All the ppl calling Smith names dont know what the heck they are talking about, there is a Sehwag factor, yes he hasnt clicked this series but imagine if he does ??????/

This is just rubblish from Smith. There is no way India will get over 300 runs on this pitch. Come on Smith be a man and bowl

Lets see how much The Invincible Aunty will score tomorrow.

This match has become boring since Africans have turned a result oriented match into a Draw now. Indians are not a galli cricket unit which can be bowled out in 3 sessions. Way too optimistic from Smith . Atleast Kallis and Morkel should try getting some fast runs

Ishant what a BUST!!!!!!!!!! absolutely Zero input whatsoever, India practically played with 3 bowlers this whole match..

Come on Smith, please declare already. We Indians promise that Sehwag will play nice :P

SA have scored 327 of 100 overs , even if they declare now ..Inida will have only 10 overs less to achieve the same target ..which still gives them an outside chance . 20 more runs in 5 overs , the equation changes dramatically & will force India to to play for Draw ,which they are ensuring now

All upto Sehwag now, if he clicks India will go for it, otherwise Dravid will score his 20 off 190 balls and should draw the match for India.

India need 340 in 90 overs on the 5th day. SA need just 10 good deliveries to win.

All out . Now Indians should be the only one to win this test match provided Sehwag clicks , If he doesnt then Dravid should bore the saffies to submission in his right way and manage a draw

This should be a draw match; India need to survive just one day, and with their batting lineup, it should honestly not be a problem. Let Dravid defend his brains out.

Man, tomorrow is going to be INTENSE!

Honestly, I fear it will be the exact opposite. It's very difficult to score 341 in one day, even with Sehwag and Dhoni in the lineup. You will probably see India defend and play for the draw (which will hardly be intense).

this isnt fair south africa cud have got 12 balls just to get 10 wikets the umpires have robbed them of a victory on the 4th day :D

Correct. Silly why some people are hoping for a contest out of this dull draw

I'm very pessimistic about this one. 340 is too much. If we try to chase and win, we will lose. If we play for a draw, we will get a draw I think.

India will lose couple of quick wickets, then rest of their batsmen will play for draw. I think it'll all depend on the opening stand they get tomorrow.

India win this please, Smith just showed us he doesn't have the balls to lead the No 1 side, he doesn't have confidence in his bowlers, just like he did against Pak he did it here

I think it's time India get rid of Ishant Sharma and maybe give Umesh Yadav a chance. I'm tired of seeing Sharma's straight, swingless, and uninventive bowling. He has talent, but he does not know how to take wickets (unlike Zaheer Khan), and in Test cricket that is the most important factor for a bowler.

i think gambhir won't bat because of his hand injury

Yeah doubt he'll want to aggravate it just before the world cup.

The pitch hasn't played that badly so if Sehwag sticks around for an hour India have a chance. SA should've declared earlier; I doubt Sehwag would've been that cavalier with a makeshift opener (most likely to have been Pujara) alongside him.

if any team can chase this it India , but smith has given very little time for us .

90 overs @ ~4rpo is difficult ..hoping Steyn has one off day

this is more important than the WC , if not Kallis wudnt have come out to bat risking a serious injury ,

no disrespect but what is this talent that ur talking abt no pace no swing just runs up and hits the deck thats not talent thats mediocrity zac is the best fast bowler india has ever produced and kuble cums in a close second:wasim

By talent I mean he has a good action, good height, and in the past he has shown some good ability to swing. But yes you are right; at the moment he is purely mediocre at the most, which is why India need to drop him.

That's a Pakistani statement if I've ever seen one.

Graeme Smith is easily the best Captain on the International scene. What other Captain has beaten England in England, Australia in Australia and not lost to India in India? And to top it off, he has led from the front each and every time.

People who speak without knowledge should not post their 'opinions' especially when they can't back it with any sort of information. You have as much credibility in that statement as my ass when its shitting.

Not so sure... seems to me the Indians would care more about the World Cup than South Africa - it being at home and all that.

Hope they put test cricket first and he turns out to bat tomorrow but I'd be very surprised if that happened.

I thought the same about sreesanth once. We will never get someone like Asif or Steyn, so we might as well encourage some spinners. Ishant hasnt delivered when it mattered.

Yep, Smith is a heckuva cappo.

Disappointing last 90 minutes from India. 233/7, should not have allowed Steyn and Morkel to score those runs but we gave up too early.

Seamers were so disappointing. Absolutely no support for Bhajji from the other end. Ishant may finally have played his last test in a while, can't see him getting picked in the test team anytime soon. Disappoitned with Zak too. His 2nd and 3rd spells were quite flat. needed a better effort from the leader of the attack.

Should've declared, I think. The thought of Morkel and Steyn bowling opening to a lineup that's been toiling in the field all day was tempting. Having said that though, Smith probably noticed that India's bowlers couldn't get too much with the second new ball so decided to play it safe in case Sehwag decided to come back in to touch. Not to mention they'd have preferred getting Kallis checked out before bowling. Either way, the match is South Africa's to win.

where is praveen kumar ??? i honestly think he is ur best new ball bowler could have been usefull on south african tracks .... most say he isnt quick enough its not as if the rest r 95 mph beasts:akhtar

SA took too much time to get that!

You hit the nail on the head... Kallis can't bowl. Steyn and Morkel alone cannot bowl out Indian batting lineup. Look at the Indian first innings result and that was in face of the best bowling I have seen from SA.
The ball was doing a bit for seamers. Now its works for spinners but Harris doesn't inspire confidence.
Smith's decision is correct. The worst that can happen now is draw and the best would be a victory for his team.

The only way for this test to come alive is if Sehwag decides to play a decisive innings tomorrow. Can he do a another Chennai? Seems highly doubtful given his recent form. Hopefully Dravid and his heir apparent Pujara will help India manage a credible draw.

340 to win the series for India

Game On!!!

Should be an exciting and interesting day of Test Cricket which lies ahead tomorrow

I would say it is very much Game On!

Chances on winning here

SA=65%
India=35%

Sehwag will be key up front....

India will be kicking themselves after having SA in the position they did (likewise for SA in India first innings). As I see it, if SA fail to win this test....I think it is a huge victory for India. I think India already proved they deserved to be number one, but a failure to win the series for SA just means the gap between SA and India is much wider than everyone thinks.

ok and how did u cum to this ingenious conclusion south africa drew in india while even if india lose u still beleive they r deserving no 1 even though the saffers won their last series in australia while india lost down under :manzoor

His lack of speed is held against him, but deserves a chance especially given how fragile and inconsistent our other pacers have proved to be.

Intresting to see the mindset and approach of the two teams tomorrow, S.A have runs on the board. India have shewag who on his day can dictate the pace of the game.

If he get in they have a chance, if he goes early like he has done in the series then I dont think rest of Indias batting will score quick enough to get close to this total.

Hope we get a winner either way tomorrow.

Just read on cricinfo, Gambhir will bat in this innings. Though he is out of the ODI series. The list of injured players is getting bigger and bigger.

Doesn't augur too well for our WC chances.

Gotta say I was bit surprised by Smith's tactics. Its always tough to bat out last few overs before stumps, moreso if its the 4th innings of a decider.

SA could've gobbled up few cheap Indian wickets by stumps today in bargain for 30-40 extra runs they scored.

PS: They'll anyway gobble India up before tea time tomorrow.

And SA failed to win against Australia and England in their own backyard while Indian thrashed both Australia and England
Balanced now?

india lost to pakistan in pakistan while the saffers drew against them in abu dhabi so south africa still has the edge :D

S.A won in both england and Australia (away) or you forgetten that?

they aint no mugs!

yes, they are a formidable team. They will get to the No. 1 spot as they have a lot of self belief after this series. Provided Steyn and Kallis keep their form, they will be no. 1 by 2012. I guess we all know that India will go into reconstruction phase by about that time.

I think S.A do have belief but also have respect for India as a team.

You dont just dangle targets to oppostion when a series is 1-1 and number 1 spot is up for grabs. I can see why S.A had such approach today, they dont need to try and force a win and lose the match at the same time. Am sure any other team would have done the same in this situation.

After reading some more about Kallis' injury, I am in awe of his 2nd ton in this match. Extremely well played. India should rue defensive captaincy and none of the seamers making much of a contribution.

Hopefully Sehwag will take some inspiration from Kallis- in the first innings, only 2 of our main batsmen fired- Sachin and Gambhir. Two others (Dravid and Laxman) were run out unfortunately, and one (Pujara) got a once-in-a-match ball. Hopefully tomorrow 3 or 4 can fire and take us to tea with 100 to get and 6 wickets in hand. That will be a thriller, and mean that whatever the result is from there on, at least we fought hard and well, and the better team on the day edged it.

I don't believe that the official #1 ranking is up for grabs. No matter the result, India will keep that spot. The only way SA could have grabbed it would have been a clean sweep.

I think Harris will take at least two wickets tomorrow.

If Steyn takes out Sehwag and Morkel fires out Gambhir, India could well fold.

If anybody can chase this, India can.

Great test cricket. Well done both teams so far.
