Realization by Malik and Misbah that new ball is coming......

Ha ha, yes, but they would be fools to think about the match 25 overs away.

Gotta work in 10's mate. 180 is the next target.

so true.....i even think for something smaller with Pakistan, not even for this series but whenever Pakistan bats.....in fact i try never to think of a target when Pakistan is batting.... i just want them to win and be thankful to ALLAH for every single run the Pakistan Get.....

25 overs till the new ball...they need to aim to get at least 75-80 runs without taking too many risks

Shakil_pkcricket said:
but considering our RR so far in this match.....they have to accelerate...otherwise we will only be able to score 50 odd runs in 35 remaining overs
Right. Accelerate in anticipation of the new ball (which is 25 overs away). Makes sense.

Unless of course we overdo it and end up all out before the new ball is available. What then?

200 up!!! We're in a great position
Relax.... brother....we have a tendency to collapse for 25 odd runs and losing 8 wickets......relax.....be patient..... Malik and Misbah needs to be there to face the second new ball....

Pakistans lead crosses 200 and very interestingly cricinfo points out that a target of over 200 has only been chased successfully once...just once in the history of the SSC ground.

well we lost Yousuf....only when we had a defensive period in the play (i.e. 5 maiden overs in a row)......Malik also looked good when attacking in the 1st innings...thats why they should be thinking positive bcz as soon as the lead crosses 250 all the presure will be on srilanka afterwards.....

200+ lead there for the taking? Can Pakistan accept that challenge?

Considering our current position - for a normal batting lineup - another 100 runs is a good assumption!

Both batsmen are well set now so am sure one of them will throw it away as per usual!

Positive thinking is one thing. Making a concerted effort to score as much as possible before the new ball (which is over 20 overs away) is just myopic.

These two are ''in''. They've spent time at the crease. Runs will naturally come easier.

Fortune favours the brave man....

Why is Ramiz giving credit to Saqlain and Murali for developing the doosra?

Misbah gets his 50. Good knock, probably will be enough to keep him in the team.

If Malik and Misbah had scored half of the runs they have scored in 3rd test in the first 2 tests we would have won this series 3-0.....now they are just scoring runs for themselves...we have lost a first away series in srilanka under Younis Khan.....Job accomplished Malik and Misbah.....

Malik and Misbah perform when they want to perform personally.....when team needs 30 odd runs from them they simply surrender......whats yr thoughts....

Ramis Raja on mathews before hes bowled a single delivery

1) Hes a great young talent for Srilanka
2) He should be given more of a role as a bowler
3) He doesn't have a lot of speed but he has a lot of heart
4) This pitch can be heart-breaking for most bowlers (already making excuses in case he doesnt do well)

Omg Ramiz pace yourself

I think Younis Khan is better than Angelo Mathews as a bowller... whats yr thoughts.....

Haven't seen him bowl enough but he bowled some beauties in this series.

We should be accelerating more considering our new ball play.....
Malik Misbah......get into T20 mode from now onwards.....
We have picked up nicely.

Last 10 ovs 47/0 RR 4.70

Btw, 18 more overs or so till new ball.

Lead is now 230

I have different thoughts though....you will see all the Media and Team Management (excl captain) will be praising Malik and Misbah all along with **** Cricket Fans if both score centuries in this innings and we possibly winning the 3rd test.... YK will be helpless as selectors (Bari the great) won't be dropping both of them from 15-man Test Squad saying that the only available best 15 player we have includes Malik and Misbah........
Yr thoughts are welcome.......

100 run partnership and a fantastic session which has tilted the game our way. Still plenty of work to be done though with a good 34 overs left in the day.

Good work by Misbah and Malik
but they have failed miserably when it mattered most (in the first 2 tests).

I have a fear that when our team will be touring Austraillia and NZ and if these two (Malik and Misbah) threw away their wickets their....we would not be far from Bangladesh in test cricket....continuing to loose from winning positions......

Will we fall to 2nd new ball again?

Pakistan have collapsed to the 2nd (or 3rd) new ball a couple of times. There are 16 overs to go after tea. Malik and Misbah are playing quite well. Will we fall like a pack of cards again or can we grind it out this time?

I dont think this match is meaningless, a win here would be much better than a whitewash.

great partnership between M & M, really looked like they were battling for their respective places in the side...let's hope they free up a bit in the 3rd session

Shakil_pkcricket.

Pakistan has played first test complete series after two and a half years. They were out of test format practice and so is the whole team. Pakistan batsmen were bound to struggle as they are playing first test series.

Calm Down! Pakistan just won WC T20. Celebrate while you can. Misbah and Malik will continue with this form to the positive level for the future tour of Test series.

Yet if they didnt prevent the collapse you would have crucified them - they really cant win either way

Im just glad they are finally scoring runs - i want us to win this match, dropping them can be done afterwards

Bandladesh has won the series.... do we have any other team(having test match status) to compare Pakistan with them

Well said.

Btw, those hoping for M&M to go away can take a break from Pak cricket. They will be back in the next series. No one will drop them if they score match winning innings today.

I'd like those people to take a break from life itself. Wishing for a player to fail so that he gets dropped is sickening and utterly disgusting

Common Guys Malik is my favourite player i dont want him to be dropped .In this series he has couple of bad decisions .

Excellent batting from Misbah and Malik thus far.

They need to try and bat to the close today.

Lead is now 240

But that will not change the scoreline...losing the series....and going down in ICC Test Ranking........Its very much clear after hearing from Younis our captain in recent interviews....he is not happy having them in the playing eleven.....he also knows that he is something deliberate for these batting collapses to happen...even Bangladesh has not shown such consistancy in the batting collapses.......

We don't wish players that they should fail and get dropped.... the point is that our batters have not scored a single time when it mattered.....in that 148 n.o. of Malik vs Srilanka we did'nt won infact we were able to draw a test..... we should raise our target in test cricket from drawing test matching and series to winning test matches and winning series.......

and thats the job of the management to ensure those who they feel do not sufficiently contribute get dropped

as a supporter i just want us to win and that involves wishing all players do well

Patience. It's our first away series in almost 2 years and we very well should have won it. We didn't, we'll learn.

With plenty of test cricket scheduled for the next few years we'll have an opportunity to improve. Patience, that's what test cricket is about.

Oh and Maliks 148 which led to a draw that you talk about? Well we won the next test and series with it. What's your point again?
