Felt like the reverse first 90 mins was the key but it's just not there.

If we still need 6 when the new ball comes it's going to be too much i think, just hard to see where the wickets will come from in the next 20 overs.

Ah the beauty of Test cricket. Yesterday Smith had 9 fielders on the boundary then today Clarke has all the fielders around the bat.

I feel like they are trying a bit too hard to get a wicket, trying too many bowlers. Just be patient and bowl in the right areas.

Abott needs to stick around for another 20 overs atleast

Abbott :out

Castled by Patto first ball back swung back in

One more wicket and we're into the tail

I'm not sure why the Japie commentators keep saying that OZ thought they could just rock up and take the last 6 wickets easily. I don't think anyone thought it would be easy

Come on SA. Remember the Battle of Blood River. Get your ox-wagons in a circle!

HD Ackerman whingeing that the OZ keep bouncing the ball in lol

There's no rule that says we have to throw the ball in full HD

Supersport commentators are very bad, on the radio its better with peter kirsten, herschelle gibbs, andrew symonds.

Yea unfortunately I'm stuck with the Willow TV commentary. They've been decent most of the series I must admit and you always expect a bit of hometown bias so it's all good. But like I said no rule that says we have to throw the ball in on the full. Didn't see them (other than Warner) whingeing about it when SA did it in PE.

Need to threaten the stumps more with each delivery. Make them play

Put the spinners back on for 6 overs to bowl dobblies then bring the quicks back on

Yes and bouncing the ball in is like a double edged sword you can end up with a dead ball with no swing.

Exactly. I'm guessing that they are doing it because the ball is about to be changed anyway.

A two overs spell would've done no harm me thinks. Anyway hope he strikes with the red cherry

I reckon they should keep bowling Lyon and Smith/Clarke till about 2 overs before lunch and then put Jonno or Patto on.

2 more before lunch, and Lyon continues. Who'll bowl the last one? I guess Rhinno.

Lunch 5/122, 39 off 214 for ABCD, Faf 14 off 44. 354 more balls to block for SA

I hope the new ball gets taken right after lunch. Old ball doing SFA

we bowled more than the 15 per hour, shock when that happens nowdays.

Guess it's at least 2 wickets in the next 90 minutes or we are stuffed.

Well nobody had to run for anything since they were just blocking lol

New ball spell after lunch could be make or break, plenty more grafting for S.A to do here.

Goes to show how hard it is to get out good batsmen on a flat wicket if they just want to tuk tuk

Faf tries to pull a short ball from Jonno and Robin Jackman criticises him, apparently he shouldn't be trying to score runs

Looks like a lapse in concentration is most likely way a wicket will fall here if its to happen.

Against batsmen who don't want to score you really need to be precise with the bowling. Either bowl in a really nagging channel just outside offstump at a length that will make them play, hopefully with a bit of seam or swing movement, or try and inswing the ball into their pads, or try and bowl an unplayable bouncer. I'm not sure what other deliveries you could bowl without moving the ball. You have to move the ball because it's too easy for them to just leave everything.

SA comms emphasising that in the partnerships "it's the number of balls faced not the number of runs scored"

Fantastic from Rhino, that's what moving the ball does

Massive Rhino fan, once again he does the buisness for his team when its needed.

End of an epic innings by AB. Most versatile bat around. too bad he's gone now. AUS to wrap it up quickly

Hopefully the bottler can stick around with Fap until tea. Don't have much confidence in him doing so though.

Jonno's bowling a bit wide to Faf I reckon he might want to try bowling around the wicket or bowl more at the pads. I doubt Faf will try to flick those to the legside with catchers there

Better from Jonno but still a bit wide

Into the tail now so depends on wether they can support Faf and dig in here.

Down legside now from Jonno Faf doesn't bite

Well JP's not really tail lol. But if we can get rid of him or Faf I would back us to take the rest of them in the session and 3/4 left

Rhino has conceded 14 runs in the whole innings lol

I consider JP as a tailender currently hes a pretty average batsmen, yes i know hes starved off the Aussies before once to win a series but i think he will be knocked over very quickly.

Looking at the weather in Cape Town is depressing from up here on the highveld. We've been having miserable London weather since Saturday.

Well here in Boston it's -5 centigrade so be happy with your London weather :D

This is one of those rare Tests where the number of boundaries SA might score has absolutely no impact on the field settings.

Looking at Twatto's field looks like he's going to bowl very straight and slightly full at the stumps

Lyon's bowled 16 overs for 5 runs and 12 maidens. One of those Tests where runs is totally irrelevant both in bowling figures and batting figures in this 4th innings.

Lyon's figures 16 12 5 0 0.31 5 runs off of 16 overs :O. How do you stop yourself from coming down the wicket and putting one in the stands.

Bloody Garry needs to bowl better. Left hander with some rough just outside off he needs to be more threatening. Maidens won't help we need wickets
