Sri Lanka v India l 3rd Test l Colombo (PSS) | 08/08/08 to 12/08/08

India have done very well to get up to 249, furthermore, Ishant gets the vital first wicket for India. The first day belongs to Sri Lanka and India will have to bowl very well to restrict Sri Lanka under 249 and get a slender lead tomorrow.

You will do very well to restrict the deficit to under 150, Rickz, forget about getting a slender lead. This is a flat pitch and Sri Lanka have plenty of high quality batsmen in their line-up to take full toll. Ishant has bowled well, though, yes, even if the wicket itself was down more to the batsman's error. Anyways, even if Sri Lanka give you a small lead by batting badly, your tail starts the moment the first wicket falls (although your no.10 and no.11 are not so bad compared to the no.4, to be fair), so unless Sehwag can hit another big century, you will lose this Test and with it the series.

It is a flat pitch and India will fight hard tommorow to get some sort of a lead. Kumble and Harby will be very crucial.

LOL at the 3rd and 2nd line from the bottom. India's batsmen will give a better performance in the second innings I hope. Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly and the keeper are due.

I hope Dravid and Ganguly will play well in their last Test innings.

"Hope" being the operative word after five innings of complete humiliation for your middle-order :D

I'm confident they will. After all, it will be the fab 4's last test inning in Sri Lanka.

But you could extend that argument and say that the "fab 4" are playing their last series in Sri Lanka, and so they would have performed over the series - but it hasn't happened, has it?

No Motta, that is how reality will unfold over the next 2 days. I know you're finding it difficult to accept, but yet another innings defeat beckons for the "best team in the world"...

Yes I could. But for now, let us see what happens in the last innings of this match.

Who said India are the best team in the world? And another innings defeat beckons?

Dear God!

Mendis with ANOTHER 5 wicket haul, and Sri Lanka find ANOTHER pace bowler.

KTGD Prasad. Another long namer. Seems like a keeper. 3 top order wickets on debut. that's good stuff.

I think Vaas's time is up. He has been the weak link in this Sri Lankan attack and is just in the side based on his experience and reputation. I think he should hang up his boots now as his bowling is as good as finished. I dont think Murali has more than one or two years either. Its time for the Sri Lankans to focus on the likes of Prasad, Malinga, Fernando and Mendis to take over the responsibility of their bowling attack in the future.

the first innings is the key. if we can get the lankan fab4 cheaply like last time, then their morale will plummet lower than our FLAB4's.

Come on Ishant and Zak! We need you to roll over Sanga, Jaya and Dilshan. One down 3 to go

Last time you said that, Sri-Lanka lost the test match, Cars once again crashed and went to corner all by himself :)) .. It would be good to wait till the game is over and then go gaga, patience my friend, patience....

A Tornado has struck Vandort nevertheless!

Srilanka making the cardinal mistake of going into their shells. This kind of defensive stuff will make India dance all over their bodies.

No demons in the pitch. No demons in the bowling (as yet). The only demons are in the minds of Srilankan batsmen (and plenty of them as well). Sehwag way is the way to play.

... And Sanga obliges. See, this kind of batting makes the opposition panic.

Why the hell does he bring the pitching outside the line into it? What has that got to do with it when its not the legstump?

Seems a little confused today. Not that he is very clear-headed normally. But I like him. An amusing personality to have in the commentary panel. :)

Yeap thats seems fine....If India dont get a few wicket soon this game will slip away..

But Srilanka needs at least 400 on the board and that will take some doing. But yes, Vaas is proving to be frustrating. If the Lankans can be made to get bogged down (like in first innings at Galle), wickets will come in a heap.

Dravid has 176 career catches. Needs 6 more to become highest. Mark Waugh has the world records with 181.

Oh my god, hope not:

32.1 Kumble to Sangakkara, 1 run, dropped by Dravid at slip. He dived to his left but couldn't hold on. It was sliding away from Sangakkara who pushed hard at it and the ball flew fast and Dravid lunged to his left with a outstretched left hand but ...

Extremely negative stuff by India again. Come on Bhajji, be a bit more positive.

Tony Greig: "Its a ploy that Indians are obviously employing at the moment - a negative ploy mind you, because it relies on a bad shot."

Drops a catch in the process.
