Test cricket is killing the sport of cricket, sport is entertainement, and Test is not entertaining at all, it only goes down well with die hard established fans, it doesn't Increase popularity... but T20 does increase popularity unfortunetly that is the way forward.

that is because your understanding of the game of cricket is very limited...only in Test cricket can a team that was dominating the match for 3 days can lose it all in 2 hours

back to the current match, Thank God M & M have survived till lunch, Kulasekara looked like he was gonna knock over Misbah any minute

Another 16 for Alam. That number is becoming a bit of a curse for him.

Yeah.. The number 16 is becoming unlucky for him..He's played 4 innings and has got out on 16 thrice!!
Next time he bats, he should take 2 runs or hit a boundary when on 15.

if you read what i wrote.. im telling you more about how other's see it, and that test cricket is not entertaining and doesn't increase popularity.. maybe you understanding for english is limited?

nope, my understanding of English is excellent...exciting and competitive cricket, in any format is what brings new fans to the game of cricket, not T20 or ODIs...see the kind of response the 2005 Ashes series had in England

yeah and that is what i said, it is popular among previously established die hard fans like you said that understand the game and see it for what it is, but what im commenting on in general it is not entertaining and quite boring to anyone that is not a die hard fan.

poor example, you are refering to a iconic series.. what about test cricket in general played infront of empty stadiums and small amount of viewers on tv.

why do you think lately there has been talk about changes in test cricket... pink ball day/night cricket, four day cricket etc because they know it is dying format.

Considering we've just seen two fantastic Aus-Eng test matches, this statement is ridiculous.

none of those changes will ever happen...if Test cricket dies, then cricket dies

so because it refutes your point, it's a poor example?

you get lower attendances because quite obviously, it is hard to sell out a Test match over 5 whole days, people have to go to work you know

as for the lower TV viewership, not sure where you got that from

As i though pakistan producing yet another inept batting performance.

Misbah, Malik and Akmal pretty much in last chance saloon now and they need to perform!

Post lunch session has begun. 153/4

If we're still batting by the end of this session, S.L will have a tough target to chase

If anything, the 50 over game is a dying format. Does anybody really care about them? Less and less, I imagine.

damn, yousuf gone......he was our last hope. looking at current form of misbah-malik and akmal...we will be lucky if we gave a target of 250 atleast otherwise 200 looks the target for now if both Ms dont play sensible and take the responsibility and scores 100.

I think Malik should play agressively.....that is the only option we have if want to give Srilanka a Challenging target....

This is a crucial partnership. But Misbah is really starting to bore me too, it looks like hes playing for time.

Probably the worst batting lineup in history, one opener simply isn't good (manzoor) while other isn't an opener atall and batting at wrong slot. There are two guys who are either past their best or God knows what their problems are and are playing just for their own survival, and the tail is simply allergic to batting.
How can one expect Pak to put up a good total but depending on just Younis and Yousuf??

We have a middle order comprising of just 1 batsman Younis Khan......
Amazing team...

No Openers....
1 Middle order batsman......
Keeper who can't catch a ball....and can't bat.....
A long taill who can't bat...and even can't hold a bat when new ball is on..(tail includes malik and misbah..).......probably we have a world record of longest tail in the world at the moment....

39 more overs and then lankans get a new ball, time to score some runs before we collapse

These 2 look in no trouble at all.

They just need to be a bit more positive and get those runs on the board.

lol, I was thinking the same. Let's get to 250 before that happens.

39 overs we should be able to add another 45-50 runs

Finally some sensible batting, 2 days and 1 session left after this session, take your time and build a partnership.

these are the averages of our players for this series you guys can blame one or two player but the truth is our whole batting lineup kept failing
With the highest average of 54 for fawad even that is because of innings

Fawad Alam 2* 4 0 216 168 54.00 357 60.50 1 0 0 19 1
Mohammad Yousuf 3* 6 0 253 112 42.16 430 58.83 1 1 0 23 1
Shoaib Malik 3* 6 2 150 45 37.50 290 51.72 0 0 1 18 1
Khurram Manzoor 3* 6 0 153 93 25.50 373 41.01 0 1 0 14 0
Misbah-ul-Haq 3* 6 1 119 56 23.80 314 37.89 0 1 1 12 0
Younis Khan 3* 6 0 131 82 21.83 263 49.80 0 1 1 12 0
Salman Butt 1 2 0 28 28 14.00 54 51.85 0 0 1 4 0
Abdur Rauf 2 4 0 44 31 11.00 144 30.55 0 0 2 4 0
Kamran Akmal 3* 5 0 50 31 10.00 65 76.92 0 0 0 9 0

Malik at least looks like a batsman hes hitting the occasional boundary, Misbah's looked like a night watchman so far.

Misbah should hold one end and Malik should play his shots before new ball arrives.......

I dont mind them scoring slowly this is only the third day after all.
But against new balll which due after 38 overs they will not be able to even hold a bat.....and we are having the longest tail in the world

Misbah, BASH!

Herath doesn't look dangerous. If you charge on him like MoYo did for that one six, then he will be baked after a few overs.

The new ball is due after 25 overs. Even so it's madness to plan for something that's almost 2 hours away.

but considering our RR so far in this match.....they have to accelerate...otherwise we will only be able to score 50 odd runs in 35 remaining overs
