I said at the time that the snorter he dismissed Kallis with in Durban was one of the best deliveries I've seen in test cricket, if not the best. It was absolutely unplayable in every way for any player. A bowler that is capable of doing this to Kallis is more than a little talented. Like you said, he is just woefully inconsistent - but I have reasonably high hopes for him. He's your second-best seamer.

After watching this series, I am beginning to think that English attack is the best at present followed by SA and Pak.

:hamster:

England's attack was good in 2010, no doubt about that. They all took a hatful of wickets at 20s, except Broad. But Sri Lanka and India will provide new challenges.

Time for Pujara to showcase his talent. The pitch is playing well so hopefully he will do well enough to cement his place. Either Sachin or Gambhir will have to hang around. I don't expect Laxman to perform because it is not a crisis situation.

wow, game seems very evenly balanced.

:sachin

bas kardey bhai!

I think thanks to Swann, Eng will fancy their chances against India and SL. Eng has a really balanced attack.

I dont like the kid but below is quite impressive for an Indian fast bowler:

Sreesanth's five-wicket haul was third in Tests and his second against South Africa. He has 27 wickets in six Tests in South Africa at an average of 25.62.

Sachin on the way to score his 51th Test Hundred . Even a draw in this series will be a good result for the Indians while a bad result for the Africans

It seems the tough words by Dhoni after the 2nd test did the trick for Srisanth. Like him or hate him, its impossible to deny that he has improved over the last few months.

say thanks to the umpire once again , nother decision in their favor. Thats why india dont want DRS

SRT gets a huge let off here. To be fair to Tony Hill, even Steyn didn't seem to have heard the nick and appealed half heartedly.

Lucky escape for Sachin.

And plenty of swing and movement off the pitch for Steyn and Morkel.

And SA didn't benefit in the last test?

Prince was out when he was in single digits. Besides Morkel was reprieved in his 2nd innings.

As for this instance, commentators said that SA hardly ever appealed. Not enough conviction which is a huge factor in umpires giving these.

Steyn was in his follow through you can't always catch everything
How the umpire did not see or hear that big edge just beats me.
And Sachin acted like his bat wasn't even near the ball.

Never the less, well deserved 50.
UDRS is needed ..

yah udrs is the answer for incompetence of umpires. umpiring level is falling,, apart from a few good umpires rests are making mistakes way too often.

Boucher probably didn't even catch that properly. Element of doubt there.

That was conveniently forgotton by quite a few there. But thats not new.

Now Kepler Wessels too is acknowledging that.

Very nervous start for Sachin and Gauti. Steyn and Morkel have been outstanding so far.

Subsequent replays suggest Boucher caught it on the bounce.

It looked pretty clean to me.
Would like to see that again, I don't think the umpire can just simply say no if it's an issue of catch taken.
He would either take the wicket keepers word for it or have it checked. Boucher claimed the catch.

Haha so Boucher catches that on the bounce and people expect Sach to walk. Well done.

BCCI has now bought over the cameramen :P

Whenever these kinda catches are referred, 3rd umpire rarely gives them. Always have an element of doubt.

yah the question is that , many wrong desicions could be avoided using technology. then why not use it specially when two top teams are playing?why should poor umpiring rot a good game

initially it looked out but now it seems that the ball bounced just before boucher..although umpire incompetence can still be debated as he certainly see didn't hear the nick...

NZ-Pak series has no UDRS. Oh wait, You said UDRS a must when top two teams are playing. So nevermind :P

LOl blame everything on DRS? That was a bump catch. Listen to the commentators.
Had Dhoni appealed for that, he'd have been branded a cheat. And if Pak was playing this test, Boucher would've met the same fate.

Now that its India, blame it on the absence of DRS. So convenient.

but this is great stuff..one of the best bowlers against one of the best batsmen...can't get any better...i think steyn is on his way to legendary status...if he cud keep this form & get to 400 wickets at an average of around 23, then he will end up as one of the legends...

Fair enough.

dont be an idiot...that boucher didnt catch it cleanly is not a justification for not using UDRS..that umpire didnt hear the nick is a justification for UDRS..

But anyway as long as india is on good end, why would it hurt u? will see a lot of indians crying when a decision goes against them?
Pretty rich coming from you.

You're yet to acknowledge that was a bump catch. Still sooking about DRS despite knowing that there are plenty of series taking place without it.

How many cries did you hear when Prince and Morkel were not given out on plumb LBW shouts in the last test? Anyways no point crying over split milk. I am all for UDRS.

Relax bhai. There was a smiley at the end. Enjoy the battle and the banter.

yah australia -england? pakistan played six matches in england and udrs used in each of them?what stops india , dont they want decisions to be fairer , i think both india and south africa are financially strong boards and can afford the DRS system easily.
I think most of us thought that it was caught and umpire seemed to have no knowledge of an edge, otherwise the catch claimed was worth a review.

CI

"Some fire near the stands adjacent to Indian dressing room area. Smoke. Some players get up and walk away. The crowd too disperse from that area"

Hope nothing serious.

Superb ball by Tsotsobe! SA are a thin edge away from a wicket here.

"The 170 run stand for the third wicket between Gambhir and Tendulkar is the highest for an away team in Tests in South Africa since 1990, surpassing the 168 run stand between Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara in 2000."

FTBs :)

Guys - less of insults pls - there is a limit to our patience in these matters
