How many times has a team lost the 1st test and come back to win the next two in a 3 match series? The only one I remember is the last time India toured SA, when they won the first one then lost the next to. Which other ones are there?

Don't know why there are two sets of standards for both the teams. If anything India should be applauded for hanging in there in conditions almost alien to them.

Even for this confirmed India hater, the Indian team has put up an excellent performance in this series. Cannot argue with their number 1 anymore. :(

Kallis' wicket is the key here. Get him and it'll probably set the cat amongst pigeons.

Pretty much Kallis wicket will decide the whole outcome of the series!

India on top here!

VVS run out in the first innings. COuld have been the difference between a 100+ lead or a 2 run lead which we finally got.

But overall yes, rub of the green has been primarily on our side since the 2nd test.

I would say Steyn hitting the stumps and wickets not flying is a lot more rare than the way LAxman was runout.

Yes India has had badluck as well, but overall like you said its been on India's side.

No need to fight, but everyone sees things thru the lens of their own team.

Zaheer has bowled a brilliant spell here. 8-1-18-1. Has beaten the bat so many times. On some other day, could have picked 3-4 wickets.

Now can Sree and Ishant step up the plate and do the job?

Gotta salute Kallis though. Despite being in such a pain, he is marching on for his team.

Gambhir got to learn something from him as he misses tests at the drop of a hat.

There are quite a few. Pakistan have done it against Zimbabwe.

South Africa did it against West indies a few years ago.

England have done it in Sri lanka early 2000

Sri lanka did it against pakistan in mid/late 90s was out 1st home series defeat in a long time as well...

there are quite alot!

That side strain to Kallis looks quite serious. Every time he has arched his back, he is in pain. Despite that what a knock he has played so far.

Series win here and not even the most patriotic Pakistan fan could argue with India being number 1 in the world game.

All of the sudden you have stopped laughing, you were laughing clear and loudly after the first Test but you have changed your tone quite drastically after the second Test.

SA's big weakness in Test cricket (as opposed to ODI where they are just epic chokers) is that they are not as strong at home as they should be. They always give you a chance with their wickets.

Back when we were good (lol) they had the better of us a couple of times in Australia and then lost to us at home.

This has been a really interesting series, credit to both sides. Lead 114 and a big partnership could change things but I tipped India at the start of this game and I think they will win. Not because I like them though.
They might be vulnerable to Aus and Eng at home but against everyone else they're nothing short of Aus at home. They're that impregnable certainly for us at least.

I think they are rotating the players a bit. Resting him and giving Murli Vijay a chance. Just saying he is injured in public.

it is not the first time he is in such position he will make thru it =)
Prince should take strike for 2-3 overs

I just don't think thats the case. You don't rotate your test players like that especially in a series as big as this series is. And its not as if Vijay is anywhere near Gambhir's class as test opener.

Even if India win this series, they need to win in Sri Lanka then they will be undisputed number one.

Ishant has made practically no contribution in this series so far. Time for him to stand up and turn around his bowling form.

Kallis looks in trouble, real trouble.

He should think of WC first which comes once every 4 years and an event his team has never ever won. While SA has beaten daylights out of Indian team in tests at home.

India will win in Australia this year with their eyes closed, Sri Lanka is still the fortress to be conquered.

Indian fans are talking bakwas [the lot of you!]

This match has only one result - an Indian victory! Indian batting line up will gobble up 200 in their sleep - its SA who have to work hard now.

Yeh chasing 200 on this pitch will be a walk in the park
*facepalm*

A series win in SA or a world cup victory - which one you want more?

Who said i stopped laughing? India got mauled in 1st test. They have started other series like this and got better.

I appreciate good cricket in general. I predicited a 1-1 series draw at start of it, thats unlikely but doesnt mean that i dont think India are a good side.

End of day any time India lose or get mauled il find it funny!

:)

Its a tough one but since we've won a WC before and have never won a test series in SA before I'd take the latter happily.

So think this way, longer Kallis continues better the chances of India winning the world cup :sachin
P.S. yes I too prefer SA test series victory over WC - marginally

BTW, where is saffer these days?

Another fair weather fan (troll)?

Just in case India loses 2-3 quick wickets in their 2nd innings see him popping out of his closet.

India against Australia in 2001/02 . Lost the first test at Mumbai then won the next two matches at Kolkata and Bangalore under captaincy of Ganguly

28 overs, 69 runs, 3 wickets in that session.

We now need to break this partnership quickly and try and somehow limit SA to around 175.

glad u liked the humor =)

I am off need to sleep going to work tomorrow

Give Kalis some pain killers=)

SA All the way

i post that smiley by mistake,

I thot 220 should be comfortably chased here & I stick by it . SA might set us a target 220-250

England won in new zealand 2-1 after losing 1st test in 2000s that another one that i remember.

i dont even think he is from SA

If you did that in first innings - you can score the same in second.

As I said before - No 1 tag is not given for fun! Earn it.

I am also not sure why people think SA will get to 250 lead - they are about 1 wicket away from total collapse.

Look at it from SA point of view, they must know that one bad shot could gift the series to India.

The pitch is doing a bit now, 4th innings pressure and all that
But I agree, them getting to 200 is another matter.

@usman_sheikh
Don't like Tayyab's but I'll be there for free food to make me feel better after the loss

we normally struggle to get the tail out , like we saw in in the first innings .

1.Nope.Difficult to score the same in second innings as pitch is deteriorating.
2. It was not given for fun and we earned it rightfully.

I think you misunderstand my statement.

What I mean is that one doesnt get that tag for nothing
