get out at times.. I just dont get it he is a below avg bat but teams usually have trouble getting him out... Anyway I predict a 500 plus score from SA.

All depends on the new ball now. If we can't make it talk, we're rogered.

India is definitely no.1 really. What a pull back by India.

India might just go and win this test now. At the start of play, I thought the most they could hope for is a draw.

i wonder what smith will have to say about kallis not protecting steyn and morne from facing the new ball...will make an interesting read

Batting against Steyn and Morkel on this pitch, which is still offering lot of swing and seam, is not going to be easy.

300+ runs in the first innings is very good score on this pitch. Hope India will lose this test from here on.

Just woke up, but seems from the text commentary like Sreesanth's spell is worth another look later. After yesterday's stumps scoreline I thought India would fall out of contention today, but they have just about stayed in it. The batting should be interesting next up!

lost the initiative gained with the new ball. credit to harris and tsotsobe for sticking around. and well played kallis!

Important runs being added here. Need to warap it up quickly.

Kallis has been superb.

Don't you guys think that the big one up there has more important things to decide than Indian and Pakistani test matches? :D

You need to watch some sledging videos on youtube between Pakistani and Indian Cricketers :D

Match is evenly poised at the moment.

And I do agree with a point made on the thread, No matter how well India plays, some people always look for reasons to discount their performance, which is unfortunate since most of the time it is one particular day/match performance which is being discussed. Maybe its because of the historic rivalry between the two teams, I am not sure.

the pitch is much easier to bat today , day 2 and 3 should be the easiest as predicted..if we bat well , getting a lead is possible .

for all the stick Sreesanth gets....he bowled beautifully today.... Zaheer looks a little unfit and lazy? what happened? too much biryani? :P

Hi guys.Hows life.Hows the match going.Me predicting a loss for india from here unless sewag does something exceptional.

One of your guys needs to get a reasonably sized ton. 350 is a lot on the pitch, but if you can match their total or go past it, you'll be in with more than a sniff. The usual 30s and 40s won't be enough. Maybe it is time for :sachin to step up to the plate, he has a strong record at this ground.

104.2

Sreesanth to Kallis, FOUR, gentle bouncer at gentle pace - 116 kph - doesn't trouble Kallis even though there are two men back for the pull. He bisects deep square leg and fine leg for the first boundary of the session

:))

DHoni's captaincy in the last few overs has been a little disappoitning. Waiting for thinsg to happen and letting the game drift away. Allowing too many runs for the last wicket.
